I posted this as a response in the thread where "the season is over" LOL ! I thought I'd try to come on here and make some posts trying to get through to some out here, but after writing that response, I thought it would be a good summation for a thread. take it as meant for what it is : encouraging you to stand fast, stand strong, be resolute in the face of adversity. Rise above it and overcome.

so ...

----------------------------------------------------

I may just be captain obvious here, but there's still 9 more games on the schedule. plus the SEC tournament. Um. We're #14, right? we can lose more and maybe NOT make the NCAAT, but seriously. Only 2 other teams have more quad 1 wins than we do.

So maybe the season is over for you.

It sounds like it NEEDS to be for you.

When the going gets tough .... the tough get going.

I know about that a little bit. I beat and continue my fight against lifelong cancerous tissue residing inside my brain which makes life very difficult. Having broken my back from a fall in 08' and spending the next 7 years in a wheelchair didn't make anything easier. I was addicted to opioids and fought alcohol and drug abuse since I was a young man. I weighed 335 lbs when I was in the wheelchair.

But you know what ?

I've been sober and drug and alcohol and smoke free for 23 years now. I lost 168 lbs, have kept it off. I got on my feet again I WALK NOW. Sure it took ten YEARS since 2015 to do that much. At least I started nearly 30 years ago when I survived the hypophysectomy and they got (most) of the brain cancer killing me inside.

So I take all this with a grain of salt - and perspective.

I've seen tough times for the program and university, all of us in BBN that have been here long enough to know what adversity is.

It's how you face it that is the challenge.

And it's NEVER too late. Until the light dies.

So freaking FIGHT and rage and with all your might do not give in to negative emotion and feelings. Be positive and optimistic even in the face of ridiculously slim odds.

And it isn't as dire and grave as some are acting here.

I have a simple faith in my higher power. Jesus loves me, my guardian angels have made other people that don't even know me look at me and see them where I stand. I can testify.

I share this with you to tell you not to give in to that kind of desperation and despair.

when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Either the young men and Coach and team as a whole learns it and takes it to heart, or they will not finish this season off as well as they otherwise might have.

I thought I was wildly and more than bordering ridiculously ( i mean HH level optimism 40-0 .. well.. not THAT optimistic, but - well, you know... LOL) optimistic at thinking we would lose 8 games, get a 3 seed in the preseason and be just fine. Well, the injuries retally have hurt this team and we couldn't have afforded that this year, but we have. So we fight onward.

This can still be a successful season.

We can win tournament games , we will make the NCAAT and that is better than what we would have had with Cal here. I was willing to give this ENTIRE season a mulligan season. I haven't had to. Instead, I have been very impressed with Pope and what he has done in the face of such adversity. We have won big games even injured. It has been a fascinating and exciting season for me, I am renewed with optimism for the future and know Pope is THE MAN that will get us there.

Are there issues and problems? yes!

would Cal have been forthcoming like Pope about it and shoulder responsibly his own role ? HELL NO. He NEVER DID.

so regardless of what you personally feel or think the direction of the program is at, I really am trying to say here that we've seen tough times. NO we are not anywhere remotely near or close to entering Indiana suckage territory. Thats BS talk for BS thinking.

Sometimes its darkest just before the dawn. Maybe its a long night even. Maybe a long month. YEAR. YEARS.

we are nowhere near that kind of territory.

focus on the NOW, overcome and adapt. This team - if we can get healthy - can (it has already proven) it can beat anyone. We beat ESPN'S defacto holy team , dUKe. That's good enough for me. If this team can beat that team, then they can beat anyone this year.

So put down the whiskey bottles, crack pipes, meth pipes, smoking hallucinogenic shrooms or high grade cannabis.
Get a grip and buckle up. Rip your panties (which are now for some of you) apparently in a nice big wad up your behind, rip those off and put some PANTS on. Get a belt. Sinch it up tight.

Hold your head high and get angry. get mad, double down and be even more faithful and adamant that your faith is stronger than your weak ass fears.

I did.

I'm a survivor.

WE are survivors, BBN. And we are still ...

Kentucky

who else would you rather be or cheer for? if not Kentucky, then why stay here ? why bicker endlessly about it and panic into jumping ship when it isn't as dire or as bad as it has been at other times here?

NOW is the time to kick your faith into high gear and purpose.

THAT is when you overcome yourself to become great.

end runt's rant # OMG 3,701 or whatever. LOL !

peace and harmony, BBN.

Keep the faith

Go Big Blue

This is for all of you ALL AMERICAN long timers that have that unshakable faith - I knew you are right there with me !

LOVE YOU GUYS ! (and women too - BKO, where ya at, woman ? we need your positive vibe here!!!!!!)

You can tell who the real true faithful are here on this board. I just haven't posted since the tough losses and it's making things so much harder for some people to enjoy what has otherwise been a remarkably reinvigorating season. I hate to see dissention and angst really get to people.

So I try to encourage people, give back especially to BBN. My faith in Kentucky basketball helps KEEP ME ALIVE! It always has and always will.

I love Kentucky so much, I drove over 4000 miles in 28 days to return to Kentucky to save the life of the woman I love and FINALLY, after nearly 60 years of life, finding my woman I want to marry and spend the rest of my life with.

and she's a Vol fan (I'm originally from Nashville ! LOL!) go figure !

I have seen so much, done so much, accomplished so much. 100+ year old world war 2 vets (like my father) have told me I did more in just 50 years in my life than they had in over 100. So I take their word for it. And I persevere and fight on, fighting the good fight.

Love and live life with happiness and joy in your heart, share it with others, give back, and be resolute in the face of true adversity, and never give in to your fears.

I love this board, Lord help me I love everyone here, even the doom and gloomers.

Hey, the runt here is your friend, believe it or not.
....

wish I had a cliff notes version sometimes... LOL
