50 highest paid former SEC players in NBA, NFL and MLB

Have to admit, I didn't know many of those guys. Forgot Carroll went to Vandy too.
UK players will dominate that in a few years. Hard to believe Horford makes 4 million more that AD per year.

Cal's comment about the NBA Draft night being UK's greatest night has some merit.

Beal is good an all but he isnt a top 20 player and that is what he is currently getting paid as.

I think he averaged over 23ppg last season. Perhaps not a top-20 player now, but considering his youth.... certainly one of the best young players. And so in order to lock him up, the wizards have to pay him partially on what he will be, as much as for what he is.

I agree it is the day of guys being overpaid and the Wiz need him regardless.

Just the way it works. Guys who have signed the most recent contracts will typically make the most money.

A few notes...

UK makes up 16% of that last. Not bad at all. Didn't crunch the numbers but our percentage of overall salary on that list will be higher than that.

Wall is about to move up to the top of that list.

Nerlens could be on that list shortly.

Look ahead 5 years, when guys like Wall, AD, Cousins, Towns, Booker are all maxed (if not super maxed), and Fox, Monk, Murray, etc. are on their second deals. WOW.
