Acaden Lewis de-commits

I'm a diehard notre dame football fan. I had nbc and ch 64 as my only TV channels growing up. So ya late night tape delay here fellers. And vh tapes galore during jb hall thru tubby. I'd trade baseball cards, playboys with kids that had ESPN and or wklt 27. Ya

I truly believe it was the OPPOSITE in this situation.

If Coach Pope would have given in to the Lewis', Mr. Lowe would NOT have signed to play at UK today.

I hope this sends a message to those kids AND their parents that want to dictate how Coach Pope runs HIS program, and that is, if you aren't READY TO COMPETE, don't sign with UK!!!!
That’s exactly what I said so we agree

That’s my viewpoint as well. Just go get Wilkerson, have jasper be the backup Pg/6th man and maybe go find a project guard. Or he’ll just get Wilkerson and a project frontcourt guy

wilkerson is a significantly better fit than Lee is
Maybe but it isn’t like it’s a guarantee we are going to get him. I’d recruit them both and take whoever wanted to sign first

My favorite ky player of all time. Hands down. Tayshaun Prince. So that's me. All this other posting is just pot stirring and or support. Glad Cal is gone. Period!

At least decommitting before the season isn’t the worst , it’s not like Hagans, Wheeler, or Quade Green, who walked out on the team mid-season. It seems like he never truly loved UK from the beginning.

I rather have a physical proven player d1 p4-5 level. Lewis can move on. Daddy introuble, and I'm sure that's a whole lot to do with it.

I watched DJ Wagner start over Dillingham and Shep for an entire year because of a promise. I watched Quade Green start over SGA because of a promise. I’m not gonna get too upset about a kid decommitting because he didn’t get a promise.
Cal picked favorites in like September and never changed his mind lol.

Pope is so completely analytics and number focused I have zero worry about his decisions and rotation.

His rotation this year made complete sense, even with injuries, where as the previous 5-6 years I was basically screaming at my TV when subs came in lol

Decommitting this late in the process is a dick move. Kind of like stealing money when you are in a position of trust.
Still 11 something days for the portal. And that is still adding players.

Maybe a reclass?

Pope and his staff have my complete trust in both roster construction and rotation management.

Also, just found out about Lewis' dad and honestly would rather not deal with that crap during the season

Next year team will be better off with experienced PG

Lewis is a crafty lefty but very frail as a freshmen.

I’m sure Pope has contingency plans

What is the story on Lewis’s Dad?

I wasn't sure if he'd be the 2nd string point or not but was sure he wouldn't be the starter. I guess he must have felt the same way.

Maybe the family needs money , under the circumstances, and they probably got promise that they will get more somewhere else. Regardless, disappointing decision . Good luck to the kid!

We will be fine getting someone else from portal.

Lewis: I'm good enough as a freshman to demand starting minutes at a place like Kentucky.

Also Lewis: I'm not good enough to compete with a 38% shooter for the starting spot, so I think I'll leave now...
I wish more kids had the same attitude that Eric Bledsoe had coming out of high school when he knew he would be competing with John Wall for playing time.

Lewis' father spells his name JaRett , look it up on twitter. This spelling in the case is JaRRet Lewis. Not the same person.

Are you ****ing serious? A 4* freshman point guard who’s afraid to compete. You really want that shit? That doesn’t win you championships. Plus, heard he’s going to Okie St. when have they been relevant?
If he goes to Okie State he 100% just wants to start and a bigger bag. Nothing to do with his dad at that point as far as the jail thing. That is even further away.

You still haven't addressed the question of why your boy Lewis didn't think he could compete with a 38% shooter. If he's this fringe-transcendent player you claim he is, why did he buckle so easily at the first sign of sub-par competition?

Your argument needs some refining.

This is lazy. You can easily scroll up and see the words I typed.

People like security. If they feel like someone is double talking them, then their eyes shift elsewhere. You keep making this about Lewis, but Lewis isn’t responsible for roster construction. He is responsible for doing what’s best for him. And Pope and UK failed to make Lewis believe that UK is best for him.

His dad seemed a little too hands on. I guess I’m a little hypocritical, because I didn’t mind him being vocal and trying to get into the social media spotlight when he was praising Pope, but I can see now that this dude likes to talk a lot and that could have been bad down the line. I’m sure Pope is probably okay with shedding a parent that likes to talk a lot and seeks out the spotlight. As a coach, you have to be careful with parents that like to be out there on social media.

I mean we do have a lot of guards. I get it from his perspective.

I like Lowe but I think I’d rather have Acaden. I think this kid is special but we made our choice.
