AP blocks Lonzo

Lol. I'm at the game scouting, he basically did whatever he wanted in the second half, getting to get rim at will and finding the open man. The passing is the main reason I wanted him on the lakers more than anyone else since he's the only player with that particular elite ability
How did they let him score 36?

Not when he dodges competition like he did the other night. He's a pussy in my book.

I know it's a popular joke, especially here, but even if he wasn't really injured, you'd have to make quite the leap to think a rookie got to make that call. Lots of big name rookies have sat, even just for rest. I'd need more definitive proof than that to hate a 19 year old and call him a pussy.

Even without Lavar the kid is a douche, the whole shh the cowd thing and the way he left UCLA makes him unlikeable to me.

I assume the announcement he was leaving was orchestrated by Lavar. He's the one that decided where the kids were going to school, for however we all feel about that.

The shh thing? Come on. Our guys wear 3 goggles and shoot arrows and make the "it's over" gesture and we love it. And rightfully so. It's fun. They're 18-19 and playing a game.

For the size of the bullseye on the kid's back and all the hell he catches at every turn, he handles himself pretty incredibly. It's almost a good cop/bad cop routine with his dad.

He played both games in between that one, right? Maybe he made that call, maybe he didn't. Fact is, dude shrinks up against real competition. Magic can't hide him forever. Laid down against UK in the tourney and immediately said he was turning pro in the locker room with cameras in his face, with no emotion. I believe that's what @~Keyser Soze~ was referring to. Whatever the "it" is, he doesn't have it.

Wow! That groin recovered nicely, didn't it?

Listen, whether his groin was hurt or not, Lonzo missing that game against Fox isn't/wasn't a good look. Any attempts to spin it otherwise is futile.

I'm sure it was the Lakers front office that told him to sit, but for his won future, I hope he was appealing the decision behind the scenes. I would be livid if my team made it look like I was dodging the competition, and I want guys that want to go up against top talent. Dodging Fox looked really, really cheesy.

EDIT: Great block AP! I think he's on the roster for the 76ers all year.

100% agree. And that skill allows them to play at the speed/tempo that Walton wants. Unlike the past regime who were thinking the brand name would be enough, this new leadership has a vision for what they want to do and is putting it into place. I think Ball is going to be even more fun to watch in NBA with better spacing and talent around him. I like Lonzo a lot. Think he's a great kid, and I'll go duck and hide as I find Lavar hilarious and don't take him seriously--other then thinking he's a good dad who loves his boys and found a way to make some $ while using the ignorance of the media as a platform to get this attention.

Did Magic sit him and make sure he didn't hurt his Big Baller Brand?

Wearing Kobes sure won't help that much. Let's see if he goes back to BBB his next game out.

I wasn't high on the Ball pick, but I wasn't completely against it. I was actually in favor of sliding down and turning that second pick into 2 good picks, but that might not have been possible.

As a Laker fan, I'm pulling for Lonzo. His vision and passing are elite...I just hope they surround him with enough talent to put it to use. Inking KCP was a good start.

That being said, I would trade Lonzo/Clarkson/every pick we've got for John Wall right now. Do it Rob.

Funny you bring up John Wall. Was looking at an article/podcast quotes from Bill Simmons. He tends to think that Wall, Boogie, Paul George, and LeBron all end up in LA after this upcoming season. I think George is a given as he is a rental for OKC for one year. Wall is an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2019 so depending on what the Wizards do this upcoming year, he may bolt if they don't keep improving. LeBron will explore his options after this year, and depending on if AD and Boogie can coexist and make a splash or deep playoff run in NO, he could be gone after this year as well.

If that were to happen, they would have absolutely no bench and multiple players would have to take pay cuts, but it would be an unbelievable club and automatically become my favorite team as I only follow UK players/LeBron in the NBA and don't have a team.

I'm just reading the tea leaves.

Wall has a $168 million extension on the table he hasn't signed. If he doesn't sign, that's a strong signal to the Wizards that he intends to leave. If that's the case, they should trade him sooner than later, imo.

