*****Alabama @Kentucky Official Game Thread*****

I'm surprised it's been this bad for the whole year and seems to not have been addressed.
If you don't have quickness with length, it is nearly impossible to stay in front of elite offensive players. You don't take a mule to the Derby and expect to have speed to win. It will take three recruiting cycles to get the players Pope wants and needs. NIL may make that more difficult to keep your own players while recruiting needed pieces. Building an elite team is much more difficult than it has ever been. The problem in sports is now the same in any business! It is called $$$$$$

Cal had 1 thing right for sure. 2 hands to rebound. Amari plays half the game like he is paralyzed in one arm.

Listening to Matt Jones and he said Pope made some argument that having your arms up slows your lateral quickness. I call bullshit. Pope may not have had a lot of options this year but Williams plays the game like he thinks the other team is just supposed to let him do what he wants and struggles when they challenge him ANYWHERE on the floor.
Pope might actually be right on the having arms up slows lateral movement, but it's an odd comment to make, IF he was referring to the bigs not having their arms up. Because normally when you're protecting the basket, lateral movement is almost out of the equation. Further away from the basket, having your arms down helps to put pressure on the dribbler. I didn't listen to to the MJ show, so I could be way off base.

"A home loss, and it’s looking like Wilson is UNC bound, this Saturday fricking sucks"

The home loss sucks of course.

Losing Wilson to UNC is not determined but if that is the choice I truly believe it will be for the best. There's only 2 reasons for Wilson to pick UNC over Kentucky; money and the opportunity to "be the man." We DO NOT WANT anyone one sided. Pope's whole offensive strategy is team play not me play. If Wilson comes then he has bought into what we will need.

Agree. I listen to KSR during basketball because living out of state just don’t hear anything UK related.

Can honestly say will not miss Williams or Carr.

Dillingham, Sheppard and Reeves are all better than anyone on our current roster in offense

Also, edwards plays way above his level in that game, it was somewhat a miracle
Again they aren't unbeatable. Litterly just lost at home to Ole Miss. They now have 1 less loss than UK. They also do not have 5 top 15 wins either

I hate losing. But I’m proud of this team. The athletic difference between us and them is glaring.

But our guys played their asses off.

Sometimes you just get beat with your best effort.

That happened today.

We have a week now to get ready for the next game.

Hopefully we don’t fall out of the top 10.
Kentucky had plenty of opportunities to take the lead when they tied it after the dunk with 6 minutes to go.

We get bad calls every game, but regardless of bad calls, Kentucky should have won it. My biggest complaint is the effort to go after loose balls.

That resulted in Alabama hitting those back to back 3's which sealed it.

Flop or no flop, the rule states a shooter must have space to land. By the rule it was a foul. Crying over a rule will not help, our coaching staff MUST address this issue we seem to have every game. The opposing shooter would be foolish not to fall in we are in his landing space. It is a good play for them and a horrible play on us.

He had space to land. Oweh stepped back. Refs fall for this flop 90 percent of the time. Only thing to do is start doing it as well

We did. But that’s basketball.

There was no lack of effort.

Sometimes you lose a game you should have won.

I don’t know if we should have. But we could have.

Sometimes the opponents make great plays.

They did today.

Turning point of the game was up 6 in the 1st half and Robinson jacked up a 28 foot 3 ball without any ball movement on the possession and they scored 5 straight pts to cut it to 1. Many plays happened but that one was one I have been thinking about.

We also had a 4 point lead 56-52 I think it was and then entire game fell apart for a long time it took us until we got it back to 81-81 and then we gave a up 9-0 run and that was ball game.

That was a key point in the game for sure.

But who knows what happens if he doesn’t take that shot?

Probably the officials fault?😆
