I thought that he was the reason why Dioubate and Stevenson left?
He is now the team is falling apart BIG TIME
It was Reid and Cunningham who redshirted and now transferring then the other 2 backing the SF spot and Nelson at the 4 with Stevenson. Even though MD is a role player IMO he can still do great things he’s got a SERIOUS motor and skill set.
Wow! Things going south for Oats. Reid had to be in line for high 20's minutes.
I think he was the one of the three Bama really wanted to secure and keep. He wanted to stay at Bama but momma wanted him elsewhere.

He’s said in the past the NBA intrigues him, and I know the rumor was the Nuggets had interest. To me, it seems pretty likely with all the transfers going on there.

No. Small chance he leaves Bama this year, and if he does it won’t be because of departures. He has basically rebuilt the team every year since the portal became a thing. Saving Grace last year was Sears and Nelson coming back but the year before almost everybody left as well.
Easily plus those minutes he’s trying to get BAMA to pony up more money from the 750k he made with NO returning players in his position
Oates before Duke game was begging for nil money to continue for the basketball program. I wonder what’s going there at Bama. In a sense both coaches that the boosters put a lot of trust and money last season , under delivered compared to promises / expectations.
I don't necessarily think Hurley's schtick would work in the NBA like it does with college kids, but he's gotta be kicking himself a little he could have been coaching LeBron and Luka in LA this year. Maybe Oats learned from his mistake.
From snooping a bit on their boards,, sounds like they don't have great nil funds for basketball.. They're worried about the future in it..

Well the Football team can point to their trophy cabinet tho. Bama has been amazing for like 5 years but Football has been elite for like 100 lol. A bazillion National titles and SEC championships.
It’s “what have you done for me lately” for most people. Kids on campus don’t care what Bear Bryant did in the 60’s and 70’s. Heck, they don’t care what Saban did a few years ago. The basketball guys on campus right now have done more than the football players on campus right now and make a lot less on average. That’s the point.
They can also point to the revenue they bring in. That matters more than anything.
Do you think the basketball players care about that?
If you are a basketball player that has made a Final Four and you talk to a football player that hasn’t even made the playoffs and you find out they make twice as much as you, you are going to be like, “why stay here when I can go somewhere where my talent is appreciated?”
I’m sure they understand how it works, but understanding and accepting are two different things.
Footballs taken a backseat to Georgia do they must be pumping all their NIL efforts into that. Feel like the traditional SEC football powers will occasionally throw money at basketball to appease the fan base for a couple of years then get back to football.
Thankfully it seems players really enjoy playing for Pope. His super positive approach seems good for retention at least.
I think you’re missing the point. The kids on campus and what they think matters zero. What matters is past kids on campus, aka the boosters. What’s been done lately and in the past is the reason football players are paid so well with continued success including Bryant and Saban.
You always have to take recruiting rumors with a grain of salt, but there’s a lot of scuttlebutt that his mom is pretty much running the show and wants him at UGA. It sucks because he probably would have been starting next year. Just another example of how you can’t trust anybody to be a multi-year player in the portal era.
I'd like nothing more. The world needs to normalize with Bama being relevant in football and UK in basketball.
Or Bama funnel all their money to football and leave Oates high and dry so he struggles and hates life. He thinks he's God's 🎁.
