We need a 6’9 250# beast power forward or two that can shoot! We will need another rock solid point guard, a wing guard. I hope we have at least three point guard or combo guards next season.

Money makes MOST people make bad decisions. People, especially young kids, have not learned that money does not and will not make them happy.

My thoughts exactly. Not wanting elite talent is counterintuitive.
I believe most fans here would be happy for UK to land Ament. He looks like a great prospect. But I think the different excitement levels just reflect different expectations for Ament as a freshman. If he comes in as an expected supplemental piece/role player then I believe everybody would say “why not.” But for fans used to these kids being made the focus of the team, it might be worrisome that his commitment would cost UK a more productive portal player. Personally, I say get them both and let them know that competition will determine who wins the starting nod - and Pope is going to play ten guys anyway.

Also in a sport that is now "positionless" and specifically the way Pope has the team playing....he's NOT A POWER FORWARD. It's okay to not want a 1 and done factory--but to not want highly regarded HS talent is ****ing weird and UK fans who are proud to crap on HS talent are becoming strange. They will jump through a hoop for a guy from instate but anything out is bad? FOH with that crap.
Sounds good to me. But again to maybe put Ament’s recruitment priority into perspective, the Lexington Herald-Leader has been told that a portal “point guard and power forward are the positions at the top of UK’s wish list.” I guess a person can read into that how they want, but to me that means Kriisa or Ament may not be the “top” priority – and I’m more than fine with that, because I think it evidences smart roster building that bodes well for UK’s chances and desire to chase the real titles.
Recruiting is definitely different these days with the portal, but at some point we are still Kentucky and need some recruiting wins to keep our name where it should be.

Not sure if he has been that good all year, but he really showcased his vision/passing in the game/win against Darryn Peterson’s team. He did a little bit of everything in that win. Maybe he was doing it all year and it just wasn’t getting in the highlights.
He will be a wing in college. I just can’t see him as a PF at 200 lbs. against guys at 6’9” - 240.
Torres did not say he thinks we lead for Ament. I agree we need a big man and a point guard but Ament could make us a contender.

Sananda Fru, a 6'9" 220lb 21-year-old forward from Germany. Actually looks like a nice pickup...ugh.
I only watched the first 3 minutes of the video, but in that time all he did was score in the lane maybe he does more later in the video but I wasn't that impressed.
The only thing that concerns me is his build. Other than that I am ready to get guys like him under Pope. I don’t wanna build around 7-8 of them ranked from 8-40 but I’d love to get a couple elite prospects here and there. Plenty do very well in college. Tre Johnson looked damn good the other night.
I definitely feel better about Noah and Perry now contributing next year. Let’s see if Chandler returns and if Krissa gets a medical redshirt and returns.
I don't want 7 or 8 either but you need a few of these high profile players to go along with seasonal players . Athleticism helps your defensive effiencies
No doubt. That is why I think keying in on 2 of them a year is the best bet. Guys like Johnson and Lewis should or easily could be five stars too. I want at least one top 10 guy though.
The fact that UK needs him at the 4 might actually work against them.
Kids like Ament are infatuated with playing their pro position in college.
With Boozer in the fold,Duke is probably selling Ament on being Kon's replacement.
I just want to see UK listed as a leader for a recruit. I’m starting to wonder if the staff even has a plan about which to go after, portal or high school. I see them listed with a few recruits out west and we know how that turns out as far as getting them to UK

You can’t touch portal players until they enter. We are recruiting only one HS recruit from the US for next year in the top 30, Ament. We are considered top 3 and he will likely wait to see who leaves and who stays before making a decision.
Not getting Wilson was tough. But, based on at least the prevailing thought that it came down to relationship with coach and he had already built a great relationship with UNC. Pope getting as close as he did was a testament to his recruiting abilities.
He seems to be in on and possibly leading for at least 2 - 2026 top 10’s in Thompson and Crowe Jr.

California kids mostly play in teams in arizona/cal
His dad is best friends with Hart and by all accounts has a good relationship with the son. Doesn’t mean we will end up getting him, only that this one may be different because of that. He is a Hell of a player. Plays like Lewis, but quicker and better bounce/athleticism.
