Almanor had another solid outing and is now shooting 44.3% from deep. He played only 22 minutes, while Carr played 19. Almanor has had some quiet, disappointing games, but when he attempts more than 3 shots, he averages 11.7ppg.

Carr is now shooting 29.7% from outside and is averaging 7.4 ppg and 3.3rpg in SEC play.

Going forward, I’d love to see Almanor play closer to 30mpg and Carr play 10mpg at the max.

Do you think Pope will do this? And if not, what exactly do you think he’s seeing out there that we aren’t?

With Carr being hurt he’s not the same player. Imagine before the season someone said Carr is going to be a shell of himself, not even start, butler will get hurt, Robinson is out, and kriisa down for the season. We thought we’d be a fringe top 25 team fully healthy… we’re somehow winning with 4 of our top 6 players hurt

Almanor is quietly becoming a really solid player. I thought the SEC would be over his head earlier in the season. However, there is always a place for a shooter and he is also defended very well tonight. The defense was much improved tonight.

And it’s because we are winning despite these things that I want to see our best guys on the court going forward. But Andrew Carr playing 19 minutes tonight makes me question whether or not that will happen.

On a human level I feel bad for the guy as this is his final year of college and I understand the desire to play. But on a competitive level, the guy is washed here. We become a worse team anytime he’s on the court 😕.

I not fair comparison. Carr is playing hurt. I think even he jumps it hurts. I saw when he tried to chest bump Amari he protected his body with his chest, which tells me he still nursing his back. All respect for these boys playing hurt.

With that been said , I agree Alamanor played great offensively. He needs to rebound better and drive more to the basket. I like that Euro step and one he did in front of our bench,

So why does our coach think a guy who is still clearly hurt and limited by the injury and actually hurting our team when he’s on the court should play 19 minutes?

AA has really impressed me. Far from perfect but give him an open 3 and you dead. Coming in i didn't know if he was Kentucky level. I love the guy.

Carr has not been healthy for several games and still not sure he is 100% but we need both of them down the stretch and I trust Pope to play who he thinks will win him a game.

That’s one of the main things I don’t trust. Matt Jones has alluded to it several times also. His lineup combinations and minute distributions leaves much to be desired.

Did you know there's two ends of the floor?

On a team that gets crushed on the boards you have to play Carr.

Well last time I checked Matt Jones never coached one minute of even a youth league team, and so far Pope has won some pretty impressive games. I know Pope likes to play 9 to 10 players and so far even with all the injuries I am far more impressed than anything Cal has done since 2015.

It really is one of the most impressive coaching jobs I’ve ever seen given the circumstances and the league strength.

I guess you passed over the part where I pointed out he’s averaging 3.3 rebounds per game in SEC play? And tonight has two rebounds came in the last 1-2 minutes of play.

In theory, he should be a good rebounder. In reality, he’s a 6 foot 11 guy averaging 5 boards a game on the season and 3.3 and SEC play.

If Carr is close to healthy, he has to play. Guy is one of the three most important guys on our team when it comes to tourney success. He is clutch down the stretch and our best guy when it comes to getting a basket on the block. Yes, he’s a bit of a liability in extended minutes right now, but this is a guy we absolutely need when it comes to tourney time.

You just have to find something to bitch sbout and a player to rag on.
So what do you think everyone should do? Say everything’s perfectly normal and fine and there’s absolutely nothing to criticize any coach or player for? Ever? Have fun with that, but I’m good with living here in reality.

Good that he stepped up tonight, but he hadn't done squat the last few games

He has no choice but to keel guys fresh. It is what it is and I'm loving it when guys step up.
Pretty sure Almanor would be fresh if he played 28 to 30 minutes per game. I mean people can keep making excuses but Carr is absolute trash right now and is not deserving of 20 minutes per game.

So you ignore the positive reality. You never celebrate you only try to bring this team down.

We need early season Carr. I'm not sure if he'll get back to that. He had a MAJOR hand in our early season wins when we were all healthy.

If you think that Carr is one of the most important three guys on this team, I don’t know how we can have any sort of meaningful dialogue.

THIS. Nothing else to say, IMO. Happy to have them both and each bring their own strengths to compliment the other. TEAM.

I think it’s time to sit a few of these guys banged up and get em ready for March. Playing half a game and going out or playing at 50% isn’t gonna help us come March. This team has shown they can play with the best (9 quad 1 wins) when healthy, so get em healthy and let’s run it.

Yeah, I think the issue is that many here don’t want to face the fact that we probably never get that version again. The guy is absolutely killing the team as he is.
