Acaden Lewis de-commits

This will be UNC pg1

UNC already has a pg transfer from proven tournament team (Colorado State starts to play well and sneaks into tournament when this guy plays 1), this guy is PG1

Acaden will be PG2 there

Again, if Acaden is willing to be pg2 for UNC/Duke (which proves he never loves UK), I will be very pissed
Heck, there can't be too many schools out there that are short a lead pg right now and if there are, they certainly won't be interested in rolling with a 4* high school kid to be their primary pg.

He's going to be pg2 or 3 wherever he goes.

Might get him back next year, never know these days. I recall Kam Williams being recruited a bit last cycle.

I'd say it's more likely Acaden is looking at the wide open Duke PG spot and I'm sure Duke has also been talking and offering crazy numbers and the starting spot.

We'll see what Pope can do for the backup role.

no way.....
NO ONE is going to start over the boozers

It seems like the saying “only like-minded people can truly get along” holds true. Caleb Wilson’s close friend Acaden Lewis, and Caleb himself, both had messy recruitments for us.

When his dad is sentenced in June, part of his sentence will be restitution of the monies he stole.
Perhaps they approached UK for an NIL bump to cover the $400k. Maybe UK said no.
But someone said yes.

It's a business. People come and go.

With the Pitt PG no doubt being promised the starting spot, I don't blame Lewis for leaving personally.

As others have stated, maybe we can get an experienced PG that is ok being the backup.

what legal rumors??
Not rumors. His dad pleaded guilty to 300k of embezzlement from his nonprofit employer. See posts earlier in this thread. His sentencing is scheduled soon. He will be getting mandatory prison time and has to pay it back, which could be the reason for seeking out more NIL money.

He was also convicted of impersonating a congressman 9 years ago. Just Google Jarett Lewis in DC.

Most of the schools with new coaches don’t have a PG like Maryland, A&M, and Villanova, for instance.

I may be a little naive here, but I don't believe CMP is promising anyone starting spots. I don't believe that's the way he works.

Lots of pages in this thread, so apologies if it's already been posted. Alvin Brooks III posted two Instagram stories about Jasper Johnson shouting out his step back jumper and court vision. Thirteen and ten hours ago, respectively. Gotta imagine that's his way of telling BBN we'll be fine but maybe also telling Acaden that we'll figure it out with or without ya.

Dunno. Could be nothing.

He isn't coming here not to start. He was the do it all man for Pitt. Hopefully he meshes well with more of a team environment due to talent around hum. He doesn't have to do as much, which should help him out.

Maybe the staff just says we have a lot of minutes available or whatever but common sense from all parties know he's the starting PG.

I posted last week when Lowe committed with 2 years of eligibility remaining that after the end of next season a decision would likely have to be made (by the players or Pope) at PG between Lewis and Lowe. Maybe Lewis just made the decision early. I thought (hoped?) Lewis would be ok with a Sr. PG coming in to share the PG duties. In that scenario, Lewis would still be getting 15+ minutes a game even as the 2nd unit PG1 in waiting role. But when a PG with 2 years of eligibility committed I immediately started wondering how that was going to work - and, again, actually assumed it wasn't going to work beyond one year (and we didn't even get that).

Thinking ahead, I like Taylen Kinney's game a lot as a high school recruit. I hope he's smart/mature enough to understand the value of being able to play free of the pressure of having to be basically the only PG as a freshman. As a 2nd unit freshman, Kinney will likely put up better efficiency numbers and actually look much better in shorter stints as he smooths out the rough spots and exercises the old saying "leave them wanting more."

So he was hired to be the Finance Director of a non-profit shortly after he already had this felony fraud conviction? Yeesh …and we wonder why DC is such a mess.

Sounds like his dad is a looney con man of the worst sort. Yet it seems he had a lot of us fooled too, judging by past threads like this:

I didn’t know any of this about Lewis’ father. He is obviously a cheat and a con of the worst kind.
I am glad Acaden is away from this program and I bet Pope is too.

Agree, Lowe signed to start! I am okay with this from a proven P5 player.

The way Pope rotates "lines", and the pace his offense plays at, there are plenty of minutes for a backup PG. Hopefully we can add true PG depth (especially the way the injury bug likes to bite us).

Probably before Lowe coming here he already considered leaving...

Pope probably thinks Lowe will be better option for us than Lewis

And I am fine with it

Is this his dad too? The name/age/date/location lines up.

District Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Charge For Impersonating a Congressional Chief of Staff

Wednesday, July 20, 2016

For Immediate Release
U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia

Defendant Sought Special Treatment From a Restaurant and Football Team

WASHINGTON – Jarrett Lewis, 35, pled guilty today to a federal charge stemming from his impersonation of the chief of staff of a member of Congress, announced U.S. Attorney Channing D. Phillips and Matthew R. Verderosa, Chief of the U.S. Capitol Police.
Lewis, of Washington, D.C., pled guilty in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to a charge of false personation of an employee or officer of the United States. The charge carries a statutory maximum of three years in prison and potential financial penalties. Under federal sentencing guidelines, Lewis could face up to six months in prison and a fine. The Honorable Rudolph Contreras scheduled sentencing for Oct. 13, 2016.
According to a statement of offense submitted as part of the plea, from September 2014 through May 2015, Lewis falsely claimed to be a chief of staff for the Honorable John Lewis, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He did so to request admission and special privileges at a high-end restaurant, bar and lounge in Miami’s South Beach area and to seek field passes from the Washington Redskins for a football game. The scheme came to the attention of Congressman Lewis’s actual chief of staff, and led to a law enforcement investigation.
In announcing the plea, U.S. Attorney Phillips and Chief Verderosa commended the work of those who investigated the case from the U.S. Capitol Police. They also acknowledged the efforts of those who worked on the case at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, including Assistant U.S. Attorney Mervin A. Bourne, Jr., who is prosecuting the matter.

I agree with you that it's likely common sense and almost everyone knows who the starters *should* be and likely will be ... but the comments above were stating things as if a starting spot was guaranteed by CMP. I don't think he'd ever explicitly say that to anyone coming here either as a HS kid or from the portal.

If Lowe does not come here, and we just recruit a senior pg

Lewis could still leave after one year

Because we may recruit another portal pg again (if lewis does not progress to that level) or he will compete with likes of Taylen Kinney

If he does not love our program, just be it
