and this one belongs to the Ref's

We had it down to five and made a few stupid decisions to swing the momentum back to Georgia. We shot 24% from 3. We were soft as hell down low like always. There was a sequence right before the end of the first half where a Brea 3 to cut it to 7 rimmed out and then Georgia hit one on the other end. Tough break there and made a come back a lot less likely.

Refs weren't great but a lot of this is on us. This game was within our grasp.

Not falling for that.

We have to be tougher.
We have to play better.
We have to make shots.
We have to be ready at tip off.
We half-assed a road SEC game.
We f'ed around and found out.

Did the refs suck? Yes they did but it's not the reason we lost.
100% correct! Terrible on both sides of the ball. Mentally not in the game. Not sure what happened to the team that scored 106.

Losers always blame the refs. The same soft, no defense, no rebounding, lackadaisical play has been there since December. It’s been the same script every game, even the ones they have won. A leader needs to step forward and say enough is enough.

But if the refs did their job right, do we win despite not playing perfectly?

We can't excuse officiating just because we made some mistakes on our end.

The ref complaints would also seem more legitimate if we didn't see the same thing after literally every single loss on this board. Every single loss is for some reason the refs' fault in some manner. Get's a bit old after a while.

Yeah refs sucked but we sucked to an not just due to calls. We were out of it from start other than Butler . What did we shoot like 20% from 2 ft?

Blaming the refs every game we lose is bullshit. UK got manhandled tonight and that’s why they lost. They played like shit and took the L like they deserved. Get better and win.

I try to be objective as possible when I look at things. I don't remember the last time we had a loss where there wasn't numerous threads after the game blaming the refs for the loss. It kind of makes me just roll my eyes at threads like this and I can't take them seriously. There were a few calls that stood out, but the truth is the refs probably weren't as bad as this board things they were.

Large FT disparities are low hanging fruit to blame the refs, but they often aren't indicative of horrible officiating.

How come Kentucky shot more free throws in the last 2 minutes than they shot in the first 38 minutes?

Inquiring minds want to know?
Because, according to the likes of Jamie Luckie, “The only thing that matters is the last few minutes. The last 4 minutes, the last 3 minutes, the last 2 minutes, whatever . . . when it comes down to it, that’s what everybody is going to remember . . . you need to be really good for 36 minutes and you need to be great for the last 4 in a college game . . . end the game correctly.”

That is a direct quote highlighted in a video here. Come ask a UK fan if the first 36 or 38 minutes of a game don’t matter or if we don’t remember!!!😡

When we cut it to 5, the very first “bad decision” was UGA guard falling down and getting gifted 3 free throws. Kind of hard to keep any momentum.

I don't agree. Butler didn't let him land and made contact with his chest/stomach. Maybe it wasn't the strongest foul call, but Butler needs to not even put himself in that position.

In reality, this might be an example of a game that the officiating likely didn't change the outcome. UK played so poorly and Georgia played pretty well (plus they are a top50 team in their own right), that we probably don't overcome the officiating issues.

However, there are several games every year, almost always road games, where UK plays good enough to get the win, but not good enough to get them out of a 8 or 10pt hole the refs put them in. Those are the times that a win gets taken from us, regardless of how we played. And I really dont see this in any other sport. I don't see it in the NFL or NCAAF, or the NBA. The calls aren't perfect, but there doesn't seem to be much of a disparity

The other problem is that the SEC seems to level the playing field, almost playing equalizer in an attempt to get more teams into the tournament, and that's always going to hurt it's top teams while helping help the rest. This weird notion in college basketball that the home team is basically just going to be given a plethora of calls is baffling to me. Look at Tennessee tonight.. think that outcome might be different if this was @Tenn? SEC needs to treat this like football: let their elite teams be elite, even if that means their Vanderbilt and MissSt's lose games.

Because this team is soft as one ply and avoids contact, and when they do go looking for it they're often out of control, sloppy, and turn the ball over.

You're not wrong, but that also didn't really answer his question. What he's likely alluding to is the attempt by the officiating to spread the fouls out once the game is over. I know that's seen as a conspiracy take, but it sure seems to be the case for a lot of UK games.. Kentucky gets an awful lot of fouls go there way once we've either won the game, or lost it.

Hard to play D if your ate called for everytime they shoot.
Getting caught up on screens and not hustling to get thru and over them has little to do with the zebras. Sorry bro. I agree the calls weren’t even. But Kentuckys lack of urgency in the first half of games is getting pathetic and not what I would expect of a Kentucky team led by Mark Pope

Do you think there's any way you think this because you're a UK fan? And unless there's specific instruction to the referees to do this then it balances out and there are games where we get a few points we shouldn't have. And because things balance out over time I really don't get too worked up over a few calls here and there that seem questionable.

Conference refs aren't a thing in college basketball. These aren't SEC refs. They're refs who ref any game any conference will hire them for. I just don't buy that there's some grand conspiracy to tilt things against us a few times a year to keep games close.

Home court in college basketball has been the most important home court/field in all of sports for decades now. It's just a lot harder to win on the road in conference than it is at home.

They literally shot double the ft’s we shot at 38-19 all the foul calls kill momentum and curtail shooting. We’re lucky to have beat UF Saturday with them shooting 35 FT’s.

Lucky? Or did we outplay what was poor officiating that game as well? We shouldn't have to overcome the abuse that is being dished out with no way to return it equally. It's fking bullsht

I hear people talk about how soft this team is, but the UGA guys fell to the deck numerous times on shots on with the ball in their possession to "draw" foul calls that were crap calls.

Butler and Oweh are constantly bumped off balance when attacking the basket, but other teams consistently get calls b/c their players are flopping with the least little bit of contact.

So, again, I think the UK players do have a hard time playing "physical" defense when the officiating is so stinking inconsistent.

And again, there were 2 or 3 offensive rebounds for UGA they got specifically b/c a forearm shove to the back of the UK player created the opportunity.

So, I am not saying this team can't get tougher in some respects, but those are missed calls b/c the officiating is still absolute crap in college basketball.

We just aren't physical enough...thats the game

With that being said, refs lost control of the game.

We win most of the time with those guys, bc we're UK, but Don Daily gets overwhelmed easily and Olandis poole was accused of being on the take when he was in the nba....he's wildly inconsistent.

Daily gets what I call the minimum wage call of the week...meaning i could pay someone 7.25 an hour to officiate the game and they would not miss a specific call. The call being, when you're looking right at a guy and he slides on his back the entire half court its a travel. You could never watched ball in your life, bern given a basic cheat sheet of rules and not miss that call.

Also, it happened once in this game but I just cannot figure out how they keep falling for it. 90% of the time if a player falls when they shoot a 3, it's a flop. It's not difficult.
