After GA we play 5 straight Quad 1 games (4 ranked). This will pretty much be the season. How many do we win? Poll

What is our record over the next 6 games? GA/LSU/#18Bama/#5Texas/#19Mizzo/#6TN.

I posted this in another thread and it got me thinking. I know hopes are low and it has been a miserable season. If we have any shot at the Tourney and it's a long one no doubt we have to do well in this 6 game stretch. GA is pretty much a must-win and then it's the big 5.

I mean we are in a deep dark hole and it only gets tougher. Of course, I hope they get it together and make a run, but after Bama and then AUB I am losing hope. We have to take care of GA on the road and then if we have any shot at making the Tourney we have a 5 game stretch that mine as well be the season. In these 5 after GA, I figure we have to go at least 3-2, and probably after dropping the last 2 we might need to go 4-1 and that would be tough in a normal year. I'm clinging to a sliver of hope but they have to take care of GA and then perform well in the 5 game stretch of 5 Quad 1 games. 5 games after GA. 4 Top 20 and 2 of those are Top 5. LSU could be ranked at 10-2.

NET 21 10-2 LSU

@ #18 Bama NET 18

#5 Texas NET 12

@ #19 Mizzo NET 24

#4 TN NET 6

I don't know if they can do it, but 4-2 is the worse they can go in that nightmare 5 game stretch after GA for the season to be alive. Because there probably isn't going to be conference Tourneys because the NCAA is going to look out for the cash cow and not chance teams getting sick right before March Madness unless COVID really drops off a cliff soon.

So how do you guys think we fare in the next 6 games? I'm assuming Cal is starting Allen and at least one other guy going by his comments. I'm trying to stay hopeful, but it's tough. I always want to pull for the team no matter how bleak it is. I'm hoping Cal makes the dam changes and this team clicks. I'm also hoping Allen balls out because he is our best scorer and we need him letting it fly.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if we went 2-4 which is sad. Anything below that is rock bottom again. I am holding out hope for Allen and others starting and getting more minutes and somehow, someway going 4-2 to keep the season alive. With no SEC Tourney, anything below 3-3 and I would say it is for sure over.

I think beat GA. Then we lose the rest. my confidence in beating GA isn’t very high either.
I mean I hear you. We are not very good. At AUB we couldn't even make a dam FT and shot 53% from the line on like 16 shots and 3-4 were front ends of one and ones so basically a TO. You don't give yourself much of a chance like that. I'm hoping the team that beat the crap out of FL shows back up somehow.

The real meltdown comes in the SEC tourney when Cal continues to bring Allen off the bench and limit his minutes which leads to an early exit. To be sure, with Allen starting and getting significant minutes, the outcome might be the same. But it's Cal's refusal to even try that will be the deathblow for him.

I think it depends on how cal coaches the games. Does he coach to win or does he coach to not hurt the feelings of certain players. I’m not sure any of us know how good we can be or how pedestrian we just are in general. Until cal starts putting the lineup on the floor that gives us the best chance to win we won’t really know.

The team that won at Miss St is not bad either.

I can feel our SOS rising . That combined with Cals tweak of the lineup should have us headed upward . Look out March .
Why you clowns act like SOS is a joke is beyond me.
You will find out tomorrow night and Saturday night why its not after UK beats both Georgia and LSU who have SOS’ in the 100s!

To answer the OP's question...I say 2-4 over the next six, but I hope I am wrong.

Regarding FT's (and fundamentals for that matter): I knew an old coach who used to tell players--"An inability to hit FT's is the first sign of a player hasn't put in the work in the past and won't do the work in the present to help this team win in the future."

I know it is old school, but FTs (and other fundamentals like rebounding) are a foundational and function of repetition, attention to detail, and "want-to".....Sometimes the old lessons, true and time-tested, are the best lessons.

We need more out of our players than just "playing around" to come out of this stretch above .500.

GBB!

The real answer to the question is, HOW STUBBORN IS CAL? Because if he really wants to win, he HAS to have scorers (Allen and Mintz) in the game and unreliables (Boston) out of the game. If he does those things, we have a chance to go 3-3. Absent those changes, 0-6 is a guarantee. No way this team wins without Clarke AND without Allen in the game.

