That is what we are averaging through the first 5 games. I don't recall us ever averaging that many points for the first 5 of any of Cal's previous teams.
We give up 70.2 ppg, and that's without a frontcourt. I think we are doing good all things considered. We need to as bad as the D has been.
Our def rating on Kenpom has gone from mid 30's to mid 50's just since this game. Dropping us from 14 to 18 over all rating on Kenpom. Cal should hire a defensive specialist since he doesn't seem to teach it. I am posting from memory. If I am wrong tell me so. So we are becoming another Iowa.We need to as bad as the D has been.
To be fair, a more honest take is what we average per 40 minutes. Only scored 77 in regulation and that would’ve brought the ppg down a bit. That is what we are averaging through the first 5 games. I don't recall us ever averaging that many points for the first 5 of any of Cal's previous teams.
If that was the case, there would be 2 separate categories. One for PPG in regulation and 1 in OT. So I think the most honest take is to do it like every metric service and look at PPG as a whole. To be fair, a more honest take is what we average per 40 minutes. "Play random" = Loads of talent to cover up his inability to run a meaningful offense schemeCal has completely changed his offensive philosophy.
2017 is the only team who had firepower like this. That is what we are averaging through the first 5 games. I don't recall us ever averaging that many points for the first 5 of any of Cal's previous teams.
I agree, we are setup for a really good overall team. It’s nice.Cal has completely changed his offensive philosophy. It’s what fans wanted but they still complain. Once the bigs are back, D will change.
The offensive scheme is outstanding this year. What are you watching?"Play random" = Loads of talent to cover up his inability to run a meaningful offense scheme
Seriously. The offensive scheme is outstanding this year. What are you watching?
The real question is will he stick with it when he gets more size on the floor. The offensive scheme is outstanding this year. What are you watching?
You don’t know basketball then. The passing and sets are the best he’s had so far. The way the picked apart that zone last game has not been seen before from his teams."Play random" = Loads of talent to cover up his inability to run a meaningful offense scheme
Well the two new big men can shoot the three so probably but with more inside presence as well. The Denver Nuggets laugh at small ball. The real question is will he stick with it when he gets more size on the floor.
That should depend on which big we get first and skill set. Cals not forcing AB to post up but ugo idk and Z well who knowsThe real question is will he stick with it when he gets more size on the floor.
Doesn’t change the reality that they weren’t an offensive juggernaut tonight. They couldn’t manage 80 points in regulation. If that was the case, there would be 2 separate categories. One for PPG in regulation and 1 in OT. So I think the most honest take is to do it like every metric service and look at PPG as a whole.
We have played one good team and Dilly put on a show against them in the first half. Let’s wait for another ranked team before jumping to such conclusions.Seriously.
I've hammered Cal for 2 years over the offense. We're watching good basketball for the first time in a long time.
I know it sucks when you have to grasp at straws to find something to complain about especially this years offense. It really shows your agenda or lack of basketball knowledge.Doesn’t change the reality that they weren’t an offensive juggernaut tonight. They couldn’t manage 80 points in regulation.

I feel like too many people are forgetting that St. Joes lost to what will be one of the worst teams in division one. We’re talking bottom 20 to 30 teams.
Exactly! You get it.Doesn’t change the reality that they weren’t an offensive juggernaut tonight. They couldn’t manage 80 points in regulation.

Lol, if you say so, bud.Doesn’t change the reality that they weren’t an offensive juggernaut tonight. They couldn’t manage 80 points in regulation.

Because their bread and butter is the three ball and they were off that night. They obviously were on tonight. Hit a bunch of contested threes. There's just something about opponents in Rupp. This isn't just a Cal thing. One particular game amongst many that stand out were the Crispin brothers from Penn State. They could've beaten the Bulls that game. Difference today is that we also have shooters. And more than any team I can remember at UK.I feel like too many people are forgetting that St. Joes lost to what will be one of the worst teams in division one. We’re talking bottom 20 to 30 teams.
What a pathetic attempt to extinguish any positivity that might creep into the program. Let me guess, you want Cal fired? To be fair, a more honest take is what we average per 40 minutes. Only scored 77 in regulation and that would’ve brought the ppg down a bit.
By the way, it's official. He can't have children. What a pathetic attempt to extinguish any positivity that might creep into the program. Let me guess, you want Cal fired?
Cal hasn't changed anything except the players. Last 3 seasons we haven't the players to play like Cal wants. That's on him for bring in all those transfers. He's gone back to his roots.Cal has completely changed his offensive philosophy. It’s what fans wanted but they still complain. Once the bigs are back, D will change.
Then you haven’t watched the last 5 years.Cal hasn't changed anything except the players. Last 3 seasons we haven't the players to play like Cal wants. That's on him for bring in all those transfers. He's gone back to his roots.
I will counter your point by saying: Arkansas lost to a very poor team a few days ago at home. Does that mean a win over them would not have value? St. Joe will be very dangerous in their league this year. Wouldn't be surprised if they win it. Also, the worst time to play a good team is when they are coming back from a bad loss, esp if the team they are playing is ranked like Ky.Doesn’t change the reality that they weren’t an offensive juggernaut tonight. They couldn’t manage 80 points in regulation.

He also brought in a new assistant to help modernize his scheme. You can give credit to Cal for making that adjustment, but there have definitely been adjustments beyond the players on the court.Cal hasn't changed anything except the players. Could it have something to do with the other schools that we know were buying the top recruits during that period?Cal hasn't changed anything except the players. Last 3 seasons we haven't the players to play like Cal wants. That's on him for bring in all those transfers. He's gone back to his roots.
I agree. I am curious how much our offense changes when we get our bigs though .Cal has completely changed his offensive philosophy. It’s what fans wanted but they still complain. Once the bigs are back, D will change.
