2025 Reds

My cable package doesn't include Fan Duel network so I guess no Reds for me anymore. Used to be FS Ohio then Bally Sports Ohio.
I don't know if you subscribe to Amazon Prime Video or not, that is your best option. If not, subscribe to Fan Duel directly or do what Noci said. Use a VPN and can get them through MLB TV. Will be able to get every game with the use of a VPN in a city outside of Reds country.

A lot of us had to make changes to how we view TV. Have to get with the times and start streaming if you want to watch everything you once had. It may be inconvenient for some, but this is the way it is now.
FWIW Fan Duel is very user friendly, pretty happy that I signed up

That is good to hear that Fan Duel is a better platform. The Bally Sports app was really buggy and rarely would it let me sign in to watch the games with the TV credentials. Can't speak on how it was directly subscribing to them as I eventually figured out how to stream them with DTV. Happy to hear that Fan Duel is a different experience now. The way it should be.

Loving that India/Singer trade even more after tonight. 7 shutout innings. I wasn't too familiar with Brady in KC. His breaking balls are nasty. Keeping the ball in the yard will bode well for him at GABP. Hope he keeps it up in the summer months. Saw on X KC fans really missing him. Elly De La Cruz with a couple of home runs. The Reds offense showed up tonight. EDLC was a triple away from the cycle and drove in 7. He has shown glimpses in the past, just need to see him take it to the next level over the course of an entire season. Texas using a position player Ezequiel Duran in the 8th!

Singer not a real hard thrower but works fast and throws strikes, great combination there. Unless he moved to outfield, there was no place for India. McClain is simply the better player much younger with a higher upside.

Another goose egg for the Reds. Greene pitched well but the run support was not there again.

14 runs in a 3 game series should usually be good enough to take two out of three and in THIS series, with 3 excellent starts from the rotation, it would have been good for all three. But the Reds, in their infinite wisdom, saw fit to get all 14 in one game. Who couldn't have predicted it from this bunch? 2025 looking a lot like 2024.

I'm going to sound like a whiny c-word, but it's just not fair. We're a small market franchise that's done a LOT of things right, and we're sitting here with 2 really good starting pitchers on the DL, our DH might as well be on the DL, our catcher on the DL, and our starting right fielder on the DL. That's just way too much for a team like the Reds to overcome.

The good news is that our starting pitching has been outstanding. You keep running out guys who give you 6 innings and 1 run, and anything can happen. But GD, let's get a healthy Steer, Hays, and Stephenson in the lineup like now.

We needed more outfield help. Hopefully Hays gets back soon, but we could have also used a banger. Our current outfield may break the record for least amount of home runs in a season.
Im not a big supporter of current ownership of either Reds or Bengals.

The Reds need to get Tyler Stephenson back healthy and in the lineup in the worst way. His bat is sorely missed. I see Steer going to the IL as soon as Hays is back. If so, he will be out for a while. This shoulder tendinitis bothered him all of last year and did not go away over the entire offseason. Hays will not be the savior for the Reds. I believe his 2021 season hitting 22 home runs & 71 RBIs is an outlier for his career. .260, 16 HRs & 60-67 RBI's are on par for a typical season when he is healthy and that is not going to cut it. Being better than Fraley isn't setting the bar high. It is one thing to have a shit hot spring training facing pitchers getting ready for the season and team's minor league players. I hope I am wrong and he has a great season, but tempering my expectations. Krall should have traded some of those infield prospects they've stockpiled and go out to get a proven major league outfielder that will bring some power to the lineup.

Cincinnati only mustered up 2 hits on Nestor Cortes who got smoked last week for 8 runs. It has been over 3 games now since the Reds have put up a run. 28 scoreless innings and counting. 3 straight 1-0 losses. Pissed away a damn good start by Nick Lodolo.

Actually, Reds last 3 starters have pitched well. No run support has just screwed it up for them.

The Reds can't wait that long. He needs to be put on the injured list ASAP as that was the original plan to begin with. At this point, I would pick up an aging JD Martinez with the lack of options out there with the anemic production the offense is getting. Especially from the outfield. Everyone knew what the hell the problems were going into the season and the FO took the cheapest route towards addressing the issue. You will only get what you pay for.

Team is the total opposite of 25 years ago when the Reds had a stout lineup but zero pitching. So they'd lose 12-10 and 11-9, lol. Remember when Brandon Claussen was the future??

It wouldn't be the worst thing for the Reds to have signed veterans like JD Martinez. The 2010-12 teams had players like Orlando Cabrera, Scott Rolen, Ramon Hernandez, Edgar Renteria, Jim Edmonds briefly, Arthur Rhodes and Miguel Cairo who had been around the block. They filled the weak spots in the lineup and bench back then. Rolen was the most impactful, and the rest gave the team veteran leadership that this team is lacking.

