A blip from KSR….

Holy Cross is pretty bad and in a crappy conference, the Patriot League. Anyway, here are his stats:

https://goholycross.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats
Conferences and team success really don't matter much with the transfer portal. So many guys coming from lesser programs to make big impacts. The final four last year had Cam Spencer (Loyola MD), Lance Jones (SIU), DJ Horne (Illinois State), DJ Burns (Winthrop), Aaron Estrada (Saint Peters/Hofstra), Grant Nelson (NDSU) and so on.

If a guy can play, a guy can play.

DWBT - You are probably right on it being Cross, but there is 12-15 Ky kids playing around CBB that are making an impact, although most are seniors. Kenny White at Morehead, Ben Johnson at Bellarmine, Ipsaro and Potter at Miami OH, Buttry at EKU, Vinson at NKU, Dynes at Youngstown are a few others. ~Most of these would be bench role players at first.

That would be tampering. You can’t legally reach out until he enters the portal.
Ha Ha Lol GIF

Everybody follows the rules man.

For sure. Green just seems like the most logical to me. He also seems like a player pope would really like

double digits in 21-26 games as a true freshman sounds like he has a ton of potential despite playing on a bad team in a crappy conference.
Holy Cross may suck but their SOS is 182.

Last year on this date our current best-performing power forward, who was recently leading the SEC in perimeter shooting in-conference, was playing at Fairleigh Dickinson with their SOS ranked 306.

Didn’t someone mention a SC recruit as a possibility?
uhh, that was Noah, last year.

Edit: didn't know about EJ Walker, but he's not currently playing at SC. Thought this was a guy currently playing NCAA ball.

Bring on some Kentucky boys!

They are about the only players that you can count on to stick around for a few years and develop.

We have 15 scholarships. If Oweh, Garrison, Chandler, Perry, and Noah return, plus Johnson, Moreno, and Lewis, then you still have 7 scholarships left.

Add three elite Portal guys (a starting PG, starting PF, and backup PF).

That sill leaves 4 spots

Add Green (Holy Cross), Meyer(DePaul), Porter (Liberty), and Walker(HS).

That would make over half the team Kentucky boys.

Kentucky boys usually play for the name on the front of the jersey, not the back, so I am all for adding Kentucky kids.

Max Green
EJ Walker
Colin Porter

Are these all really potential additions?
I doubt that they are. Maybe one of them, but even there I haven't read anything suggesting it's percolating behind the scenes (maybe some have some information on that, though). I think Porter is probably not going to want to be a 13th - 15th man scenario for UK, which is what I would guess it would be. But Walker and Green are a much different situation. If they don't have things that would make them potential negatives (e.g., attitude, entitlement, chemistry, etc.), then I think either or both could be good additions. With Green, while you usually can't have too many good players, he is sort of duplicative of Noah, I think - and Noah is better in my opinion (and was in high school too). But I would still be happy for UK land Green if he entered the portal, as long as it wasn't at the expense of a more pressing need. Walker, however, is one I would like to see UK steal. He looks like a good SF development gamble to me.

I have a family member who knows the family of Max Green. Kansas, Louisville, as well as others have already reached oute.
how could they have contacted him already? I thought everyone had to wait until he was in the portal"?
