AP Top 25 Week 11

To be honest thats why UK was ranked that high for many many years. The SEC sucked bad

SEC was down in Cal's early years, but not down like the ACC is.

Yeah, some of the SEC's worst years, they might have gotten 3 or 4 teams in.. But this ACC conference might just get 2, maybe 3. On top of that, it's not like years where the SEC might still have decent seeds, even if only a handful of teams get in.. It's literally going to be Duke 1-seed, Louisville 8-seed, and UNC might be a 10-seed. That's REAL bad. a major conference should still have someone else in that 6-3seed line.

ACC is currently projected to get 5 in with Duke, Pitt, Clemson, Louisville and UNC. However Pitt is a projected 7 seed, Clemson and Louisville 9 seeds, and UNC a 10 seed. If they slip up against the other non-tournament ACC teams they could all fall out.

Texas A&M comes in at #11. Too bad they didn't finish one slot higher. That would be another top 10 team we could be this season. Plus Bama this weekend. Plus Tennessee later on. Plus Auburn.

Not to take anything away from Mississippi State because I think they are a really good team but what do you think the chances UK loses at home and only goes down one spot in the AP are?

The SEC was horrific Cals first 6 years here. Just one example - his first year 2010 when Cousins tipped it in at the buzzer against MSU to go to OT of the SEC final. MSU was the #1 seed in the SEC West, lost in overtime of the SEC final, and still didn’t make the tournament.

It's funny, I didn't realize HOW bad until I looked at some of the seasons. Just bad coaching hires for years.

Still, I think the ACC is gonna compete with some of those seasons for worst year.

Why not Brooks? I don’t think the team is good enough to challenge South Carolina or LSU but the turnaround in year one has been amazing and doing it with a team entirely made up of transfers.
Ok i was thinking for some reason football. But yes now that my brain is working better I agree on Brooks (WBB Coach). He has done a great job so far. Sorry for the brain freeze.

UL is on the cusp of getting into the top 25. It’s not something I care about too much, but winning against unranked teams in the ACC is not like winning in the SEC or other conference. Marquette jumps UK. Sure, Marquette is winning, but against top 25 teams, they are 1-1, with only 1 or 2 chances to play another top 25 team this conference season. Team’s schedules are what they are, but winning, even in a weaker conference has pull with voters.

We're one of the hardest teams to figure out. We have an eye popping 20 point loss to OSU and we looked bad in the other 2 losses.
But then, we have 4 wins that you could put up against anybody else's 4 best wins and we win that comparison every time.

Got 2-0 this week and our resume jumps up again. That would put us at 5 wins over top 12 teams in the NET.

This team is going to pull off more wins like they did Saturday night, because that offense is elite and they are learning how to handle the road. Just gotta hope they limit the games where they look lifeless.

A 1 seed is still a possibility for us, it can happen and that's just crazy to think about.

This team could be a 1 seed or a 5 seed depending on this next stretch of games. Hold serve at home, and win a few on the road, and it could be the former instead of the latter.

Some people might not get what I was saying because they haven’t been around long enough. I’m talk Rupp and Joe B years. In Rupps time some of the BB teams were players that didn’t much field time on the football teams. They practiced on dirt floors and have lower level football assistants or even students as BB coaches. They just didn’t take the game seriously in the least. Year after year the Cats were the only team ranked and the only team that made the tournaments. It’s why UK has won 40+ SEC championships both reg season and SECT’s. Those days are long gone now and will never be again. The ACC will bounce back but this year is a throwback to those old Kentucky years for the ACC.

Yes, the ACC is very bad. However what I said is still true about projected seeds. The top 25 would be seeds 1-6 and then the top 7th seed, so Pitt as a 7, Clemson and Louisville as 9s, and UNC as a 10 would have them in the tournament and still not ranked in the top 25. This also assumes that the AP poll has anything to do with seeding, which it doesn't, though it should be pretty close.
