Acaden Lewis de-commits

He wants veteran guard to be backup of his son, and this is the truth

He does not want his son to be veteran guard's backup
Here's what I would say to this. THEN PLAY BETTER AND BEAT THE VET OUT! Pope will start the best players. He won't put vets in the starting role simply because they're vets. Want to improve your game? Compete against the vets in practice and hone your game. You're going to get enough playing time at Kentucky to improve your game so, starting or bench really won't matter. Beat the vet out. Stop wanting everything handed to you, because you will never improve. Earn it!

Yeah we should have rolled out a freshman point guard in the SEC and get steamrolled so we don’t hurt feelings.

If a kid decomitted over this —- good. You know they aren’t the player we need to be building around anyway
So you're taking Lowe over Wall and Fox? Elite talent beats experience. It's the Devin Askew level PGs that we don't want starting year one.

Do you actually believe there's any universe where Pope or his staff would have automatically told Lewis, "Yeah, you're coming off the bench now?"

Let's get real. Lewis doesn't want to compete for the starting spot. He's mentally weak right now. It's okay to call it what it is. Lowe isn't an All-American. A decent player could beat Lowe out for a starting spot.

So you think all those articles claiming Pope signed his starting PG Lowe were what? Fake news?
Him and his family saw the same things we saw.

At least Lowe wants to be here, he’s got talent. Make no mistake I love Lewis and his game and this sucks but at least we won’t have to worry about him crying about PT or something now.
Give me players who want to be here over entitled kids who want things handed to them. Lewis will fit in well at the great Satan Duke. He's dead to me. It isn't unreasonable to feel a certain way about a kid who wants to be here vs a kid who wants things handed to him. Give me the player who has the desire to play here. We can develop and coach kids to be better, to make better shots, and to overall improve your game and become more effective.

his buddy Wilson is at UNC and they need a PG

i do not understand how anyone is surprised about this
Pope recruited over him before he ever hit the floor
Do you think Fox, Wall, or Ulis would have been afraid of competing with Lowe?

There's no way. This says way more about Lewis than it does "Kentucky recruiting over him." That's BS. He can't expect to be the only quality point guard if he commits to a school like Kentucky.

If you want to win THIS year, it might end up being better off. Find someone to fill the role you exactly want for now at the guard position. I fully expected year two Acaden Lewis to be special and I am sad for 2027 hearing this
Go back and read what Acaden said when he signed to play here and I'm paraphrasing. He was coming here because he could GROW into the role of being a starting PG at a big time school and would be able to run the position as a freshman while learning.

When you read it, it sounds like Acaden thought that he would be THE MAN at the PG position and anyone else would be his backup. When Lowe signed TODAY, that told him AND his OVERBEARING ffather that they would have to WAIT to run the team.

247 reported that Pope had been to DC to talk with the Lewis' more than once to discuss the situation. Apparently it wasn't what they wanted to hear. Hate to see this, but the days of BOWING DOWN to 4 start freshmen are OVER!!!

Good luck to the Lewis' UNLESS they play UK.

I don’t have any hate for the kid. I hate that this is the decision but I’ve genuinely come to believe it’s better to know now rather than later. I don’t think it makes a big difference this year and I don’t even think you need a backup PG. Try to get a couple of sharpshooters and call it a roster.

Terrible news. I knew it ! You can’t bring in a talent like that an expect them to ride the bench!
But isn't that exactly what Moreno and maybe even Johnson will be doing next year?

Not every kid doubts their own ability to compete. Acaden and his hot-hair-balloon of a father are a lot more mentally weak than they think they are.

Cmon Saul didn’t you say Jeremiah Fears didn’t come here because of little ole Kerr committing ?

I get it’s not exactly the same but it’s close to it if that is really the reason he didn’t come here .

Someone tampered with Lewis. His dad is full of sh*t.
NIL is just part of what some programs are offering. The old handshake under the table agreements and in-kind benefits are still being bundled into these deals. Programs that have always cut corners still do, and will continue to do so, no matter what checks and balances are implemented.

Not the least bit surprised by this. As I was reading about all the new guys coming in my first thought was I wonder what rhe freshman were thinking and the others being Ky kids Lewis was the one most likely to get cold feet

Does it hurt going forward, when these dudes just chase paychecks. It’s gonna be rare for kids to stay multiple years at schools
You say that but I’ll say it again — if you want to win titles you have to have talent and continuity. Can’t be just one, gotta be both. Yes, it is harder to retain players than it used to be but that’s the game you have to play
