Anybody else question why Cal goes to delay game so early......

What the hell are you talking about? We have scored at a fine pace the last 8-10 minutes in a game like this.

He has always done that for some reason. I remember John Wall just pounding the ball near half court once the 7 minute mark hit.

Eh, i don't care too much. I know he doesn't want to embarrass another team, and I understand that. It makes the last few minutes drag, but we're 20-0, im cool with the coaching.

Yeah, I have to agree.

I'm fully aware of what Cal does some games, but I did not see that tonight so much. The refs stalled this game. I'm shocked UK scored as much as they did with how awful the game was with no rhythm and such.

If not for a couple of stupid TOs at the end, UK probably wins by 20 and puts up 70+.

Cal likes to go to his big men early in games and to keep the ball in his guards hands late. He's always done this.

Why do people constantly question it?

The only thing I really wonder about is why we ran almost no plays for Booker. Again.

Yea but just his style, frustrating as it is.

Everyone in this thread & the game thread agree...but UK #8 wonders if everyone else is watching the game.

Hilarious but can't fault him for being a blind homer.

How many times has he said you have to be able to grind it out to win in March? That's not a style that comes naturally to kids - especially the kind of kids he recruits. He's teaching them when he does that.....

There have been multiple people in this thread agree with me. So you can pipe down son, you have not had much to complain about this season. We know you are waiting though.

And I saw UK win by about 20 on the road...so not sure what people are bitching about. We would have won by 20+ but Cal had to put the fan favorites in to turn it over a few times to allow Missouri to make it closer than it was.

Not really when up 20 with 8 minutes to go.

Up 12 with 12 minutes to go like against South Carolina? Yes.

Having Hawkins and Willis in the lineup at the same time did more to hurt the margin than any other strategy in the last few minutes.

What we did for the first 37 minutes is more important than the last 3 anyway. It was an ugly game and we are laboring in the half court. Our force it inside-to-bigs-who-struggle-to-score-from-the-post strategy isn't that effective.

Thank you Fatguy87 for pointing out what should be the obvious.

And yeah, I did not like it when Cal did it against KU in the national title game, and it was not that high on it last weekend at SC, but tonight, whatever he did, we kept getting FTs and points for the most part in the 2nd half. We scored more in the 2nd half than we did the first half....shocking with the "4 corners" some claim we played.

Well maybe because the game would have lasted for 8 days and 376 fouls called

The poster says that Cal goes to his delay game around 8-10 minute mark. If you look at the play-by-play on ESPN we scored only 14 points in the first 10 minutes of the second half. At half we were at 34 and around the 10 minute mark we were at 48 so we scored 14 points in that 10min stretch. Then from the 10min to end of game we go from 48 to 69 points which is 21 points in last 10minutes of the game. So, I don't see where we slowed it down after the 10minute mark in 2nd half. In fact we scored more points in last 10 minutes of game at 21 vs. 14 points.

exactly....like i said...some people dont watch the game. they have an agenda against cal...have from the very beginning. they cant just be happy for uk and its players...instead they have to come here and post crap about how such minor and stupid things. 20-0...#1 team in the nation, and winning road games by 15+ while platooning players. but some people need to offer up pointless suggestions and comments.

Zilch
I was exaggerating obviously.

Read Dave's post...he pretty much owns everyone on here with stats that say we did not stall much at all tonight.

I agree with you that some games it happens, and named a couple of examples over the years, but not tonight. The refs stalled this game, UK scored efficiently the last 10 minutes and extended the lead in doing so.

Its the one thing I don't like about how Cal coaches. It nearly cost us a title against KU. But tonight was different in that it was the right call.

Not really.

Let's be honest. Some of you might be like me. We are up by 20, my wife is happy, my kids are happy and I'm yelling, "come on!, Dang it! Willis, you just let them score and make it less than 20! Come on guys! Are you giving up??? And there they go again...are you kidding me?"
I am sorry. Please forgive me. I love the Cats. I love a blowout on the road. I like to see their stands empty out and only blue left at the end and our players laughing on the bench. After this year, I might see a counselor if this continues.

I guess you can count me as one of those "blind followers".

I have exactly 20-0 reasons to question a single decision Cal's made...

the most accurate post in this thread

no-doubt Cal was wanting to shorten the game by taking it out of the refs hands

Cal,has always been this way. 2008 memphis kansas was the worst example. 2012 the game was really in question but kansas did make a run late

It's the one thing about cal I dislike.
