This is my first basketball related post since the hiring of Mark Pope.
Today … was a good day. We … needed this day.
Our new coach used words like passion, soul, relentless, love, winning, expectations, and gratitude … he spoke to our heart … because it matters.
He told us that entitlement leads to sorrow and depression … that gratitude leads to joy.
I am too old to be ashamed that I shed some tears today … tears of gratitude… I was moved by words that I - we - share and feel.
And while they are just words … they are a foundation upon which to build … upon which actions must be relentlessly taken.
I am not naive as to the challenge that lies ahead … the work that must be done. The time that it will take … but I am hopeful … and grateful … that we have a man, our new coach, that is committed to the task at hand.
I don’t know all that our Kentucky basketball future holds … but I know the coach who holds our future … and today, was a good day.
Looking forward to many good days yet to come.