Consider me an optimist since I voted for 2-4. Honestly I won’t be surprised with 0-6 but if we go 3-3 I’ll be absolutely shocked.

The next six games are essentially our tournament for the year. If we go anything under 4-2 we are done, and above .500 on this stretch is highly unlikely to happen. I’ve already written this season off, but for those that still have faith it’s 4-2 or there is no chance this team sniffs the tournament. Day by day I see the SEC tournament be less and less likely to happen. Prove me wrong Cats!

Stop it with these what if’s. You guys just torture yourselves. You’ve already seen how this will play itself out. The games don’t mean anything. Against ranked teams, we will get smoked. Our games have devolved into NBA tryouts. Actually I shouldn’t say devolved, they’ve been just thst for years. So sit there and play ifs and buts but these candy and nuts are stale. This team, this year, ended at 1-6, never to recover. Not trying to be a negative Nancy, I’m just not gonna sit here and kid myself or you guys that this thing automatically turns itself into some miracle season.
Cal screwed this from the beginning. You’re looking at a 7 to 9 win team. Sooner you realize it, better off you will be.

He is protecting Allen. Didn’t you listen this answer last night?

This team isn't making the NCAA tournament. Sorry this season is over. There arent enough marquee wins left on the schedule for them to make enough noise for them to put us in.

If we have any shot at the Tourney

But I hope I get proven wrong...

I said 3-3. I think that's reasonable.

We are favored tomorrow (albeit by a few points).

Underdogs in the 5 but hoping we can pull an upset or two.

The good news is if this team could do damage (4-2 or 5-1) then the back end of our schedule has winnable games outside of the road trip to UT. It wouldn't shock me to finish 6-1 in our last seven going into the SEC Tournament.

If there's no conference tournament, it doesn't matter what we do during the stretch - we aren't making the NCAAT at-large, period.

I think it's more likely we have a conference tournament than don't have one.

If we reach a point where that's in jeopardy, than the NCAA tournament would also be and this season wouldn't matter anyways lol

4 and 8 and the next few really matter.

Pumpers.
Actually, if you read my first post I said I wouldn't be surprised if we went 2-4, but am trying to be hopeful. Hope is a good thing, maybe the best thing Red. I also said if there is any glimmer of hope left, again IF, then the season would come down to the next 6 games. We play 5 Quad 1 games in a row and 4 of them are ranked in the Top 20 with 2 in the Top 5. All 5 are in the Top 25 of the NET and only 1 has lost more than 1-2 games and that's the #1 SEC Bama. This stretch would be tough in a good year. I don't see how anything I posted is being a Pumper. If so I guess you are a negative Nancy and I would rather be the pumper if that's the case. All I'm doing is discussing BB on a BB forum. If that's bad then what are we all doing here? Or does every post have to be the same negative crap over and over with some post that is the exact same being posted 50 times? No thanks. All I said is this stretch is crucial to having any shot even 1%. Without it, we are done. I still don't see how that is being a Pumper. I'm always going to cheer for my team through the good and the bad. That doesn't mean I am happy with this season. I am just as disappointed as the next guy.

The "pumper" labeling is the dumbest thing on this board.

The majority of people except maybe one or two know where this team is at right now and know it's not good.

But that doesn't mean you stop rooting for your team and you can't be hopeful they will get better. In fact, if we've seen anything in the last 10 years more likely they WILL get better. Will it be enough to compete in the NCAA tournament? Will it be enough to even make the tournament? Who knows.

I'd much rather be hopeful it's going to happen because if not............why even bother being a fan.

After a good first half, the offensive numbers last night were just okay when factoring in we played a team that's bad on defense.

Took care of the ball which is great. Only had an effective FG% of 47.7% tho. Took too many 3s for a poor 3 point shooting team IMO.

I don't want to take away because we did do some things well last night but it's just something to keep in mind when facing these next four teams. We have to shoot it better or else we are staring at 1-3 or 0-4.

If Vegas follows KP and it usually does we will be underdogs by 9 vs Bama, 4 vs Texas, 5 vs MIssouri and 2 vs UT.

But I'll say this.............win 3 or even 4 of these games and the remaining games aren't bad and the NCAA Committee will have to think long and hard at giving us an at-large.

It will be a weird resume in that our record will be meh but we'll have had quite a bit of Quad 1 wins. It would certainly make it interesting.
