Doug Shows, Pat Adams, Mike Roberts, per Matt Jones this morning.

Roberts appears to be a home court ref. Every game of ours he's done has been won by the home team.

Shows has done a lot of the UK/UL games, and we've won the last 8 games overall that he's done.

Of the 12 losses for UK that Adams has done, 9 of them were at Rupp. Not good.

It is common knowledge, should lOOievulle beat The Cats, it will be because of the officiating. I suspect there will be at least a dozen threads Saturday complaining about the officials. It is a common theme on this board to never, ever credit the opponent and always, always blame the ref's.

Without knowing how many UK games Adams has done at home vs on the road, and who (or how good) those opponents were, your summary/assessment is almost useless.

As it is common in every other board in the US especially the tard board. What is your point?

And then there are the people that claim officiating has no effect on the game. They are full of [poop] too.

So, the refs will be the reason we win or lose. That's what I'm preparing for. Neither team will have a hand in this.

happy holidays bbn. with no less than 30 legitimate contested calls to enjoy.

Shows loves calling charges. Pat Adams loves calling fouls on big men, and can never get out of bounds calls right. I don't know if that favors one team over the other, but I hate Pat Adams calling games. He's the worst (non Karl Hess division).

There will be a contingent of fans for whichever team loses that will point to the refs. Sad but true. Very few ever are willing to simply say the better team won that day.

The fact that we, or any fan base for that matter, know these refs by name is proof that college basketball has a major problem. Officiating plays way too large a role in games.
Yep, I think in the not too distant future it will have to be addressed. What Duke got away with last year in the tournament was unreal.

It's tiresome to see officiating so visible in college basketball. It almost makes it unwatchable.

In contrast, I was watching the pan-am games this summer and they were simply delightful. Didn't matter who was playing. The games were called with minimal interference and it was clear that the rules they did enforce made it so that players were allowed to play to their strengths.

In what other version of the sport is a game ever compared to a rock fight?

What do you think is a good way to address it? I've seen people suggest press conferences for officials. I'm not opposed to that. Maybe adding a fourth official. I don't think an extra set of eyes is bad. What about some sort of coaches challenge? Then my last idea would be like a more stringent ratings system. Each game is graded and the better you grade would mean you would get the better games. If you have too many sub par performances you would be suspended. Thus no pay. All far fetched but just my ideas.

Eliminate zone defenses. Players are too athletic and big and cover too much of the court. It's too easy to zone and just pack in the paint while still covering the perimeter as well. This leads to all that congestion and hacking.

One can dream.

Something to think about. UL has only played 1 game away from home and that was a loss - they played a good game. We have played 4 games away from Rupp and lost 2. I think our boys will not lose at home especially that we are playing UL. Our record under Cal against RP is very good.

Correction about Roberts. Actually, our two losses have been on the road and we've won all of our home games, but we have also won some away games with him too.

As are posts like this one bitching about bitching about refs, before anyone has done so.

37-12. Happy? Good Lord, people complain about everything on this board.

You think uofl will act different of they lose?

Bit let's be serious, Pat Adams is a douche..he baits players into technicals

Yep, we are already beat. The refs hate us, as does ESPN.
No way we can overcome the great conspiracy.
We are doomed, friends.

The problem I have is it's only Wednesday and we apparently already know the officiating crew.

I know you can't keep it a secret forever but to me that information should be virtually a state secret to everyone except on a need to know basis.

The NBA dodged a bullet with their referee gambling scandal, but I have to think it was much more widespread than David Stern tried to make it out to be. And if it's infected the NBA you know it's present in collegiate basketball, where officiating is much less organized and scrutinized by a central authority.

Who in the world are you responding to? Nobody has posted anything about us getting screwed, but several people have pre-emptively started complaining about people complaining despite the fact that it hasn't even happened yet. You people are too much.

Not sure claiming that Roberts is "pro-UK" and may lean in our favor call-wise is something i'd want to crow about. Kinda gives UL ammunition to cry about officiating themselves when they lose. (by 12-14)

Just messing around, and being foolish.
Sure hope it doesn't ruin your Christmas.

UK's Record (37-12 - 75.5%)

My assessment: Has gotten progressively worse in recent years. Definitely over the hill. One of the worst 'high profile' refs around that somehow the networks like.

Mike Roberts

UK's Record (17-2; 89.4%)

My assessment: I used to think he was one of the very good up and coming refs in the SEC. I still think he's generally pretty solid but he does make some head scratchers every once in awhile.

Doug Shows

UK's Record (67-21; 76.1%)

My assessment: Can be an excellent ref when he wants to be, and not trying to play to the cameras. For a couple of years he was waaaay out of control, which included having it out for Cal, but recently has seemed to settle down and actually do his job without a lot of drama. He's still on probation, but maybe in the next year or two will get his picture back.

I'm still trying to figure out why the OP used "Alleged" in the thread title.

Because Jones said he wasn't supposed to say it, and that it hasn't been announced. Just wanted to qualify it in case he got bad info.
