Another day, another Cal to the NBA article

yeah, not happening. Nets has nothing. No coach can do well there for at least another 4 years. Until that atrocious trade with Boston ends.

It might be the worst situation in the nba for a new coach to go in to. Can't imagine Cal even considers it.

For the last time this is a nothing subject. Lets see how does a job like that work out. 6-7 million in the pros. NBA travel. Starting mid summer and ending in late spring early summer. If your a good team maybe you play 110 games. Worst of all guys that could care less what your saying as they make double or triple what you make. At UK: 8 million a year. THE ABSOLUTE BEST FACILITIES in basketball. The absolute greatest players of the day suiting up for you on game day every year. Oh and course there is the $8 million a year your making but hell they would easily double it if Cal wanted it. Or how about 40 games max vs those 110 games. Really the subject is dead. He is here till he wins 3-4 more titles. I do believe Cal wants 12 titles at UK before he retires. 1 more than UCLA.

When you need some hits, throw out a Cal to the NBA story. UK fans will click, haters will click in the hopes that it might have legs. Don't take the clickbait.

I agree, why even post this stuff?

Clearly you and the other poster and me are imagining things...the OP does not constantly post them or so he says, at least not "gleefully" anyways.

Coach Cal is the 2nd best coach in UK history already...I hope he stays til he is 70.

What I hate is the fact that you all can't recognize that Cal could stop these rumors and he is what's allowing them to happen. It's genius really. When there are bumps in the road ahead, he lets us all know how lucky we are to have him.

There is a reason that you didn't hear constant stuff about Roy Williams when he was at his best or Coach K. It's because they, and their people, let it be known it's a lost cause.

This is a Cal thing and he had could stop it. He just doesn't want to. He is a player, and plays us and I'm glad of it. He knows this job and how to handle it, as well as the significance of maintaining power over the people (the fanbase).

The absurdity of Cal going BACK to the Nets is apparently lost on some
Thank you. If you asked me "hey what would be the absolute least likely NBA job for Cal to take?"

Without even thinking I would have responded "I'd think the one he got fired from that is currently in a flaming dung heap situation."

Seriously, the only redeeming thing about that team, to me anyway, is the fact that my favorite childhood baseball player's son plays for them.

He's actually thoroughly shot down rumors in the past. It doesn't stop them from reoccurring.

I just cant see Cal making that type of dumb business move, professionally or personally. But if he did Id thank him for a great ride and look forward to winning another title at some point with a 6th different head coach.

The day will come when Cal moves on from here...and he ain't the type of guy to just retire and do nothing...he's got one speed...but I don't think it's right now...not for the nets...

I say it all there are only a few spots that would be for him...and I don't think he will even consider those for less than full control of the operation...

he's got a few more things to accomplish at UK...but once he feels like he's done everything he can here, would not surprise me one bit to see him in the NBA...I could be wrong, but I feel like he really wants to prove himself there...

he likes talking...wouldn't be shocked if he took a booth year first...

I feel sorry for the coach that has to follow Cal, unless it is a year like this one where Cal has given the next coach a super team on paper with the 5 5 stars and some key returnees. Regardless, the next coach isn't going to be able to recruit like Cal, UK will lose a lot more games, go to less Final Fours, etc. People will freak out and it will be a bit amusing in a way after all the bitching people (including you for sure) do about Cal.

I say we keep these cal to NBA threads off the board unless there's real smoke. Chances are miniscule he leaves after this year.

Cal flirting with the NBA is just another reason why he is a master marketer and businessman. His wife saying she doesn't want to be an NBA wife again just means an NBA team must make an offer much more lucrative. In return, Cal would likely get another raise here at UK. No idea what the future holds for him, but at the end of the day Cal likes money. Enjoys talking about how much his players make, uses phrases from rap songs like 'scared money doesn't make money', etc. If he can make more money without a significant catalyst, why not?

Actually no, he doesn't.

But it's ok. Cals a brand all of his own. He likes to market himself.

You have never heard cal say "I will never coach in the NBA again" and you never will. As to Kyboys point, coach K flirted with the lakers, and ended up saying no, then said he will retire from Duke for good. Not "this is where I want to be" coach ass smoke.

Again, I've got no problem with it until it hurts recruiting. If not, flirt with the NBA concessions stand jobs for all I care.

Another thing to get under Pitino's skin. He has tried to get back into the league, with no success. You notice that none of these rumors ever involve him? I would bet that he just grinds his teeth every time he reads another "Cal sought by _____" You can fill in the blank, since they come up every couple of months.

Have you seen the Nets roster? They have two decent players (Lopez and Young) who have one all-star appearance between them. After that, its pretty much garbage including the team's highest paid player Joe Johnson at $25 million per year and age 34. They have also traded away two of their future 1st round draft picks. The team is going to be a loser for a long time. Cal doesn't need the money that bad.

The garbage roster only means you look like a genius when you turn things around. #coachthink

JFCats22 is a Louisville troll and has been since just before the NCAA tournament last season. He posts just enough positive UK things to sneak by the masses, but it isn't hard to see if you look closely.

You are an idiot. Here's my Twitter handle - jmfrank1

Go check out the pictures and then tell me I am a UL fan. You are such a tool.

to be honest, I don't think I ever heard of Roy Williams to the NBA (could be wrong)
And K is so entrenched at Duke you wouldn't hear of that anyway

Other than that, I don't think your post is too far off - Cal did send out his I'm happy where I am tweet. But no matter, if he goes he goes; I hope he stays for a long time. Just going to enjoy the ride
