Doesn't matter what class they were a part of, doesn't matter that they were one and done players, it's awesome to see Kentucky players that move on to the NBA bond like this. Glad that 3 of our bigs got to spend some time together at All-Star weekend! Pretty soon, we'll be seeing Towns, Boogie, and Davis all 3 making the big All-Star game together. :pimp:

Also thought it was great how you could see John Wall and Devin Booker sitting with Boogie, AD, and KAT during the dunk contest.

This is why any kid that has the opportunity to play for UK would be CRAZY not to become a member of the #BBN!!

I LOVE THIS!!

What a front line that would be?

Cousins Center
Towns small forward
Davis power forward

Wall, Booker, Bledsoe, Knight in the back court......

A decade ago, having three players of the quality of Booker, Noel, and Randle would have been the crowning achievement of the Smith years from an NBA perspective. Now, those three guys represent the second tier of UK's NBA connection.

Absolutely amazing, and an incredible development given that it's only taken six years to develop for Calipari.

it's crazy isn't it?
Honestly - I don't think Smith would've gotten a Booker, Noel or Randle. I'm still amazed he got PPat

True. Ironically, Smith would have coached Draymond Green had he stayed at UK, but that was when Green was an off-the-radar recruit. No one could have foreseen his transformation. If they had, there would have been a holy war from the elite coaches to obtain his services.

Every time I start to have an urge to criticize Calipari's OAD system, I just think back to the Smith years and remember the 2nd round and Sweet Sixteen losses. I think back to the USC tournament debacle in 2001, the Kansas embarrassment in 2006, the massacre at the hands of Marquette and how I openly wondered at the time, "When does this nightmare end?"

Then I find a John Wall highlight video or the compilation vid of Monk, Fox, and company, and I grab some popcorn as the wintery frost of my basketball memory begins to melt away.

question is, though - had Smith gotten Green, would he have developed the same way?

^ Do you honestly believe Karl was holding back? I think he has just continued to progress.
if you saw him against davis when he was 15 against team usa you saw the hand eye coordination and touch but he has progressed in every way since then. especially in terms of using his body to establish position inside for defensive rebound and post moves.

that's the scary thing about kat. he actually may end with as good or better all around post moves than anyone around. he couldn't maneuver around the glass last year like okafor had showed, but his post game may be better. i thought davis might have that jabbar-esque post game some day, but it looks like towns with a little stronger base probably has the most tools crazy as it sounds to get to that level. when kat gets you on his hip you got problems. this is the thing the dwight howard's of the world can't do.

i give cal major credit for making him an aggressor on the block offensive and defensively. especially offensively. down the stretch last year he showed an array of one on one moves in the post. and he has the touch to face you up and drain shots.

the funniest thing about cousins, davis, towns is they can all drill three pointers now.
