What adjustments do you think will occur during the off week practices going into next week?

On offense…I think we will be a quicker tempo (not fast but faster), simplified reads for Leary, and more of Sumo-Karnbaye

On defense…less aggressiveness to try to cut down on penalties. Hopefully it doesn’t take away all the desire. And more emphasis on fundamental assignments.

5-5 with. 3 wins over terrible Vandy teams, one over a terrible Arkansas team and one over a decent MSU team. So, 1 decent win along with 5 horrible losses.
Thanks-IFerg1969! Better than I thought.

5-5 doesnt sound awful until you show Vandy was 3 of them . Even in the wins it seems we look awful .

We’re actually 5-8, had two bye week games in ‘13, ‘14, and ‘’19. We beat Vandy three times, Ark and Miss St.

Why does it take to the bye week?
Weeks ago I could see DSK should be 2nd string. Leary has had some absolute poop games and they haven't even tried to sit him for a series or anything. Are we incapable of making adjustments game to game?

Bring refs in to every practice and have them call it tight. Run the s**t out of the guys every time there's a penalty. Conditioning is a great punishment. Players hate it and it makes them better. Double bonus.

Get someone in to talk to the team and work with them to remain calm. The recipe to defeat a Stoops team that has an opponent outmatched has been to get under our players' skins and let us kill our own drives or extend theirs. Mizzou did that perfectly. Passion is one thing – throwing the game away with a flurry of hissy fits is another.

Find leaders on both sides of the ball. The players-only meeting is a solid start. Find who is able and willing to be a vocal leader.

Work the heck out of the DBs and have them practice defending RPOs and play-action.

Introduce the WRs to tennis balls and jugs machines. Seriously.... Then get them in the film room so they understand holes in zones.

Have Barion practice looking for the ball. I'm convinced he has the speed and wherewithal to run under a lot of these lobs that Leary puts up. If Bowden could run under Wilson's deep ball, Badet could run under Johnson's deep ball, and Wan'Dale could run under Levis' deep ball, then Brown should be able to do so as well for Leary. I'm convinced Brown could've caught that lob later in the first/early in the second but he never looked back for it. Maybe he did look and I missed it, but getting him work in that regard couldn't hurt.

Lastly, work on some things, get back to work, improve in some areas, focus on some good things in practice, and work through some injuries.

All sounds good but if we haven't identified leaders on this team by now they probably aren't going to magically appear, tap Stoops on the shoulder and say "we're here"

On offense it isn't so much the tempo, which isn't great, but its the failed conversions, several on drops. Just a couple of completions instead of drops on 3rds downs would add a minimal 6 plays to the total.

As the defense, I don't see how you can be effective you try to take their trademark away, which is aggressive, physical football. What has really hurt UK is the action taking place after the whistle. That is what CMS needs to address, not being aggressive.

I agree to an extent. One of the drawbacks to the portal, imo, is the relative inability of the new players to just... Become a team leader overnight. I think players can develop into that leader through the season like Johnson did, like Snell did, like J. Jones did, etc. Levis had the personality to come in and be that guy from day one, but he's a banana peel and mayo-coffee consuming anomaly.

Davis should be a leader. Tayvion too. I haven't seen Jackson and Wallace lay into anyone for anything. They can grow into those roles as the season progresses. They need to. They're the best and most consistent on both sides and they're busting their tails in practice the same as everyone else.

Our secondary play seems to have forced White's hand here, unfortunately. We can't be as aggressive, at least as consistently, because it seems like we have to drop our linebackers into coverage more. It doesn't help that we don't seem to have a Jack LB who can be a real heat-seeking pass rush threat.

We haven't had a Dupree or an Allen in years. Hoping that changes with this upcoming recruiting class.

Davis was miced up Sat, was going around to the OL telling them: "You're one of eleven! You're one of eleven!" I liked that.

Yep, from what we have seen from Davis, he should the guy that everyone takes their que from..Offensive line is a good place for leaders to come from but I don't see one there.

Who are the leaders on this team? None have really emerged it seems.
Trevin Wallace and Ray Davis appear to be leaders to me....and they're damn good players.

They make plays without acting like Terrell Owens out there....they are very articulate in post game interviews (Ray Davis sounds like one of the most level headed players ever at UK).

They look like leaders to me.

Sounds great, but is anyone following? Something is missing. Can't put my finger on it.

Back to changing stuff, shot gun and quick reads for Leary. Get Davis in the flat and make the other team honor that(sorta like we did with Moe Williams)

100% on the Davis sentiment.

I think Eli Cox can become a leader next year because he's articulate, encouraging, and has taken some serious lumps. He's also grown quite a bit and I think his improvement on the line has been second only to Flax.

We haven't seen Horsey outside of games one and seven, so it's tough to say whether he's a leader there or not. Once he gets back up to speed and becomes a more complete part of the rotation, he should show us more.

Fingers crossed something happens there.

Are there any vocal leaders? I don't know that I've seen players get into others' ears. Leading by example is great, but you need loudmouths too.

Having a MLB whip your ass for keeping the defense on the field with an offsides penalty changes some things.

On offense just focus on a quicker tempo with a lot of short passes to go with just a handful of deeper ones. On defense find someone that can rush the passer. Work on having the ability to blitz more effectively.

Let's be fair, not many Allen's going through anywhere.

On offense, more dropped passes and missed blocks. On defense, more missed tackles, late hits to the qb and continuous jawing at receivers who just scored. Almost forgot, drop 8 into goal line coverage when UT has to punt, IF they have to punt.

Really disappointed at the lack of development of Wade, Matthews and Fearbry. Thought Wade had a really good game vs UF but has gone backwards the last 2 games.

I wish every player had Ray's attitude and selfless play. I agree I think he's a leader. I just don't know how many guys on offense are willing to follow his example.

Leary isn't a leader no matter how much coen tries to spin it for him. That's an area where Levis was exponentially better. Listen to the preseason interview with brown about why he didn't take number 7 last year. You'll hear respect/fear of Levis was the reason. Easier to drop passes when you jog off with a quiet mild mannered guy who never lights you up.
