Any guesses on how long Cal might have known Murray was a Cat?

Listening to Murray, and I only heard a few statements from him, it didn't seem to be that tough of a decision. You guys think Murray knew for some time?

Based on all available information, Murray made up his mind late. He probably knew all along that Kentucky was his best choice from a cold, hard point of view. But other factors were drawing him to Oregon. You could tell from the repeated public statements by Coach Barbee that he thought Kentucky had a good shot to get Murray. He kept saying we might add another player, and that had to be Murray. But I doubt our coaches knew anything for sure until shortly before the announcement, if at all, because Calipari and Barbee kept saying we would be just fine if we didn't add anyone else.

I think, he was pretty clear for a while. Some of statement seemed like his mind was set, just few people around him telling to think about it longer.

He also had tie/shirt of UK logo, seems like he had it planned for a while.

You are right. Forgot about the shirt and tie deal!

I was totally envisioning him in that green Oregon uniform....so thankful we landed him. Such a complete guard, not sure if we've had one of his overall skill set since Cal has been here. Briscoe is just an overall rare talent, I'd hate to have to pick between the two...it's just unreal that we have them both! #BBN

Guarding those two is going to be a major headache for most teams.

I'm confused. Cal is already talking about how he can't wait to coach him. Since coaches can't talk about recruits until they have signed does they mean he both committed and signed the Letter of Intent already.

I think you are right,I can see Mulder being on the court with them at times along with AP and Skal. Ball movement in transition with that group would be something to see(and we will get to see a bunch of it next season, lace em' up and let's go!!!)

I think he knew when he left Lexington..IMHO

I think Cal knew it for a while... but he was cautious. He knows things can change right near the end, due to several influences.

See: Terrence Jones (glad he switched back!) and Shabazz Muhammad (glad he didn't!).

I imagine he has. At these press conferences, they normally sign the letter of intent there.

I tend to agree with your post. I had the same thoughts concerning his intentions and why he was dragging the announcement.

The only thing Oregon has going for it is the weed. If you're not into that, then you're probably not into chicks with dad bods and braided armpit hair either. The choice was obvious.

This is truly pathetic.

You signed up for this site 14 years ago. I assume you're a fan of some other school, so I'm betting you filled out the paperwork with the intent of making some specific response to some specific post (but then never did it). Or maybe you were intending to bide your time, sitting back and waiting for that 1 perfect opportunity to get a shot in.

14 years later, this is what you choose to make your 1st post? Some half-assed implication that Cal broke a rule with Jamal Murray?

Try harder. And if you can't, just quit. You have 0 ability

Funny as helll, for the slow poster he signed the next day after the announcement.

I saw where he is being projected as high as third in next years draft. You think that is the case if he had picked Oregon. Why would anyone with the option to come to Kentucky go somewhere else if they aspire to play as a pro?

Murray said the only people he told was his immediate family. I know the Orangeville Prep HC, I asked him when he knew where Murray was going, and he didn't even know until the announcement.

I thought I picked up some clues that MJ was confident about a week before the announcement, and DK's source gave him that impression as well. So, IMO, our staff felt very confident, but of course they don't even know until it's done. Apparently TJ gave Cal a verbal and then initially picked UW.

i would guess before Murray left on his 4 day visit
i think he took the Oregon visit out of respect and to give them one last pitch
but i think his mind was made up

The confusion about signing i believe you can only sign a letter of intent from april 15 to may 15...not sure on dates but the period ends in May....therefore after that i think you can just enroll thus the worry of commenting on undigned player

Not too long seeing how Vick and the guy who committed to NC State were takes at one time..yikes.

Murray announced Wednesday Evening and signed on Thursday morning. I believe he knew before the Oregon visit. It was mentioned that Coach Cal, Jamal Murray, and his dad wanted to make sure everything was complete for him to reclassify to 2015 before making the announcement. I also think that once he had everything completed for the reclassify to 2015 that at first he was going to cancel the visit to Oregon and make his decision. I believe his dad and family suggested him taking the official visit to Oregon because they had recruited Murray for last 2 years hard for their 2016 recruiting class. His dad was friends to an assistant coach at Oregon and I believe that Murray went ahead and took the visit in case something would have happened before the announcement. I believe once Coach Cal and Payne starting recruiting him in Canada and his Official visit at UK and wanting to reclassify to 2015 that he knew after the UK official visit where he would be attending next year.

That user hasn't waited 14 years to make a post, they received a lifetime ban at some point before the transition to the new rivals format. When all the bans were lifted a lot of the blacklisted accounts reset to zero.

In short he's made dumb posts before and just now back for more ;)

You will see Vick during the KU game. He will be the one on the bench, not playing.

I've said and I still maintain that when Cal tweeted out that he likes recruiting kids that enjoy the "process" (which was an earlier tweet from Murray about enjoying the "process") he knew Murray was coming to UK. Cal is good with subtle hints. Also, where was Cal when Murray announced? At a Yankees game. He knew.

Started to post that but I thought wow it took him 14 years to take a shot. He does have patience. lol

You are mostly right, but all scholarship athletes sign nonbinding financial aid paperwork.

I know some one who met Jamal and his parents during their UK visit. He said they were CLASS all the way and asked all the right questions. He told me at the time that the impression he was left with was that if Jamal reclassified he would be coming to UK. With recruiting you never know but this time my guy was a 100% correct.

If you go to the "Home Page" under 2015 recruits thay have him listed as committed but not signed. That is the confusion.

That is why NOBODY is going to be sure until AFTER it is announced and the LOI is signed or other paperwork is done if they player doesn't sign an LOI.

*SIGH*... Are people REALLY still bringing up Vick going to Kansas?

Both Calipari and Self made it ABUNDANTLY clear that Vick had almost no chance at making the rotation this year. While he has ELITE athleticism, his actual basketball skills leave much to be desired.

Self sold him on sitting out this year, more or less, and developing him into the next McClemore.

Calipari did not pitch him that kind of success.Cal repeatedly told him that if he puts in the work, he will have as good a chance at any on the 16-17 team.

Vick wisely chose Kansas due to the probability of being recruited over at UK. I do not blame him one bit.

Cal RARELY takes on projects like Vick, but saw something in his game he thought could be developed. Oh well.