Wall and Lebron share an agent. For all we know, Lebron runs that agency. Another client of that agency is Kentavious Caldwell Pope, who just agreed to a one year deal in LA.

So there is smoke, but who knows what might come together. Lebron was in Vegas last night watching Ball. Could he be trying to decide whether he wants to play with him or trade him?

Anyway, I'm watching the Wall extension stuff the most closely. It will be hard for him to resist signing for that much money, but if he doesn't...watch out.

It would be cool if Wall could join Boogie and AD in New Orleans. Probably won't happen as the Pelicans appear to be committed to Holiday.

I bet he sits out all 4 regular season games against the Kings.

The media attention around this kid is amazing, and it further explains why the Lakers drafted him.
They needed buzz, and he brought it.

He gets much more discussion on here than Fox, and we are consistently the one group that views Fox as being the better talent than Ball.

Fox, who is pretty bright, has astutely embraced the rivalry with Ball, realizing that it keeps his name in the conversation, which can be hard do playing in Sacramento.

If Lebron pulled a star-studded team together in LA, it would be among the most godfather of all godfather moves in sports history.

If he really wanted to stick it to Gilbert, he signs with LA for a pittance, leaving cap room for 2 max contracts (Cousins, George, etc.)

If Wall doesn't ink his extension, the Wizards would almost no doubt leap on the opportunity to acquire Ball in a deal for Wall.

It actually did help his brand. The volume of discussion around his footwear last night has to be a summer league record.

Accordingly, the discussion shifted to BBB and the $495 shoes that ship in November.

The Balls know marketing.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...ing-shoes-summer-league-per-father-lavar-ball

"At BBB, you can play in what you want," Lonzo Ball said on SportsCenter after the game. "I already played in both of my shoes, might as well get the 'Mamba Mentality' going. Put 'em on, and it worked out tonight."

Big Baller Brand shoes cost $495 and are set to ship Nov. 24.

Yes because magic is a bitch.

Or maybe he was told to sit because during Summer League, you don't risk injury --like DeAaron was sitting yesterday. Remember these rookies haven't been playing games since March, and are a big part of the future of the organization. It's not uncommon to sit them a few games anyways--and I expect Fox will be playing today if ankle isn't giving him issues.

Some of you get way too personal about this stuff. Ball is a great fit for what Lakers want to do--change their system to emphasize running/sharing the ball. Ball is beyond his years in terms of passing/creating for teammates. His impact on UCLA offense was fact, not hype, and he brings that to their organization. He's not perfect, and only people who think Lavar Ball is being serious when he speaks take this stuff, would get upset.

Fox has a chance to have a great career if Kings let Buddy Hield know he's a role player, not a star. Hield had some great makes against Lakers in their loss other night, but for most part of Summer League has looked horrendous. His turnover rate when trying to pass or being forced to go off the dribble is not very impressive for a 2nd year player playing Developmental League caliber guys, peers, and rookies. If he lets the team grow and Fox lead, he'll benefit, but if he keeps thinking he's Kobe Bryant or Steph Curry this isn't going to help the development of De'Aaron or rest of young Kings roster.

Apparently that was the first 30 point/10 assist game in Summer League history.

So while it was "just Summer League," still a very impressive performance. Fun game to watch.

Too much logic for some on this board. .

Fox is good, but he is hardly the best point guard Ball will face next season. If he dodged Fox, he may as well forget playing basketball.
Besides the game is 5 on 5, not my stats vs your stats.

i agree with that. As much as people talk about Lonzo, they talk about Lavar. But they TALK about them. Advertising dollars all over.

Has anyone watched the commercial for the Big Baller Brand shoes. Me either, but we all know they are for sale and how much they cost.

Sort of a Pirates of the Caribbean theme being Capt Jack Sparrow is the worst pirate you have ever heard of - But you have heard of him.

Completely unrelated to this thread, but have you heard any updates on Bagley?

It has less to do with that than the Lakers not wanting a side show during summer league.

Yeah, good luck to selling $495 BBB shoes.

Who's business are you after, because its won't be NIke.
