An Alabama team that has final four experience came into Rupp after being publicly ripped by their coach , played better than they had all season and won by 5 over a Kentucky team that has been together a few months that had an injured point guard and their most consistent forward suffering with a bad back.

Or we can continue saying negative things about the Cats.

Guess it's just how you want to look at it.

I hate losing in Rupp, but I was fine after that loss. The guys went toe to toe with a very good, experienced team. The only thing that frustrated me was when it was down to 3, and we made some mental errors and it was quickly down 9.

I’m glad we get another crack at them later this season.

I firmly believe had Alabama not just lost at home to Ole Miss prior to the game. Kentucky would have won.
Alabama is good and good teams don't generally lose 2 straight. Sometimes it takes a loss and the coach chewing the players out to get the players attention.
I think Kentucky has a good chance of winning at Alabama. Again it's just hard to beat a good team twice in one season and make no mistake Kentucky is a good team.

I totally agree on the Alabama part of your post. As for the Kentucky part they have been together long enough and been in enough tough games it should not be much of a factor. We just got outplayed in key portions of the game.

Great post.

I do think bama had more of a sense of urgency going into the game after dropping that home game against the rebels. That played a role, in my eyes, for being more accurate than they have been this year.

I'm not sure they'll shoot it as well in Tuscaloosa in the return matchup. I m not betting on it, but I'm also sure they'll get that home cooking whistle, too. So maybe it all evens out in the end.

We went toe to toe with a definite FF team. Only lost by 5. No worries. We're banged up quite a bit, too. If we make 2 more three point shots in the game, we win.

So it's ok. Losses happen. The SEC has never been this good and competitive before. So we should keep things in proper perspective.

I like the fact that we got this week off, we need it. Especially so heading into the miserable gym game.

Let's get healthy, regroup, avenge the home loss, get a key road win, build it up for big MOMENTUM.

Love this coach and the team he brought us this year. So much to be thankful for !

Go Big Blue!

I think cohesion and chemistry are on a spectrum, rather than just a "yes" or "no."

It's like Karl Anthony Towns and Brunson have figured out some chemistry with each other by now. But John Stockton and Karl Malone could read each other's minds after several years of playing together.

Alabama has had some of these guys together since the beginning of last season. That helps more than just the half season our guys have played together. We'll continue to gel. It'll get even better.

Man I love this team. They play with passion, and represent KY the right way!
They will always be remembered this way.

However if they can figure out something on the defensive end, they will have a great year.
And I don't think that's being critical in saying that!

Regardless how they finish , I love what they have started. Build a great foundation for Pope to build on!
Hopefully Pope can continue building on that!

I feel like this game could have gone either way, and we just had a couple bad breaks late (they threw in a couple threes back to back, and we fouled the three point shooter). No reason to think it couldn't have gone the other way. I'm ok with that. Cal would have found a way to get blown out in that situation, frankly..

Only things that bother me:

- gave up some key offensive rebounds late in the game (probably a fatigue thing)
- JR jacked up a 3 before our team crossed half court while we were up 6 in the first half, could have extended a lead, but lead to a run that saw them take the lead
- Butler made a couple of really poor decisions late that he should be able to control

I think we played well enough to win, and I think we would have if we get the board after Williams blocked a shot on the baseline; and if we extend the lead and are up at half. Just my opinions.

I am fine with the loss, definitely not worried enough about it to start a thread justifying the loss. Look, when we beat good teams, the roster issues and time together are never a problem. Lose a close game at home, and here come the multiple reason why we lost to justify it. Bottom line is, make a few plays in the end after tying it 81-81, and not give up a 10-0 run, get rebounds (has been a issue all year), UK wins. UK is very good and very much enjoy watching them, but after every loss, lets not make threads "it was the refs fault", "we had injuries" "If Alabama had not of just lost at home", "They played their best game", etc, etc, etc. We lost, just accept it and move on.

How dare you think positive at a time like this!

Would have liked to see that game with a completely healthy Butler and Carr. People seem to really gloss over that part that we weren’t 100%.

I think that would have made a difference

Yes. This is how I look at it. And what I love about it is that under those circumstances Pope looked at the results and thought, “this is not acceptable. We are better than this! We will fix this!”

Suggesting we are at all better than Alabama is an exercise in self-delusion.
That's your opinion. Saying it's self-delusion is a bit strong. You're entitled to believe what you want. I think Alabama can beat anybody, but I still think we could take them 6 out 10. I think there are probably at least five or six teams out there that could do that, and we are one of them.

Sports aren’t a glass half full business. Either you win or you don’t.

You are way too postive for this board.
