Any updates on Thon Maker?

All this talk about Swanigan reminded me of another potential big name for this year. Last I heard he was working towards reclassifying to 2015 and enrolling somewhere at Christmas break...are we still in on him? What's the likelihood of him A) reclassifying and B) being a Wildcat?

I don't know, but I doubt Cal wants to roll the dice on a guy who might come in mid-season, and probably won't stay for a second season.

Sounds like he would be eligible for the draft next year as it says he is currently ranked #28 in one of the NBA mock drafts for 2016 which would be after the upcoming season. If he can't even enroll and be on campus until the 2nd semester how much could he really help any Division 1 team with being so far behind everyone else on the team at that point? I just don't see how he could help us much if all that is true as suggested in the link. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

If he only plans on going to college for .5 of year thats what he will be wearing in about 4 years kid needs way more than that.A lot of talent but a long way to go for him to reach his potential, vey raw talent from what i have seen.

I'm in agreement. If he would only play the last half of the year, I'm not interested. I know he has talent, but he would be playing catch-up, learning a new system, new plays, and by that point in the season the team's chemistry will hopefully be running nice and smoothly. Adding a brand new member would just confuse things and set the team back.

It will probably end up being what team at that time of the schedule is still needing help or even someone who has had an injury to a starter.

Skeptical if he comes in second semester. It's hard to come in and learn the system in the middle of a season.

If he could get eligible to start classes in August, then he would be a nice addition.

He would probably fit better with this team than Swanigan. We have some quick guys on the perimeter and in the post to go with Maker, who can score inside and out.

I'll be tickled to get Swanigan, but he changes the dynamic of the team quite a bit. Hope he fits, if he comes, but that's for Cal to figure out, not me.

Thon Maker is a bum. Would only come in 2nd semester, and is a not an impact player. Doubt he ever plays a game of college hoops. Even if so, he will not shock the college hoops world by any means.

If he's good to go eligibility-wise, I'd take him for one semester, considering that one semester corresponds with the most important month of the season.

Suddenly a group of fans who were fawning over LaGerald Vick last week are too good for Maker? Be honest, most of you would be on cloud nine if Make committed to UK, even for one semester.

He wont make an impact in one semester because he is just too raw.

I'd take him if we could get him. Look at it though, he's struggled every time he's played in a big atmosphere all star game USA vs the world it was like he didn't even play.

I just don't see him coming in second semster and having an impact.

If he could enroll in August and give the staff a few months to get ready, then he could probably help us.
