8/31 Depth Chart

I find it interesting that Bell is behind FH and Miggins at DE. That means (1) he could not compete with the two young guys that are filling in while Hatcher sits his punishment or (2) his skill set was different than the coaches originally thought?
Stoops said yesterday that they tried him at the OLB (stand-up) positions, but he is better with a hand in the dirt.

That is what I assumed. So, should he RS? What does this say about Dubose's development?

And, will Miggins pass Farrington like Flannigan passed Henderson last year?

Stoops mentioned playing him at DE so he doesn't have to play on his feet. It may take a little longer for him to make the transition from a DE to LB which is what staff was hoping he could do. I believe they initially looked at him at the Jack position also. That position carries a lot of responsibilities scheme wise and he got here late so that could be part of it

We are amazingly young on offense so that side of the ball should be very exciting this and the upcoming years. But on Defense, we better get something done this year. We have a lot of Seniors on that side of the ball. We will have a lot to replace next year.

Disagree completely. 2016's defense is shaping up to be very good, and will be a substantial improvement over last year & this year. Lack of depth & linebacker, experience at cornerback are eliminated in 2016.

Not really worried about the youth except for LB/DE.

The freshmen corners, GAA and RS safeties beat out experience.

+1
A sign of an improving program is when starters are replaced by something besides graduation. While it sucks for the player losing his spot, it is awesome for the team when you just get "better" at some positions.
Coaching makes more of a difference in football than any other sport - but at the end of the day - its mostly about the on-field talent. I'm pumped to see an improved product on the field!

A pound of anything will weigh the same as a pound of anything if you're a smartass.

If you look at Elam now vs when he first arrived, you can tell an enormous difference (no pun intended).

A pound of fat has about twice the volume as a pound of lean muscle. If you guys want to settle this beef (or just prove that the basketball fan is being a massive SA), post the two pics.

If you look at the second and third stringers at many positions on this defense, I think you have to admit that some of those guys are starting in years past. West, Edwards, Randolph, Harmon, Tiller, Miggins, CJ, Elam, etc. That is good news for this year.

well, not really that young at linebacker sitting out this season but will play in '16. Love(Nebraska) & Laster(Minnesota) are gonna be physically mature guys who will know the schemes & the coaches will know them.

27 freshmen and sophomore listed in the two deep (12 positions on O and D)... A bit scary...

No Tucker mentioned. After hearing he was doing good things on the practiced squad last year, that surprises me.

Yeah, but also EXCITING! Awesome to watch this young team WIN and go to a bowl, knowing how many more years we are gonna get to watch these excellent ballplayers.