Gavin Lux was the beneficiary of hitting in a lineup with Freeman, Ohtani, Smith, Hernandez and Betts. The Reds do not have those impact bats in the lineup. EDLC is an exciting player full of hype but hasn't proved the ability to carry a team when mired in these abysmal slumps. Votto was that guy in Cincinnati for many years. EDLC is nowhere near that level. It is year 3, with the hype around him and already being an All-Star, it is more than fair to expect better results out of De La Cruz if he is going to be as good as everyone thinks he should be.

Elly being typical Elly thus far.....one good game a week has Sadak screaming and Larkin labeling him for HOF. It is time for him to start showing some consistency at a minimum.

Take out the 2 HR game, and he is 4-23 w/ 7 K's. And enough w/ the side/under throws....he almost muffed the easy one to home last night, and that is generally the reason for his throwing errors to first or making it harder on the 1B.

It reminds me of something someone said a few years back about college and Pro basketball. If you are not doing well, and you do something good (hit a game winner, posterize dunk on someone) make a big deal about it in front of the cameras and people will remember you for that and not the poor showings you have had in the past leading up to that.

It is hard to believe this organization has squandered the excitement from a 12 game win streak and good young core from 2 years ago. But they have. Practically no effort to add impact players on offense.

Painful to watch. It’s a long season but it’s hard to see where the offense is going to come from.

Nick Martinez $21 million contract, Jeimer Candelario's $45 million contract would have paid for a legitimate outfielder that brings much needed offense to the lineup. I'm aware what Martinez did in the 2nd half last year. The Reds will have a plethora of options in the rotation when Lowder/Abbott return. I get the concerns over the injuries the rotation has taken in the past, but what the hell is all of this pitching doing for the Reds when they are struggling to score runs. What a lazy ass grounder by Candelario. This team is pitiful. It is a long season and the losses are going to keep mounting up with this weak lineup.

I'll be damned. The scoreless innings streak ends on a CES sac fly.

Glad the losing streak ends and the offense showed some life. Home runs from CES, Dunn, Trevino and Friedl (4-5). It is time to move on from Fraley and let Dunn develop in the outfield. Prove he can be worthy of a roster spot or move on with the shape the outfield is in. Fraley was a decent hitter when healthy his first couple of seasons, but saw his power completely zapped last year. Never been impressed with him defensively with his history of gaffes, especially in RF. Reminiscent of that screwup he had last season in Texas.

Hunter Greene was sharp again tonight. Pitched the longest game of his career. Crying about a glove he has used for 2 years, such BS. Didn't hinder him whatsoever. Keep Blake Dunn in the lineup and give him some run to develop. Came through with the 2-run double and a home run Saturday.

First series win for the Reds. Hope they finish off the sweep tomorrow afternoon. Another fabulous start by Lodolo. Great to have him healthy.

Outside of Lodolo's outstanding start, Spencer Steer has hits in 3 straight games. 2 doubles tonight. One of his outs to LF may have been a home run on a summer night in GABP. Can only hope he is rounding the corner while playing through pain.

Best ERA of any MLB rotation. Hmm.

Light years premature. Greene and Lodolo should be fine if they stay healthy. Singer is the wildcard given his past. Spiers is awful, and had no business in the rotation, and Martinez was the worst $21M ever spent. The last 3 spots will be a dice roll most of the season.

Still have no idea what the Reds saw when they signed Candelario - I have yet to see any sign that he's anything other than a mediocre hitter. At best.

What they saw in Candelario is the desperation of trying to find a veteran bat in the free agent market. Unfortunately, this is what happens when you try to play that game. He's a career .239 hitter with a sub-100 ops+, and he's in his 30s. For him to suddenly turn into a great baseball player would be an absolute shock.

Thoughts......

- this team simply cannot win without a healthy Matt McClain in the lineup. That guy is REALLY starting to piss me off.
- I don't like calling Marte or Benson back up to the big league club this soon. I know the organization doesn't say it like this out loud, but those guys deserve a little punishment for their awful performances in 2024. And 10 games isn't long enough.
- early returns on Ashcraft's move to the 'pen look GREAT.
- Nick Martinez will be fine. Is $21 million a lot of money? Yes, of course. But it's ONE year. You can't really cripple a club on a 1 year deal, and he can be valuable in the pen, as a spot starter, etc. He'll be fine.
- Hunter Greene is a legit ace. Even after an injury shortened 2024, he still finished 8th in Cy Young voting.
- I love Nick Lodolo, and always have. His stuff is off the charts. What seemed to derail him last year is that he couldn't throw his out pitch without developing blisters. He had to relearn to throw it, basically. Hard to even understand, but that guy has ace stuff, and I love watching him pitch.

Let's get greedy and bust out the brooms today.
