**In Rupp's defense, the AP started in 1949 which eliminated quite a few of his great teams that would have improved his numbers. Also, the AP only had 20 teams ranked each week from 1949 to 1959, dropped to only a top 10 each week from 1960-1969, and went back to a top 20 for Rupp's last 3 years (1970-72).**
