4pm Headlines: Jamal Murray Not Choosing Kentucky? One Site Thinks So

Well I think if he wanted to play for Kentucky, he be here. Go sign somewhere else, we'll live. Give me Maker.
We have enough guards anyway.

I agree with this. I would love to get him but we are loaded with talent at the guard spot right now to lead us as far as the rest can help take us. The guard spots are solid with or without him

Maker can not reclassify til January at best. According to Jamal Murray's father his school work is or about to be finished .Roger, tells ESPN that his son is on track to reclassify to 2015. “Technically, if he wanted to reclassify tomorrow, I think he could,” Murray Sr. said.

Really? Did you watch the game? You don't think Alex would have been a difference maker in that game? If not, explain to me why. I'd love to hear that.
I didn't say he wouldn't have contributed to the team bro, damn.. You said we would've won the game if he had played and I thought differently.. Explain how they beat themselves? Well I guess I could start out with they shot like shit and a couple of players not having the best defensive games of their life.. That good enough?

You're right. But it should have been an easy decision for Zimmerman, Brown, and Newman too. As long as Oregon has been on Murray, and with the team they have, him choosing Oregon would be the LEAST weird of the 4 in my opinion.

2 of the 3 stayed home, the other wanted to team up with his friend, he also stated many times that he did not like attention
Calipari made their decisions hard, he made them strongly consider a team (UK) that was not the home team or where their friend was playing

For all of the posters suggesting that its an easy decision for Murray to attend Oregon if he wants to play the point. I suggest you take a look at Oregon's roster. They have added Ennis from Villanova(who has been told he is playing the point) Tyler Dorsey and have more perimeter players than Kentucky. If Murray picks Oregon, its because of the relationships he as with the players and the assistant coach and will have NOTHING to do with the roster of either team.

They all had their reasons just like Murray would. Oregon has been on him a long time so there's probably a bit of loyalty there. And like the Brown situation, Murray has a friend going to Oregon. For a potential #1 pick like Brown to go to Cal because his buddy is there instead of Kentucky that has produced (probably) 3 number one picks in the last 6 years is ridiculous. But it happened.
I'm not saying I think he'll go to Oregon. I still think we have a really good shot. Probably better than 50% in my mind (which admittedly means zilch). I'm just saying it wouldn't shatter my world with confusion if he chose Oregon.

BS. We have a guy many consider one of the best PGs in the country coming back. We're adding the best PG in the country. We have also have a JUCO AA, Jordan Brand AA and an experienced junior.

We're definitely solid in the backcourt and potentially great.

Would love to see him at UK but don't have a good feeling about it. I just think if this kid wanted to come to UK he would've already committed.

I'd love to see him here but agree with this. I think he has friends elsewhere and believes that the school itself doesn't have much to do with his chance in the pros. And players do get drafted from all over the place. Why it has taken to the middle of June (and beyond!) is a mystery. But I'm an impulse decider. Even -- or particularly -- for major things. (Marriage. Building a house. Etc.) Fortunately so is the wife. And fortunately most people are happy with whatever choices they make. Otherwise there wouldn't be anyone living in places like Biloxi or Skagway.

Pretty good point made. The kid wants to do what's best for him long-term (per his father), and Oregon has zero (count it, 0) scholarships available. With their next semester coming up very soon, their scholarships may all be finalized for the next year very soon. Unless they cut a player this close to the next semester, and knowingly screw the kid over (I'm sure Oregon, and that coach don't want that publicity), Murray would have to walk on to Oregon.. OR take a scholarship to UK.
Doesn't seem like a tough pick.

I thought that had a scholarship open?

Oregon has 12 scholarship players.

SENIORS - Dylan Ennis, Elgin Cook, Dwayne Benjamin
JUNIORS - Chris Boucher
SOPHOMORES - Ahmaad Rorie, Casey Benson, Dillon Brooks, Jordan Bell, Roman Sorkin
FRESHMAN - Kendall Small, Tyler Dorsey, Trevor Manuel

Their current scholarship window includes 10 guys who have transferred and another who left the team. They have no issues getting Murray if he wants to be there.

I realize that he can't commit until he reclassifies, however, if he were so high on UK why is he still taking visits? I just have a bad feeling that he ends up at Oregon because of the 'intangibles".

He can commit anytime, but he can't sign. A kid can commit at any time once they get an offer.

He'll likely announce, then show up and sign scholarship papers before he starts classes.

Enjoying the process! :grimace:

In all seriousness regardless if he visits anywhere else its a 2-legged race...UK or Oregon

I agree that it's between UK and Oregon but the longer it draws out I don't think it plays into our favor.

I don't see how the timeframe factors either way. He can not enroll anywhere until he reclassifies and that is what he is waiting for.

Is there an opinion that Murray and Ulis can't coexist? I apparently don't hve enough info to understand that Murray couldn't do that.
From what I have read and understood, he could make just about any team in the nation, and will be long gone by the end of the year.
Some powerhouse teams just don't have any room, but we do as it appears.

Because it gives Oregon more time to work on him using the players he's familiar with.

Or it could give him more time to contemplate how bad a business decision it would be to go there instead of UK.

Every time I have made an unwise business decision it's one I made in haste.

If UK truly is the best decision for him, which I believe it is, then the longer he waits and the more time he thinks about it, the more likely he is to make a good decision.

Patiently thinking things through is usually a smart idea.

But just like your statement, it's all just opinion.

It could be good or bad for UK. We won't know what is going on in his head during this time until he tells us.

I just don't think it's fair to write this kid off as a loss just because he is "taking too long."

I can see why he's considering Oregon but I really hope Cal can convince him to come to UK. Not writing him off but he's still a kid and who knows what he's thinking.

Can we just see what happens instead of making post about it every day? I like our team the way it is anyway.. If Murray comes that's a bonus and if he doesn't, one player isn't going to take UK to a title. For all we know he could end up like wiggins..

Lol "like Wiggins" - you mean the #1 draft pick and ROY??

We get Wiggins and we win the title that year.

Hey MegaBlue, I have a Master's degree in which I put to use by teaching English. So, I am substantially familiar with how and when to use punctuation. So, you can take your sunshining keyboard warrioring behind back to save a lot and stock some sodas. As far as me being disliked on a message board? lol, well I have real friends so I could care less, unlike you.
I'm not going to pick on fragments, capitalization, and petty stuff like that. Even without pedantic nitpicking, there are two items in this post that would never escape the keyboard of a qualified English teacher.

Someone else already picked on "could care less", so let me ask you about that first statement.

What are you putting inside your master's degree? Did you leave a sandwich in there? Your season UL tickets?

You are qualified to teach English like I am qualified to jockey a horse at the Derby - and I'm around 210 at the moment.

That joester guy is a troll. I have reported him already for his attack on me and his post was deleted. I also checked out his comments and all he seems to do is attack others and talk down UK. I honestly think he is a U of L fan trolling our board.

Yep.. ( like wiggins ) the one that didn't live up to the hype in college.. At least for me he didn't.. And you don't know what the hell we would've done if he went to UK..

He averaged 17/6/2 at Kansas...if that's not living up to the hype I have no idea what you expected.

Wiggins did live up to the hype. He was the #1 pick in the draft and is averaging 17 points per game in the NBA.
