Alabama vs Witchita St

Saw a Wichita State player (Anton Grady) had to be taken off the court on a stretcher with three minutes left in the game. I didn't see what happened on the play he got hurt, but best wishes to him.

oh I didn't see that - hope he's alright.

Wichita State must really suck because Alabama is REALLY bad. They've been getting blown out by mediocre teams.

Wasn't WSU ranked tenth last week?

Grady took an incidental elbow to the face. His head snapped back and he collapsed on the floor. May have been knocked out, but was taken out on stretcher in neck brace.

Pretty scary, and why all above the shoulders contact has to be reviewed.

I think they were 9th in the AP. To be fair, Wichita State becomes a mediocre team themselves (at best) w/o Fred Van Fleet

Even with Van Vleet, they're a horribly overrated team.

Not saying you're wrong, but Van Fleet/Baker is still a terrific starting backcourt. This is assuming Van Fleet's hamstring injury doesn't linger too much like some do.
On an unfortunate note given all the injuries Wichita State is dealing with, although Van Fleet/Baker may be enough to win the Missouri Valley, there is more hope for other teams in that conference than there looked to be before the season when the Shockers were runaway favorites.

Wichita State seems to be ranked way too high every year. Mid-major program that is probably top 50-60.

that is scary - I really hope the young man is ok - was reading some updates; Coach Marshall said he's talking and has feeling in extremities -but hasn't really moved yet.

Wichita State without Van Vleet is awful. Perhaps that kid is better than I've given him credit for, given how bad they are without him.

We are bad, but I don't think Dayton or Xavier are mediocre. Both are solid teams. Xavier looks to be pretty darn good. But yes, we are not good. Wichita is overrated and so is Baker individually.

Van vleet is injured, our most productive freshman is injured, and our top 50 transfer from KU who our coach called the best shooter he's ever seen is not eligible until December. Of course we are going to look bad right now given those circumstances. Take away any teams best shooter and best pg and tell me how many games that team wins.

Also, how are we always overrated? We were rated where we were because our starting back court has lead this program to a final four and sweet 16.

If anybody doesn't think WSU was good 2 years ago they must be on drugs. If it wasn't for the Cats they would of probably went to the final 4.

And a 2nd round loss courtesy of UK.

Here is a press release I found.

Shockers F Anton Grady is in "good spirits" at the hospital after colliding with an Alabama player and falling face-first on the court during the Shockers' loss. Wichita State said in a statement that Grady was alert and responsive and had feeling in his extremities. A CT scan on Grady came back negative, and he will undergo an MRI on Friday.

Good news. Praying he fully recovers.

I was surprised when I saw that Bama had beat Wichita St. It is going to take Avery a while to get them going.

As noted the Shocker's are going through some adversity right now, and at the moment are not what they have been in recent years. So no real surprise Alabama could beat them. I don't for a minute though buy in on them having been overrated. That NCAA game a couple of seasons ago was one of the best I've ever seen in large part because the level of play by both teams was outstanding. That WSU team could have beaten anyone. They just ran into the wrong team that day. We've been there.

They certainly were a great team in 14 but this isn't 2014. Cleanthony Early was incredible in that tournament game but he isn't on the team anymore. They looked great against KU last year but their little run is over.

You're right, Dayton and X are good teams but Bama got throttled in both games and neither team is expected to be a threat of any kind this year.

Yeah well UK lost 90% of their team from last year. What's your point?

I disagree with Dayton. Archie Miller is a damn good coach. He'll be getting a call from the big boys eventually. But I do understand what you are saying.

I never said Archie Miller wasn't a good coach. The guy is phenomenal but Dayton is not a top team this season. I watched that game and all Dayton had to do was run a simple offense and really didn't have to work hard at all on defense. Alabama was awful. They had zero structure.

I watched our game against Witchita State a couple of years ago, I felt had we not beaten them that they could have won it all. We probably played our best game of the season that day.
