Another Diallo article

I don't understand how he is "climbing" up the draft boards.. correct me if I am wrong but to my understanding the players have not worked out in front of teams and don't m participate in any combine activities until later this week so what has changed in the last couple weeks for him to go from a possible middle 2nd rounder to late 1st/early 2nd to now firmly locked in the 1st rd??

It could simply be teams starting to talk a little at this point when the original positions could have just been total guesses.

I can hear and see it now.......Kentucky comes up short yet again in the tournament and it goes "imagine if that team had Diallo".

folks are guessing and they are wrong as of right now. doom and gloomers ran with a negative narrative and its now to the point that its been said so much....its true.
They should all remember one thing, he still hasn't signed with an agent. As for the doom and gloomers, this song sums them up nicely:

Honestly, now that Knox committed... I think I would rather have Cameron Johnson over Diallo at this point, we have athletes...I'd rather have a veteran who I know can shoot at this point...Bamba and Johnson...give me that, Diallo can stay in the draft, and take his second round selection....yeah I know, scouts are talking him into to staying, sure they are... including teams projected lottery with early second rounders, heck yeah, if you can talk a guy into staying, and snag a potential 2018 lottery pick with the 33 over all pick in the 2017 draft "yeah kid, we are probably going to take you at 14...we really like your potential...." ......with the 34th pick in the NBA draft....the _______ take Hamidou Diallo

I'm fine with either Diallo or Johnson, but Johnson would be a junior and be a veteran. He is also a better shooter than Diallo for sure. Diallo probably does everything else better, except be taller lol.

And people really need to drop the nonsense about Diallo and what might have been this past season. Would he have helped? Probably. Would UK have beat UNC with him? Who knows. That is all moot due to him not being willing to play.

If we add Bamba, UK will be an exceptional team in March with or without Diallo. While his athleticism and defensive capabilities would have been ideal, I trust Calipari to find the right combination like he normally does by March.

Exactly. Pisses me off that he wouldn't play last year. If he stays in the draft, he simply used UK and provided zero to the program.
Plus, he gets full tuition for rest of his life. That's nonsense.

I don't think anyone really knows and it's all speculation. There is a huge difference monetarily in going late first round as opposed to early first. Wait and see.

All those moaning about Diallo not playing this year forget that Cal had his team on his course B4 Diallo. Would it make sense to insert change with another player mid course. The day he walked into the practice building, he was at least 3 months behind the other UK players.

Why do NBA teams trade for players halfway through the yr?

I feel like those guys are college guys, and we should listen to NBA guys.

Ford had him at 36 I think.
Draft Xpress had him early 2nd round.

I'm not going to say he's leaning towards coming back, but a couple of college writers aren't going to tell me he's staying either.

I wish the mods would delete any new threads about Diallo. It's the same Ol' same Ol' blah blah blah. A poster starts bashing the kid and then others pile on. Rinse and repeat. Talking in circles.

I think any team that drafts him in the first round this year without seeing him compete one single time against top competition is ignorant. He is basically an unknown commodity. He is athletic, but no one has seen any of that against college level players. All they know is basically that Coach Cal had said he has improved a bunch in 4 months of practicing and sitting the bench. I wouldn't waste a pick off of that.

He won't even play in the 5 on 5 workouts. That is a big red flag to me. If he stays in the draft than good luck to him and I hope he is taken in the first round and not used for a throw away 2nd round pick if they are unhappy with him.

At this point, I believe he stays, but keeping my fingers crossed he returns. If he comes back, he is lottery next year now doubt and the money will be greater. If he stays and goes end of the first round (which I think he will definitely go first round), he goes to a title contender and will more than likely plays decent minutes as a rookie. Could you imagine a team like GS or Cle snatching him up at the end of the first round. That could be intriguing to him as well.

No offense, but that article was already posted (in one of the 52 other Diallo threads).

And those ESPN analysts were Fraschilla and Goodman.

I personally see this as zero new news.
Sorry hadn't seen it. It was just posted by seaofblue so I thought it was newer.
