Alright I'll Admit It

So you’re gonna go on the record and say that cal was clearly gonna recruit Perry no matter what. But not Reed if his parents didn’t play here? That’s what you’re saying.

dude just take the L.
No. Maybe you are new to here but anyone who has watched Cal recruit has seen the same thing. Cal is TRASHED over any KY kid who has some name recognition that he doesnt recruit. Cal only took Willis because he was going to sign with Pitino and came from a LilBro fan family. That was a message to Rick. I can take whomever I want. And when there are 12 spots, open transfer and the roster turnover Cal can spare recruiting a kid from KY that may stay around a couple years. That was the same calculus on Reed. Thankfully Reed shows Cal that just because a kid is top 25 doesnt mean they are worth 1 and done and handlers. Cal is waaaaay late to the party. Welcome to UK basketball. Id be happy to answer questions you have.

Go read the Sheppard piece on KSR. It details the day he committed and Cal’s reaction to it. You’re talking out of your ass. We have gotten pretty much every good in state player since cal got here. They got an opportunity and he hasn’t trashed anyone. Dante Allen just wasn’t very good. Don’t even bring him up.

A lot of people don’t like cal around here for things he has or hasn’t done in the past. You’re out here creating phantom hypotheticals in Order to shit on him for stuff that hasn’t even happened. It reeks of desperation and you look foolish.

Bless your heart. He is expected to get every single Mr Basketball every year.

Cal can't coach. Did you sleep through the last few years.

Oh he is? Says who? lol. He’s expected to field a team with top talent and compete for a championship. Not throw a scholly at Turner Buttry to appease the hometown boomers.

Yeah I’m not buying no subscription to a newspaper lol. How old do you think I am?

You’re doing a great job deflecting btw. This was seriously something I’d want to walk back too
Oh. So you dont read the local paper for UK sports. Shocker.

You may want to check your rankings. Obviously there are many recruiting services but Willis for sure was much higher and Hawkin was higher too. Perry?
Reed was a McDonald's all American. None of those other players were. Hawkins and Willis were certainly not as highly rated as Reed. You're clearly wrong here. Perry is a commit who is ranked lower than Reed was by all services.

We can both cherry pick rankings. Also recruits will move up the list simply based on who is recruiting them and with the school they sign. McD is also a lot about marketing and there is a shoe company aspect.

You can cherrypick a few kids but it doesnt change the fact. The LHL link above is not something I made up.

Biggest difference " We have enough shooters". Finally.

I think the biggest problem with the rating system is that players are rated more highly based on athletic ability and size than shooting ability. James Blackmon was the first player I watched play in HS that I truly questioned how he would play in college. In college, he never lived up to his billing. It seems like we get a lot of 5 stars who struggle to score on the college level and some are even drafted. Reed Sheppard isn't that big or athletic but he can play the game.

In other words, I love that we recruited some shooters this time around!!!

Can you name a coach who has done less with more, at any school, ever?
Calipari has done what he said -- from the start -- he intended to do. He wants to coach his players to succeed at playing basketball and he wants to do it in the manner most advantageous to the players rather than the team's fans. The players' interests are paramount.

He said that from the start.

He also has a long term contract. Maybe the next guy will want to succeed at the traditional trade of college basketball coaches: winning tournaments.

Meanwhile, Calipari has a whole boatload of former players making money playing basketball.

Reed was ranked 33 by RSCI which is a composite ranking. What were Hawkins, WIllis, Allen, and Perry ranked? I'm not cherry picking anything. Just admit you are wrong, it's okay.

According to Rivals, Willis was 115. Hawkins wasn't even in the top 150. They were not even good enough to make RSCI's rankings. Perry is currently ranked 81. You are absolutely wrong.

According to 24/7 Jerry Meyer Willis was 26th...as we cherrypick....Scout 30. They all move up and down. Also, Reeds was 79th. Perry 81? Come on man. Let him at least play his SR season before cherrypicking where you place him.

