3 of the top 8 players in the NBA finals played for Cal at Kentucky

It's almost like basketball is a team sport.

Murray didn't have any front court in 2016.

Bam was cheated by the official and was one possession away.

Herro almost made it as well but lost in OT.

Did our fans make these same threads about prince back in the day? Or Rondo? Or Meeks?

Yes they did make these threads about Prince and Rondo.

Many high talent teams at UK just didn't have enough oomph to overcome the poor in-game coaching of Cow.

What does Prince, Rondo, and Meeks have to do with Cal? Move the goalposts all you want, but Cal is the one that loves to flaunt all his NBA guys. Some of us simply point out that he's somehow amazingly underachieving with all that talent he loves to take credit for.

Yeah, 2 of the 3 were 1 basket away from F4, both losing in OT, 1 with obvious cheating in the 1st half of the game, the other with a lot of questionable no-calls in the last 5-10min.
And yeah, had Johnson returned in 16 he would have improved the team more than his talent would make you think, and that Murray/Ulis team could have been very special.

K. Love is the only one I think. Interesting to see how little the production in college is an indicator of their output in the pros.
Even just looking at the top players in the NBA that went to college I’m wondering how many went to the final four ? I guess it looks worse for us since we have multiple guys in there .

I know basketball junkies like you understand it implicitly. But it’s amazing to me that even the most casual of fan seemingly can’t understand the developmental difference between a college freshman and, for instance, a 3rd year pro. The two things are not comparable. You can’t look at the NBA finals and ask “how could Calipari lose with a (freshman) X, Y or X player,” and make me believe you understand the game of basketball.

I'm defending the players not calipari. The OP was taking shots at them for not making a final four in their one year in college.

We have had other guys make the nba finals from UK that didn't go to a final four in 3 or 4 years at UK.

I misinterpret the thread as it was just another calipari bash thread so my bad.

No worries.

Yup that sums it up . Also in a one and done format anything can happen . It’s not like we are losing best out of 7 series . Now I do agree these last few years have been dreadful(which is why I bash Cal) but I also recognize how hard it is to win a championship.

Exactly. We only get glimpses of what they’re going to be. Booker is one that stands out to me as fairly unimpressive for the most part while here and completely off the charts good as a pro.

I've made this point before but people don't care.

If we had a one game playoff n nba this year the clippers and kings would have advanced in west.

In easy Philly beat Boston game 1 so they advance.

Maybe if the sec and big 10 go to a semi pro league we can get a better tournament with series.

Maybe Adam Silver will give Cal a lifetime achievement award for stocking NBA rosters with talented players.
