Are you asking about JQ’s or Garrisons help defense ? From what I’ve read and heard JQ’s is outstanding. From what I’ve seen Garrisons is borderline horrible. He has the physical ability to improve on it though.

Actually Garrison's help defense is very good, his on man defense is what needs work.

It was never "in vogue." In fact, only a few teams even used it even back then. Guess why? Elite depth is pretty rare, but we'll probably have some next year.

And there's no harm in hoping that we could see some press; and guess what? They had good point guards who could "expose" the press big time back then, too. Remember Arizona with Terry and Bibby and Simon? Remember Jalen Rose, and McGinnis, and Tony Miller? They handled our press pretty well, too.

Alabama has had elite depth, as has several other teams recently, they did NOT use the full court press the whole game. You said 40 minutes then the last post you stated "use SOME press", which i stated that would be good. Huge difference in 40 minutes and SOME. Make you a deal, I will not post condescending "baboonish" (whatever that means) responses if you do not make silly and confusing post. Fair enough ? If I make a outlandish post, I expect to be called out, you should also.

One of them is a moderator who told you it was silly to argue the point. I realize you haven’t been here long and are probably a kid but, the more you post the worse you look .

Your outlook towards what is outlandish is pretty moronic. You seem petty.

And I read about two of your sentences. The first one and the last one. From those two sentences I can see that you're looking for justification for your post and I'm not going to give it to you. You do know the press for 40 minutes is no longer in Vogue right ? Been 25-30 years since a team used this strategy. It is ok to press to mix up tempo against a team, but to try that for the whole game, the defense would get exposed big time. Not to mention dead legs for the offensive side. Maybe when we get a big lead, we can employ the 4 Corners and run the clock out. Oh wait, that is no longer used either.

Yeah teams too athletic now with ball handlers at all 5 positions so hard to do what Pitino did. But todays version of it that can work still is the half court trapping pressure. With the length and athleticism of these guys now an extended zone trapping defense can be devastating.