Willis was 58th on 247 and 123rd according to 247's composite. Stop dude. You're wrong. I already showed you RSCI which is another composite. Also, 247= Scout.

Do your research. As I said, rankings are fluid. Deny that Willis was at one point where I said. As I have clearly stated, Rankings are fluid, varied and we can cherry-pick all day. The point is that Perry has not completed a SR season but I am sure if he is good, he will rise. Even so he is barely behind the final rankings for Reed.

"Yet in the latest iteration by the ranking services, Willis took a huge tumble. Scout dropped him from 30 to 91, while ESPN dropped him out of the top 100 from 35. Rivals, whose rankings are skeptical since lead analyst Jerry Meyer left, still has him 26th."

\That's why I used composite rankings like RSCI. You're the only one cherry picking here. It's okay to make mistakes man. No need to quadruple down. Sheppard was more highly sought after than Willis and Hawkins. I'll digress on Perry because he's not finished yet, as you stated.

Which has never been my point. You rightfully "take the L" on Perry, using your silly need for some reason to hang a personal banner in your basement over a posting flurry. I frankly could not care less about recruiting rankings on a given day or year because Cal wins countless recruiting class wars, from which ONE AND ONLY ONE banner hangs in the rafters. I and countless others have pointed out that Cal (broad brush statement) doesnt recruit KY. And when he does (broad brush) they don't get PT. Sheppard is proving Cal wrong and I hope the Perry kid does too. I have tired long ago of basing your entire program around winning Recruiting Class wars and not winning NC's.

Cal has recruited KY over and over again. Who did he not recruit that should be here? I'm actually curious on this one. Sheldon Mack? I honestly can't think of others. We pretty much always have a player from KY on our team.

Are you living in an alternate reality? What player from kentucky has cal not recruited that was actually the caliber needed to play here? Are you so freakin old fashioned that you honestly believe every single Mr basketball winner should just automatically be on the team? Then once they are here cal is expected to just hand them playing time because they are from ky?

So what about a kid like Ben johnson who is at bellarmine? He’s not good enough to play here. You want to see him sit on our bench and never get an opportunity? Or maybe you’d rather see him get the PT based on where he’s from. Then he gets embarrassed and Kentucky loses games because he doesn’t belong on the floor.

Like the other guy told you. You’re wrong. Flat ass wrong and you keep digging a hole for yourself. It’s embarrassing. Stop. You hate cal so badly that you’ve resorted to complaining about the things he hasn’t even done. He brought in reed and he’s playing him. Period. Stop creating issues that are not there. I’m guessing you are a pretty old guy, but being grumpy isn’t a prerequisite to being old as hell.

While Lector is off his rocker with his take on the use of Kentucky kids, I will say this and I think he would agree…….

Every single walk on we have should 100% be a Kentucky kid. We have walk ons from all over the country. Why? That makes absolutely 0 sense. They are only on the team to raise the GPA anyways. Why not invite kids to walk on that have dreamed about it their whole life? What would it hurt? It truly blows my mind that we don’t do this.

Did you see what your boyfriend said about Reed? EFF Cal.

Saw it. Didn’t like it too much.

You still had to eat it on this topic.

What do you think about my walk on idea? You too proud to agree with me?
No. I agree 100% You have some perverse need to feel like you won a basketball board debate. I worry about wins and losses in business. I win a lot there. You need to rethink what is important and crank back the aggressiveness on the meaningless.

LOL. Are you 12? I look at last years E8 with what, 2 McDs and wonder why exactly nitwits like you care about recruiting classes. You waste your time. Top classes are meaningless. Its a flawed system and why I loathe Cal. But enjoy hanging on an 18yo position on a recruiting service ranking. I couldn't care less. Go swing on Cals nuts.

You brought all this up hoss. Not me. So it apparently mattered to you quite a bit. I just told you how it is. I understand you wanna walk it back. But it’s getting a little cringe

The only thing I hope is that your Rock has nothing to do with Trinity. As an alumni I would be embarrassed with your poor writing skill. I might consided giving less if we are producing you. Thats for the Pubs.
