JayWilliams thinks UCLA is elite, but not based on 6K in attendance for their games. Maybe I didn't hear Seth right, but it sounds like they don't have the recruiting resources that Duke and UK have.

UNLV has Zimmerman, and I like his skillset. He would have fit in very nicely with Cal leading him.

Bryce Alford is the head of the snake @ UCLA....he gets stopped, you have control of their offense.
They like to play a 3-2 zone, so expect to see more of that.
They do like to run and gun though, so not a plodding UCLA team.

Grayson Allen >>> Bryce Alford = a UCLA loss on 12/3.
If Grayson couldn't score or penetrate on UK I don't see Alford doing much either. Briscoe will be all over him.

UCLA has assloads of talent to recruit in their neighborhood, more in one year than the state of Kentucky might produce for twenty, the hell with their budget

Agree. They could turn around almost overnight if they keep the kids instate Zona is mining.

I will add , UNLV may have a coach that is worse than Johnny Jones of LSU . They can just do what they want on offense . Which appears to be jacking up about 30 contested threes .

Allen may be a superior athlete to Alford, but Alford is way more craftier in coming up with ways to score. He may not have a great night shooting the ball, but he won't look totally incompetent either.

UCLA won't roll over like they did last year, no way. The Welsh kid looks to have gotten a lot better, Tony Parker still on and off turd

I disagree, I think Alford is more creative than Allen. Allen has size, but uses dirty play on both ends.

UCLA / Kansas is a must watch for UK fans...........that one will prepare us for 2 future wins in their gyms.

Duke and UK have 6 of the top 10 recruits (3 each) in America coming in next season.

These are your only truely elite schools these days.

North Carolina, Kansas and UCLA have all been rendered irrelevant along with all the other D1 schools by Kentucky and Duke with their recruiting over the last 5-7 yrs; especially Kentucky.

Furthermore, Duke and UK also seem to have the ability to get Freshman to play, and play well, right away. Both K and Cal are at the top, which is part of the reason these kids go there, not just the schools.

At Kansas and North Carolina, Freshman take 1-2 years to even become names. Wayne Selden? Perry Ellis? Justin Jackson? Kennedy Meeks? That's just NOW. The list goes on and on.

Duke's Jackson being top 10 is highly debatable. When a player jumps like 10 spots after it becomes aware they are a lock for a certain school like say Duke..... it becomes highly suspect of their new ranking.

Okay, so they have 7 of the top 26, and of those 26, only 21 are committed. Only Michigan State has more than one of those remaining 14 committed players and 5 of those 14 are in the backyard of the school they are committed to.

Isn't that par for the course regarding Duke recruits?

I think KU rolls UCLA today. Im honestly not the least bit worried about playing at UCLA. Id be lying to say the same about KU.

I was not overly impressed with UNLV or UCLA,they play pick-up brand of basketball.UNLV runs no offense they jack up 3's all over the place, give up decent shots to get worse ones.UCLA plays almost no defense.Zimmerman has skills but currently lacks discipline/toughness to play for Cal

I didn't get to see Ucla play, but i've never been worried about our game vs the bruins. Is their best player still the coaches son, or did Parker finally get serious and put down the big macs and play basketball? The coache's son catches a lot of crap about his talent on the fact of being the coache's son, but the kid does have talent and can play basketball. I don't think he's quick enough to guard our guards. Not many teams in the country can say that so i wouldn't take that as an insult.

Please explain. I saw nothing that indicated that Zimmerman lacked the discipline or toughness to play for Calipari.
In the parts of the game that I watched I thought he played a little too soft and looked for the outside shot more than he should,he will probably improve in those areas this year.

Bryce Alford was a top 50 or so player who never got respect as a prospect because it was a given he would play for his dad. He never played AAU. He didn't play in any all star games or tournaments. He's a legit top end player at the college level, and now as a Junior, he's a legit first team conference player. They have some other decent pieces (Parker and Welsh are a decent combo), they have some other decent younger guys (Hamilton, Bolden, Holiday).

They have no depth and no defense.

First true road game. Cal has had three teams good enough to reach the Final Four or beyond, one of them a championship winning juggernaut, that couldn't climb that mountain.

I know Pauley isn't the Dean Dome or the Hoosier house of horrors. But UCLA and their fans will be sky-high for this game, and I predict the place is packed. I know a UCLA alum and another friend who adopted the Bruins after moving out there who are going to the game, and have been waiting to remove the disgrace of last year's obliteration since halftime of that game.

The difference is...the Dean Dome or Hoosier House would be packed for #1 UK. Pauley? Maybe 6-8K. I mean, if there's a Clippers game, a Lakers game, a comic convention or any other meddling event, nobody will be at Pauley.

It's laughable to really call that a "hostile environment."

UNLV also has one of the worst coaches in the country.
This... I am watching them play chaminade. No offense at all, just jacking up bad shots. The coach looks like he would have a coaching basketball for dummies in his back pocket.

LOL, are we going to be playing in those games? What are we preparing for?
JK, it will be sn interesting game. KU by 15 though. Alford is just not a very good coach.
