I feel better than I did before.
Towles didn't play as bad as I thought though he was definitely too inconsistent. Missed a few scoring opportunities and got in his own head a little. But he also made some really good throws. The fact that they were playing press coverage took us out of our gameplan because our receivers beat them on almost every play, but when we didn't hit it, it left us behind the chains.
The kicker leaving 4 pts on the field made a huge difference in the end in terms of margin and us being up 16 (2 scores, 2 conversions) instead of 3 scores.
The defense was actually really solid for 3 quarters. Really controlled the line of scrimmage for the most part. If you look at the personel we had in, there were a lot of backups that he was looking to get game experience. Up 23 I believe that everyone thought it was well over and we completely relaxed. At that same point ULL brought in Nixon and the entire offensive attack changed. We were completely on our heels and by the time we recovered it was a tie.
Obviously we have to be better to have a chance to win the next 3 weeks, but I don't think it was nearly as bad as I originally thought.
