but congrats on your signing class. Can't dwell on the ones who got away because no one gets them all.

Thx Rammer. I was surprised we ended up with him, I guess he saw Bama recruiting so many kids higher than him he got nervous. As for as him getting on the field this year, no idea, we return 6 of top 8 DB and a JUCO who had to redshirt because of a hurt shoulder, he was projected starter last season. One thing about Pruitt is he ain't shy about playing you if you know what he wants done regardless of class, we started 2 true frosh last year, or sitting your rear on the bench if you don't do it his way. Mostly he ain't shy.Originally posted by RammerJammer91:
Grumpy, congrats on Rico. Heck of a player. Good kid, too. Think he has a chance to get on the field as a true freshman?
Thx man, commits, flips and tension is just part of the recruiting deal, we had 9 I think this year, 3 of them ended up signing with us anyway.Originally posted by jarheadky:

Congrats to you also know UG had a rough couple weeks also but unless I'm wrong you guys are pretty solid returning so no big loss. BTW any chance you could talk to Coach Richt maybe he would do some trading for Chubb would love to have him in Blue and White, or Black, or Green as long as it said Kentucky on the front I'd be happy.

As for as working up a trade for Chubb, not sure Richt would be too interested in trading him, he turned out to be a pretty good player, probably better than expected. Good kid too.
Pretty good is an understatement kid is an absolute stud, you can't teach how he runs the ball, a kid either has that mentality or he doesn't. On a personal note noticed you mentioned track in a previous post as a parent of a high school football player, that runs track as an underclassman, do you think that track is as important for their development as the coaches preach, I'm just wondering cause our track coach is a douche and I wonder if some other types of training wouldn't be just as good.
If my skill guys weren't baseball players I wanted them running track. I always felt I could make them faster, especially the young guys by teaching them proper technique, get rid of all the wasted motion, and especially all the side to side motion. For the big guys who usually end up being throwers it helped their explosiveness. But the main thing was to be involved, keep that competitive edge. Same in winter, if a kid wasn't a basketball player I liked them to wrestle. The main thing to remember is you want to improve everyday, you aren't doing that hanging out at the mall every afternoon.Originally posted by jarheadky:

Thx man, like I said its a good board and I like posting here, but there is nothing remarkable about me, I probably know more football than most and try to be honest, good or bad and nothing is meant as a flame. Just how I see things. I am a firm believer that games are won and lost on both LOS. A good OL can make an average QB and RB look very good, but it won't work the other way around, same on the D side. You just won't believe how much better your LB become with a good DL in front of them to protect them. Personally I thought that was the biggest weaknesses of UK's team this last year not the LB everyone complained about. Our DL wasn't very good either and why our rush defense wasn't what it needed to be, but our rushers were very quick and help the secondary out quite a bit.Originally posted by railroadkat_1:

Does your school have an athletic trainer on staff? If so have your son speak to him about treatment for the shin splints. My other advice is this, have him start running bad legs on the 4X200 or drop/miss a few handoffs, that will get him off of it. But another question, what kind of surface are they running on? If the track is a fairly hard surface maybe he could have the option of doing his workouts on grass with running shoes instead of spikes. We never had a track coach who wasn't involved in the football program, usually the CC coach was female and also did girls track.Originally posted by jarheadky:

Thanks I understand what you are saying and I'm sure the coaches are thinking the same thing problem is the track coach is also the cross country coach and has admitted to me he knows very little about sprinting. He's also got the boy who's over 200 lbs. running the 4 x 200, and it's causing some helluva shin splints by the time track season is over. Tried to talk to him about it and his response has been he's trying to win track meets not football games, which I understand I'm competitive I wanna see the team win, but give me a break put the kid at the 100 and 200 meter and put an endurance runner on line for the longer runs, thanks for the insight though good luck in the off season and your spring game.

No athletic trainer, one of the asst. football coaches acts as a strength coach to help the kids with weight lifting. Spikes are optional and so I have him run in some really good running shoes, the track is synthetic. Track coach has no interest in being involved in the football team, he doesn't understand, while my son wants to win his track events he ultimately runs track to help gain an edge in football, he's not playing football to help his track times. He's currently taking about two weeks two ice and try and get them to heal up, finally got through the coaches head if his legs didn't heal he wasn't gonna finish track season it not worth a serious injury.
