I’ve said all along, and starting decades ago when it wasn’t even an option, that I wouldn’t ever want AI reffing. My argument was that even if the technology got to where it could call a perfect game, you could never remove human graft from the equation. So we could never be more than one hack away from electronically enforced cheating.
But after Tuesday night I feel like I stand corrected. Maybe AI can only be better than that until it’s hacked, but I’m willing to take my chances.
