Here's a hot take...Coach Pope probably cost Amari by not playing him enough. Not that it matters. But it's certainly one way of looking at it.

I think our balance is what makes it hard for our guys to get the respect on these All-SEC teams. You have too many guys that are arguably in that same category of effectiveness or importance for us…Amari, Butler, JRob, Carr. I have a much bigger problem with Butler not making the All-Defense team. To me, I get Jahmai Mashack getting the love but I will die on the hill that Butler is a better defender than Ziegler. Ahh, hopefully Butler proves how silly that is in the SECT.

They should honor 3 guards and 2 forwards/centers per 'team.' It's ridiculous how guards are over valued on those things. Like QBs winning the vast majority of Heisman's. If it's a 'team' award, construct it like typical teams are built.

I love Amari, but no pun intended, this is a bit of a “Stretch” to say first team All-SEC. Yes, he outplayed Johni Broome head to head but good grief. Broome is a top three player in CBB this year and in the conversation for #1. Williams in any other season probably would have been first team or second team All-SEC but the league is absurdly loaded. We were the sixth best team in the league this year and I absolutely believe we would have been higher if it were not for injuries but a lot of those teams that were higher than us saw more of their guys rewarded. We had a second team all-SEC selection with Oweh and I would have been good with a third team selection for Butler, Amari or Robinson.

Can we ever not trash players from other teams. The TN point guard has been selected first team all SEC two straight years. Oh by the way, the other 17 coaches did the selection. I have a feeling they know a shit load more about who is good much much more than you. It is sad that our fnbase has become so jealous of other teams and their players. As much as I love our Wildcats, we did NOT have a single player this year deserving to replace one of the five kids selected first team SEC. Taylor from aTm certainly deserves to be on the team. Sears, who I am sure was a consideration for POY certainly deserves first team. Broome probably does as well. Clayton from Florida is deserving, I ask who would you take off the team and who would be your replacement. Either or both Ziegler and Taylor if they were in Lexington would be starters for us. We do not have a guard that would bench either one of these two. Coach Pope would give his left elbow to have either one of these two. Our biggest issue this year is the lack of a true quality point guard.

I’m not a Wade Taylor fan myself but can acknowledge why he was voted first team All-SEC. I don’t like low efficiency, helter skelter all or nothing type players. I think that poster was too aggressive but the general point is that we are fans of Kentucky and we always want our guys on the list and rightfully so. However, the guys that were selected were selected for good reason. Do I think Williams should have got the nod over Condon? I do. Do I understand why Condon got the nod? Yes. Williams is a more efficient player and as asked to do much more. However, Condon is rewarded for his team’s better performance.

I’m not arguing about that, I just simply don’t like either player and don’t think either is as good as they get credit for. Ziegler is a turnover machine, and while good defensively his size hurts him. Offensively he just isn’t that good at anything. Wade Taylor is Ight, I’m fine with him not being out team.
