How big of a lawsuit do think there will be between them and the trainer they suspended and made scratch for the Derby and other races this weekend? It's almost comical when Churchill Downs Inc does things "in the best interest of horse racing." Here are Churchill's priorities in no particular order.

1. Casinos
2. Real estate development
3. Derby week

There is no number 4.

I'm gonna take a big hit here considering the audience, but. Cockfighting is illegal here. Dogfighting is illegal here. Hell, they don't even race dogs anymore here. And yet, we still purposely breed horses to run so we can gamble on them, and the collateral damage is just that.

I get that. My response is that the other things you mentioned are intentional cruelty for the sake of cruelty. No owner or trainer of a horse wants them to die.

That's an excellent response Glenn, and I appreciate the understanding of my point. I made a shaky comparison there and deserve to be challenged. I'm frankly a little flummoxed at being replied to with such a logical, civil answer and I need to take 15 minutes to process this.

I get it. If you don't like Bob Baffert then you should probably look up Patrick Biancone. I'm surprised TVG hired his daughter as an analyst with her last name. I'll save you the trouble of looking it up. He was suspended for having snake venom in his barn to numb his horses pain so they could run through it. Dick Dutrow just came back from a 10 year suspension for this crap. If Baffert was cheating then he's a terrible cheater because there isn't a vet in the world that would say the drug his horse had gave him any type of an advantage.

Are any of the local/state news reporters digging into this story or just letting it fade away like nothing is happening?

You guys know animals including horses die everyday in paddocks, fields, barns etc. My brother has lost horses from stall accidents, bad steps in the field, kicked by other horses , during pregnancy, struck by lightning and countless from injuries sustained by running through fences. They are large animals on spindly legs.
Since the jockey club has been keeping stats this year was the lowest for horse accidents while racing. It just gets magnified because it was derby week.

Agree. Just saying I think it's hypocrisy on Churchill's part to place blame and run.
