A question for you UK fans

Hey guys,

Had a question that is probably easy for you all....

Was talking about Duke this year, and that we currently have a grand total of 12 PPG from last year on this years team.

Was wondering how often that possibly happens, and some discussion of you guys came up, since you've had some of the greatest turnover in recent years.

Don't know your team as well as you guys do... Have you guys had a season (or more than one?) where you've only had 12ppg from the year before available?

This season UK returned 16-17 ppg from last year and the 2013 team had 6 ppg return so yea we've had a couple. This team isn't bad but the 13 team was rough especially after the star of the team suffered a season ending injury.

Kentucky lost 85% of the scoring from last year and 78% of the rebounding from last year. I would call that a significant loss to overcome. The biggest stat that is the result of that loss, IMO, is the rebounding deficit and lack of an inside game. This has really hurt the Cats, especially on the offensive glass.

Holy crap, the 6ppg for 2013 is insane. The only returning player I see that I really recognize is poy.

And only an idiot thinks winning in basketball is easy, OAD or not.

Poythress is probably the most recognizable for other team's fans because he has played significant minutes for four years now, minus last year while he was hurt. But, Lee and Ulis also have played major minutes in previous years too. Other than that, we have a team full of guys with very little experience.

I don't think the poster was insulting anyone. I think he was agreeing to comments that were previously made

Then you really haven't looked closely at the Cal era at UK. It's an annual occurrence. Business as usual. Some years it's more pronounced and obvious like this one, but it's Cal. We love him, and accept it. Well some of us anyway.

Harrow had never played here. He was a transfer.

Yeah with teams like UK 2011, UK 2013, UK 2014, UK 2016 and Duke 2016 the coaches spend half of the season teaching the basics of the college game and getting the teams to jell and learn how to win. Yeah they are great athletes but there is a reason 95% of the coaches out there won't even attempt to do what Cal is doing. It's hard and it takes a lot of yelling and extreme persistence to get these kids to get it.
Meanwhile, coaches like Pitino and Izzo have juniors and seniors that already know the system and they know what they're getting into. I keep reading comments from rival fans where they say Cal underachievs with sll these stud players. My reply is "what are your coaches doing with all those 4 year players? They have size and talent and they don't have to teach the game from scratch".
It's hard to win no matter what the system is.
But yeah, having to replace the roster every year is a lot like walking a tightrope.
