4-6 of us heading that way from Louisville...Originally posted by AJ Blue:

My guess is that it being on Sat. the answer is yes it will be a scrimmage...but since they have been off a week for spring break I don't knowOriginally posted by WildCard:
Will it be a scrimmage?
Peace
I hope it's not this weekend with the crappy weather. If you remember, he was here a few weeks ago when we got all that snow. This weather better not scare him awayOriginally posted by CATFANFOLIFE87:
I'll be driving down from Louisville. I would hope that anyone that cares enough to post in the lair and lives within an hour of campus will make the trip. Stoops is using the opportunity to bring recruits on campus since there isn't a spring game. There's a chance that Kendall may make the trip. It'll be in the Nutter if the weather is bad so don't let that keep you home
Any visitors you know of?Originally posted by UK!!!:
No, Kendall wasn't there.
Curious if you mean Devonte Parker the former UofL receiver? Can't understand why he'd be at a UK spring practice.Originally posted by UK!!!:
Got to meet Drake Jackson, Tobias Gilliam, Davonte Parker and Bud Dupree.
Thanks, nice report.Originally posted by BigBluePhantom:
Here are just a few observations.
I was very impressed with Towles and his short to medium range accuracy. He wasn't bad on the long ball just damn near perfect on the shorter routes. He looked way ahead of Barker in both drills and in the scrimmage. Barker has a cannon for an arm but missed a lot of targets today.
T.V. Williams is a stud. He, better than any other reciever, was going up and snatching balls out of the air that otherwise would have been broken up. Get the ball in the area and he is going to go get it.
JoJo found space a few times and took it to the house. He and Boom both had some nice reps but JoJo was more impressive imo. Horton and Mahone also had a few nice carries.
Jacob Hyde played FB quite a bit and had one nice carry almost to the goal line. He is a very big boy.
Offense seemed ahead of the defense most of the time. The Def did stuff the run quite a few times but they knew it was going to be a run play.
The secondary was not very impressive to me. Hopefully, it was just our skilled recievers making them look bad.
Tight ends could not hold on to anything and the balls were thrown right to them. Herrick had several drops as did another player whose name isn't coming to mind. CJ Conrad had a nice catch for about 30 yards though.
Moral was awesome. Players were loud and very upbeat. Coaches were also very impressive. They were really zeroing in on the smaller details and the players seemed very recptive to the instruction.
Vince Morrow is a hoot. No wonder the players are drawn to him. His R rated comentary had all of us laughing on several occasions.
Overall, I am very impressed by where they are at this juncture. Hopefully, it all translates into some W's in the fall.
Not as many fans as I expected. I would say a couple hundred. It was really cold. Also, not sure how many people knew about it.Originally posted by jauk11:

But it looks like you and Jen Smith were the only ones that were there.
Appreciate your observations Phantom. But, like ja, I'm surprised we haven't seen anything from any other posters.Originally posted by BigBluePhantom:

They play a 4 team pool round robin b4 seeding with other other 3 pools. RR wasn't done till 1230. Then 2 hr drive to Lex - not. They were a team of 11 yr olds in 12 yr old tourney. Held their own. Regardless, no early exit desired. Nothing better than grandkids in action. Hopefully not all open practices on Saturdays.Originally posted by jauk11:

Never mind, don't ever confess, deny, deny, deny.
It was announced several weeks ago that Meant, Tiller, Timmons and W/O WR Walker would miss spring work while rehabbing from surgery. Also that Montgomery would be limited. LaRubbio had knee surgery following HS season and may still be rehabbing.Originally posted by MarkStoopsJr:
Some personnel notes...
Did not see the following:
Josh Krok, Alex Montgomery, Jabari Johnson, Reggie Meant, Zach Blaylock, Jaleel Hytchye or JD Harmon (I saw one of these two but couldn't remember the numbers to recall which it was).
Not sure which I saw out of Stallings, Mosier, Zach Myers, or LaRubbio on the O-line (they are more difficult to keep up with). On the d-line I'm not sure which out of Dubose and Middleton were out there, if not both.
Saw in no-contact jerseys: Zach West, Fred Tiller
Can anyone confirm/deny the above "no-shows" and/or offer up ideas as to why they may have been missing?
Other notes:
I know everyone's heard about Hyde at fullback, it should be mentioned that he went the entirety of practice with the offense.
4-5 walk-on WR's got significant action and two made some noise: Miles Thompson and Cameron Fogle.
Starters (as of the scrimmage):
QB: Towles
RB: Kemp/Boom (Kemp was VERY impressive)
TE: Conrad/Long (felt like CJ was more involved, though Darryl initially went with the 1s - they'll both play either way)
WR's hard to get a read on, but my best guess based on past performance and what I saw Saturday:
WR: Baker (backed by Montgomery)
WR: Timmons (then Johnson and Williams)
WR: Badet (then Bone - may get more PT this year though... looked pretty good Saturday catching 2 TDs)
OT: Swindle
OT: Meadows
OG: Meyers
OG: Haynes
OC: Toth
NT: Lewis
DT: CJ Johnson
DE: Hatcher
DE: Ware
MLB: Forrest
OLB: Flannigan (has won over Henderson)
CB: Quinn
CB: Randolph (looked really good at CB and has bulked up)
NB: McClain
S: Stamps
S: McWilson (though West/Edwards will really be pushing him... West could also backup McClain)
