well........those are unadjusted numbers so don't put too much stock into that.

On Kenpom we are 30th and 50th which I guess is slightly better lol

That is essentially the definition of +/-, which is available on basketball reference. But no it doesn't have that as that as Synergy is designed essentially for scouting and that really doesn't have any use for scouting purposes.

Would disagree on the scouting value point as well. The NBA tracks lineup level efficiency ratings and it was also initially part of the court intelligence app that Kenpom partnered with. Those were being tracked for a reason. I'm surprised synergy wouldn't have a way to calculate this somewhere.

The value of knowing that is that it gives a starting point for examining how you'd game plan against specific lineups. For example, you might utilize a more aggressive defense against a lineup that excels defensively and struggles a bit offensively. The thought being that they may be easy to turnover, giving you more transition opportunities and avoiding their strength. So it can be a guide for things like when to press and when not to, based on which players on currently on the court.

That number taken in isolation is not going to tell you what to do, but it does help narrow down the options to consider.

There's another website called Hooplens.com which I believe the general public can purchase a subscription and I think they have efficiency data by lineup. I think around Christmas they were actually giving out free demo accounts. But maybe their data can answer that question.

Cool, thanks. I hadn't heard of this site before. I didn't see an option for the public, just D-I coaches, but I'll email them to see if an option exists.

Web design obviously isn't their forte, but hopefully that means the analytics are good. Appreciate you sharing the info.

There's been a lot of cool advances in analytics just in the last five years, and not limited to sports. I imagine you'll see more folks getting interested in this moving forward.

The SportVU system alone is pretty fascinating. Would love to get access to that data.

I actually think a member here already has the data. I've seen someone post things from that site before
