3rd and long

I agree. Opposing QBs have too much time to find an open receiver 15 yds down the field. Of course, if you blitz you better get there.

I'm still flabbergasted by the "why don't we blitz more" crowd, as I mentioned last week.

If you go back and look at this season, we have great success playing zone. Almost all the big plays given up (ground or air) is when we blitz. Ole miss killed us the first half when we blitzed. Second we went to zone and shut them down.

Same thing vs sc. They ran picks and runs all game and got their receivers open when we'd blitz and play man. I have no idea why we blitzed so much other than the staff really felt like we needed to force something big to help the offense. If we just stayed in zone, no way they convert all the rubs/picks and even scrambles for firsts.

This week zone will be even more important. Playing man vs leach is asking for it. Zone always really hurts that offense since back at his days here.

Should always blitz 3rd and long. How many times has it been 3rd and 12 and their quarterback has ages to throw to get a first down?
