That we have dominated the first 2 games in the first half and completely laid an egg in the second half? Are opposing coaches making adjustments that we are not responding to, or is it a matter of getting conservative to manage the clock? If it continues Florida will continue the streak and it will be a problem to win any SEC games.

This is clearly very concerning to you. Concerning enough to post this twice, anyway.
To answer your question, no, I'm not concerned. I wasn't concerned 2 days ago, wasn't concerned last Sunday, not concerned now.

I know some get tired of hearing it, but i think Dawson is still searching for the perfect remody to move chains and save energy for our D in the 4th quarter stretch.

Have got to start using the middle 3rd of the field. Especially when teams load up in the box to stop our running game. Both games in the 2nd half, the opponents brought the LB's up onto the line of scrimmage and flared the Safeties out to limit the plays outside and on the edge. Because we were ahead, the coaching staff decided to keep the play calling vanilla.

The penalties to start the 2nd half caused a lot of it last night. However we must start making teams pay for leaving the middle of the field open.

We are 2-0. Yesterday we won our 1st road game in 5 years. We just got 8 votes in today's new Coaches Poll. If you are concerned by that, let me ask you a question. How would you feel right now if you were an Auburn or South Carolina fan?

If I were Auburn or South Carolina I would be very concerned. I mistakenly posted this twice and deleted 1 of them. It was just a question, we have showed a trend of doing this and I am damn glad to be 2-0

I'm not concerned but if the pattern continues then it will probably cost us the next step for the program . Running the clock out with a lead is fine so long as you try to use some balance , what they were doing was just too predictable . It didn't work either , the defense scored a safety or otherwise SC might have won and the interception was crucial . If the all out run strategy had worked then you wouldn't need those plays to pull it out . There are safe screen plays , tight end drags and Rb flares to add a little bit of dimension to keep them guessing .

It isnt scheme. Its execution. Maybe the young players are losing focus after gaining leads?

But Towles inconsistency in second halves is the biggest problem.

Last week's close win helped get this road win. Last night's road win will also help this team develop. They need to keep working hard and fixing problems. Not a bad thing to win on the road and have good tape of what needs to be fixed. Makes a serious Monday credible for the staff.

Quit making excuses. It was horrible coaching. The ultra conservative watch the click stall ball play to not lose was what kept So Car in the game. Short predictable runs or sideways passes lead to 3 and outs poor pints and multiple SC possessions. HC and OC were terrible in the 2nd. Inexperience really showed. Lucky to win against a poor team. Stoops really lucky as well. If he loses that game he loses most of the fan base. We all saw the lack of offensive aggressiveness.

The solution is throw to the te's. Assuming they can catch like weve been told. Problem is we are going conservative, towles is getting tight and defenses are stacking the box. Screens, tends and the occasional deep ball should solve it.

Towles threw several slants in the middle of the field. Two were completed to Johnson for substantial gains. His completion to Charles Walker over the middle in the Louisiana Lafayette game kept the winning drive alive.

One of the worst threads in recent memory. On the other hand, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Terrible coaching. We came out so vanilla in the second half of both games that we are lucky to have won both games.

Oh and I can't stop laughing at the idiots that just keep posting 2-0. It's funny and sad at the same time that you guys are OK with mediocrity...

2-0 is mediocre?

How many in the 2nd half? not enough

I was talking about how in the 2nd half of each game we get leery of throwing the ball over the middle even when the opposition brings the LB's up.

Walker's reception being the exception. We need more of those plays when the middle of the field is left open in the 2nd half of games.

Absolutely not. Those that are blindly blowing it off as "so what at least we won" still shouldn't be OK that the staff almost coached us out of a GREAT win.

Wow if you don't blow blue smoke some people get bent out of shape. This is a discussion board, there were problems is the second half of the game that needs to be corrected. If we can't address that then what is this board for. I AM GLAD TO BE 2-0. I want the 2nd half letdowns to stop.

I agree. There is nothing to worry about. Our football team is perfect and has a perfect QB. No fans should ever question anything about our team. Nothing is wrong. Nothing is wrong with our team.

Happy to be 2-0, but yeah, there are many things to be concerned about at this point. All those posters acting like there is nothing concerning about how we've played are avoiding reality. I'm not sure why one would get on here and chastise others for discussing needed improvements. It's mind boggling really, Are you guys really that clueless about what actually happens on the field and sideline?

A little concerned with play calling and the insistence on trying to run the ball in the second half of both games when the opposition had clearly made changes necessary to slow us down. I'd like to see Dawson anticipate good coaches making such adjustments, then make his own adjustments to make them pay (for their adjustments :) )
What outweights any concerns that I have is the way the team has responded to adversity. Most seasons, we would have lost both games.

We need to run some crossing routes, also play action and roll towles out and slip a te/fb out in the flat.Petrino makes a living on that..

I am mildly concerned. There certainly isn't any reason for people almost attacking you over the thread. Our team is young, particularly the most talented players. We are growing into things, imo. I think we'll get better each week in the second half. These are the growing pains of a young and talented team, in uncharted waters. Sit back and have faith.

Last year we got KILLED in the 1st half of many games then came back in the 2nd half (but not enough to win) after some adjustments. I prefer THIS YEAR'S WAY (so far) since we will likely get better in the 2nd half at the season progresses...we NEVER seemed to get "out of the gate" early last year or we easily could have won another 2-3 games. At least that's what I THINK I remember (turned 64 so I can get "fuzzy" on details sometimes LOL).

Isn't that the same staff that recruited the players, developed them, and coached them out to a big first half lead in the first place? Or is your point that the team would have won by 50 had Stoops and Co. stayed in Lexington?

When you say something like that when the QB complete 72.4% of his passes it looks as though you do not understand the sport in which you comment on.

Your replies have been over the top all week. Almost trollish my man.
