Considering they were dog shit for the last two decades and we have only three wins to show for it is so frustrating.
Ya high school recruiting generally concerns me a bit. We’re currently 14th out of 16 for the 2024 class. We have a higher average recruit than one team ahead of us and a lower average than one team behind us.
The counters to this are that it’s still early in the class, portal work is just as important, and Stoops and staff have shown ability to develop. These are all true so I’m not sounding the alarm or anything. Just feels a bit like we’re starting from behind and having to play catch-up using the portal. SCAR, Tenn and UF are all recruiting much better than they were four years ago. Conferences change fast.

Stoops was catching up before NIL started, now he is starting over and KY’s NIL is behind and pails to most of the SEC!

Sack up. We play freaking Georgia & Bama in a few months. But your concerns are about Knoxville, about who might be playing for them in the future....a future where UK won't play them every year anyway!!!!!

Im concerned about the fact we can’t even slow down their offense, but recruiting has never been UTs problem. Multiple top 10 classes and rarely outside of the top 20 in the years before Heupel got there. On paper they are always loaded, but they haven’t been able to deliver consistently on the field for a quarter century. This year will tell a lot on if they are truly back.
They've always recruited like this even during 10+ years of sucking ass after Kiffin left them at the altar.
This. Why be concerned about something we have no control over.
Plus, in today's environment, how many actually stay long enough to play significant minutes? And, that's every team, not just UT. A super class may be only about 20% still on campus by end of the 2nd or 3rd year. So, HS recruiting has become less important as the transfer portal's importance has risen exponentially.
This is just who UT is among college football and it shouldn’t surprise anyone.
The traditional powers of the game still dominate recruiting. Traditional being those that were big during the time College football became about $$$. And they are going to get theirs.
I also think our fans need to get over worrying about being in the top 10 cause it probably just isn’t going to happen. As long as we are somewhere in the top 30 we will be fine. Look at the recruiting rankings for the last 10 years.

20 teams over 10 years. All those teams were those traditional powers outside of Oregon, Ole Miss, and UCLA. They have had systems in place for most of their team’s existence to get the best recruits just like UK has in basketball.
Of the teams to break through (Oregon, Ole Miss, UCLA). 1 has Nike behind them, 1 got caught for those recruiting classes, and 1 you could make the argument is in the next group to those traditional powers. We don’t have a comparison to any of those teams.
The only traditional power missing from that list is Nebraska which just shows how incompetent they’ve been.

You nailed it. Tennessee is doing legally what the use to do illegally. They will be the best team money can buy!
I think the better question is “are you concerned that pretty much every SEC program is out-recruiting UK right now?”

Ghey are throwing big NIL money to kids, almost at the level of thevTexas schools. But another current SEC East school is putting huge NIL deals together for high end kids. Even UF has jumped in, don't see how their collective can be trusted after the fiasco with the QB last year.
I'm excited about our squad playing several squads replete with douche-bag mercs. Those squads will not be strong as teams... less than the sum of their parts. Just look at UT Austin and A&M. How's that approach been working out for them?

It isn’t Tennessee recruiting that is thrs bigger issue it’s Heupel has come in and turned them around in like no time…..and the recruiting only serves to bolster they appear to be a national player again

Chumlees offense does two things well, they spread the field, and the run plays at a breakneck pace hoping to catch the defense before its ready or confused. The route tree and reads are not complicated at all. If your Defense feels they can match up athletically, play man and if you can Chumlee has had zero adjustments to routes, reads or calls. Last 2 years UGA's DBs have shut the down bybplaying man the entire game. No looking to sideline for coverage, the WR goes back to line of scrimmage, DB follows him, every play.
I get it, I really do...given UK's propensity to choke and go brain dead at the color Orange, people around here pile on the TN bandwagon. But if you look at their '23 season you can see they benefitted from some very fortunate circumstances to avoid a 5 loss season. They beat Pitt in OT only after the Pitt QB went out with an injury. They could've, maybe should've, lost that game in regulation had he not been hurt. Then highly vaunted superstar QB AR-15 badly underthrew a wide open WR on the game's last play and the pass was INT or TN would've, maybe should've, lost the UF game. To that point in the game Richardson had over 500 yards total offense. And Alabama....ah yes, Alabama. 17 penalties on Bama....really?? Took Bama's reliable FG kicker missing a long FG that opened the door for that win. And Bama actually got a finger on TN's game winning FG, another 1/8th of an inch and Bama blocks that kick then who knows what could've happened? To TN's credit, they took advantage of those situations and had a really good year. Can Chumlee sustain? That's the question.
All of that is true, couple close. Alls going other way and they are 9-4, 8-5. But on the flip side good teams find a way to win, Bama has multiple games over the years they won by skin of their teeth. Last year UGA was fortunate to get a win at Missoui. Happens every year, topteam has to overcome not being at their best.
The Kentucky players I know would take great offense at your condescending description of them. They are good hard working guys and they are playing by the rules. They did not write the rules. You should decide which side you are on.

In the world of NIL it is mostly about the money and that's ok. I am all about the money and a good guy and work hard too. Doesn't change the fact most successful people and workers do it for the money.
No one likes losing a kid who is going to play a role. But a chance to start plus a little pocket money is tempting for anyone who isn't getting all snaps he wants
