Ok but these are not 6 freshman these are 9 guys that have big time college basketball experience, put up solid numbers mostly on teams with little help and that in itself will be huge.

Exactly, he said all the same things while Cal was here and now he's suddenly all in on an unproven coach, at UK level anyway, and a team of players who never played together until this season. I'd love to be that optimistic with a good reason for it but we are far from the team to win it all at this point in time. OP just posts things to get others worked up, so consider who this is coming from.
Yes, but almost everyone of the 9 guys wanted to go pro. They just couldnt make the case.
There were a bunch of BYU games from last seaon in my Youtube feed -- how did it know? -- and I enjoyed BYU's play. There were several oddly skilled players on BYU who woudn't have gotten a free tour of the UK locker room, but Pope got them to excel. Now, he's got several very good players and I think that it's going to be a great season. And more importantly, a preposterously fun season.
A little bit of a bummer to hear about the defense since we have like three guys who were their conference DPOY. However, it can improve and I think we will have a staff that will gameplan and play different d styles for the game and moment.
I was thinking the same. If anything, I would think offense is behind as they are all learning a new system. Defense is what it is and as you mentioned, we have decorated defenders on our roster.
Don’t be vindictive. We all WANT to win it all. But what have you seen to indicate that it’s a realistic goal? Nothing. You have seen nothing. None of us have. This was a 99% rebuild from the ground up and it came together in 2 months.
My guess is with Pope knowing he needs guys to run his system he has not done much on defense. I would say that will come right before the official start of the heavy practice. I think if we have guys that know defense it will be just getting together and making sure others understand what they have to do to get our defense over the hump.
In this day and age of the portal, I need to see UK and some of these other teams in action and see how they play.
So at least we aren't operating at a disadvantage as far as having a well coached, experienced team. That still gives the advantages to the teams out there who are already operating w/ a well coached, experienced team because for the most part their experience came w/in the program...they aren't all having to learn a new system
Yes I do. I think the vast majority of us would be happy with a second weekend finish this year.
