A change I'd like to see made.

Take away disqualification from fouls. People pay money to see their favorite players. Just shoot free throws without fouls being assessed. Thoughts?
No. There has to be incentive not to foul. Maybe change from 5 to 6.

Get rid of going to monitor so much.
Give each coach a challenge per half. If you win the challenge, you can have another. If you lose it, it cost you a TO.

I disagree. They don't call fouls in football. You can have 15 false starts and stay in the game. The same should be for basketball. Free throws are a punishment.

I do agree with your second point.

Agree. Go to six at minimum.

Maybe after six you get shots and the ball back?

I'm not sure but I agree with the sentiment. We need to have the whole teams going at it the whole game. Refs impact should be minimized.

Hmm. How about on intentional fouls, the shooting team chooses who shoots free throws. Like penalty kicks in soccer?
I’m just not really feeling the foul rule of not keeping fouls. It’s part of the game. If you don’t want your “stars” fouling out teach them to play defense. Maybe go to what someone here suggested and go by quarters with 6 fouls maybe?

Agree. I think if a person commits their 6th + foul you could do something like shots + possession.

I want to see the men’s game go to quarters with double bonus after 5 fouls. And agree each team should have a challenge and the refs not go to the monitor on everything.

No other sport takes out its best players because of fouls penalties or infractions (aside from things like targeting in football). Why you'd ever want to do this as a league os beyond me.

During the SECT, Florida had a fan that screamed at every opponents shot. It was annoying as all get out. I wouldn't want to sit by a UK fan like that. I'd probably get kicked out telling her to STHU.
I was at a game at Rupp where there was a girl (or guy, not sure) who shrieked right when Oscar was about to let go of the ball on free throws. It was ****ed up loud! He missed and looked completely startled and everyone in the crowd looked from where it came from. He missed a few and the shriek definitely had a huge affect on him. Place was quiet and then “shriek!” It was crazy. Fans were super pissed and yelling at the girl, but she kept doing it. We lost by a couple. That chick literally cost us a win by doing that.

At the very least needs to be changed to 6 fouls. I’d like to see unlimited fouls however after 5th you get 2 shots and possession

😀We yell “BRICK!” We were convinced it made a difference in our razor thin win at Vanderbilt in 2017. 😉 Riley LaChance even missed a late game free throw in the last minute. The section was full of UK fans and it was a nail-biter blast! (I sure hope I’m not annoying, though😂)

Absolutely not. Is there no thumbs down emoji?

Can't people leave shit alone? March Madness is the greatest show on earth and people always want to be changing things. No to quarters. No to unlimited fouling.

It's the ear piercing shriek of females that are the worst. Hey, I love women, but their high pitched screams are like nails on a chalk board to me.

There's always this guy. I bet you hate the euro step, right?

No. I don't hate the euro step.

I do hate the creep of continuation into the college game.

Let college basketball be college basketball. Pros can be pros.

Paying players, quarters, etc... Leave eell enough alone. A little off topic from the question about fouls...just why the obsession with changing things. We all complained about football games in the SEC during the regular season and now we want to give em ANOTHER foul to play with.

I was watching the St. John's vs. Arkansas game. It just got me thinking. Refs can undoubtedly affect the game with fouls. They took Kadary Richmond out in 16 minutes. Big Z hardly got to play either. I just think the officials have to much power.

I agree with you. The potential is there. But the solution is to improve officiating. Let's have ref accountability and standardization from conference to conference.

I'd rather they just make all fouls automatic 1 and 1's. If you foul on the tip, it goes straight to the free throw line. It would get rid of the fouls to give as well. No more fouling to disrupt the other team from getting a chance at a shot because you don't have 7 team fouls used yet. Just play defense. I'd also maybe make all free throws 1 and 1's. I'm sick of seeing missed free throws. Time to penalize you for missing them and not give you a second chance. It might make players take them more seriously.

There definitely needs to be disqualification due to fouls. The number can be debated, but the rule needs to remain. The difference is in football there is a reward for the opposition when an infraction is committed. That doesn’t exist in basketball. There is the possibility of a reward, but it is not guaranteed.

Offense doesn’t get bonus from free throws(on shooting fouls) - make em 3 shots or 4 if a 3 pointer. Loose ball is 2 after 5.

I've got a few hundred I'd like changed but mainly:

1. Coaches need to stay on the sideline- anytime they are on the court during live ball action is 2pts and the ball for the opponent.

2. Players need to QUIT with the throwing the ball to the official nonsense. FT or Shot is made--and guy on inbounding team has the ball and then throws it to the official--just inbound the damn ball and get on with it and if he does throw it--officials keep the count going and give them a 5 second call.

3. Wipe out team fouls at 10 min mark of the game.

4. Limit timeouts to 1 per Half--or you can carryover and have 2 per game. With 8 TV stoppages in a game-these timeouts are absurd.

5. Don't allow the ball to be inbounded into the backcourt on baseline OOB plays after team has established possession in the frontcourt. Coaches need to figure out inbounds play-it's part of their job-not to be rewarded by skipping it in practices and just being bailed out by having the entire court to utilize after you have ball in the frontcourt already.

Maybe once you get past 5 on a player, it is an automatic 2 free throws plus the ball back. That would stop a lot of fouling as well.

To add to yours, I'd like timeouts
within 1 minute of the TV timeout will be considered the TV timeout. I hate back to back timeouts.

Continuation is horrible (“he was thinking about shooting it, so let’s reward him”, not quite there but getting closer, WTF).

Charges do/should exist. No more bully ball, causing players to charge their way to the goal with reckless abandon is just asking for more injuries. I think a middle ground would be it’s a charge if once defender is in position the guy with ball has not yet started his upward lift it’s a charge. So his foot/feet could still be on the floor when defender plants but be a block call.

Each coach gets 2 monitor reviews. If BOTH successful, then get a 3rd.

Keep fouls as they are, there should be a punishment for over fouling. Some argue “but NBA allows 6 fouls”; yes but NBA games are 20% longer thus permit 20% more fouls before ejection.

I’m ok if go to quarters, but don’t hate halves.
If halves, 1&1 start on 1st foul, but don’t go to 2shots until 12th.
If quarters, 1&1 on 1st, 2 shots on 6th.
Maybe if foul on offense then no FT until in bonus, but then is 1&1.

Fix the blocking/goaltending rule, so that they don’t call it when in doubt.

Please please call the foul when offensive player Hooks defender, illegal/moving screens, and when he initiates contact (no more bully ball, use skill to score).

Foul (1 shot tech, ball remains with who had it) on shooters for flopping. They can review these during timeouts and award the FT later, unless in final 4 minutes, then must be reviewed either immediately or next stoppage of play.
