2015-16 Lindy's College basketball Preseason Magazine with top 10

1. Maryland
2. North Carolina
3. Kentucky
4. Indiana
5. Virginia
6. Kansas
7. Wichita state
8. Villanova
9. Duke
10. Iowa State

I don't know how to link on the new format but the regional cover has Tyler Ulis and Mongok Mathiang

UNCheats has most of their team back from last year but I still don't understand how they are considered the 2nd best team. UK lost a lot but they also have a lot coming in to replace them.

Shouldn't people have learned their lesson with Nova last season?

Also, where did Indiana come from?

What's the love for Maryland??
Hey they beat Wisconsin last year.
Team returns a lot of starters, adds stud frosh big man Diamond Stone, rebounding transfer from GT, a juco guard and Rasheed Suememan from Duke.

Nothing really surprising, except IU at 4. That's just kind of weird. It seems UNC and Maryland are who the media are slating at that top spot in everything I've seen regarding preseason polls.

I think well be a top 10 team all year. Might have a few early slip ups, and the SEC should be a tougher task but I think come march well be in the mix for a 1 seed.

The Hoosiers will be excellent offensively and fun to watch but again will be terrible on D and we'll have to see how ready Bryant is as he is all they have down low.

I'm not saying Virginia doesn't deseve their ranking, but I still think their inability to score with the elite teams is going to be their undoing. No matter how good you are defensively, at some point in a big game the score is going to go beyond 65 points(their average ppg last year) and you'd better be able to score beyond it. Will they be able to do that in 2016?

I'm sure they'll be outstanding in the regular season like the last two years and their lack of offense will hurt them in March.

I to am surprised IU is that high though they'll have a very good team. Same for Wichita State, and am a bit surprised Duke isn't a bit higher. Seems a reasonable first take though. UNC, UVa, and Duke should once again make the ACC pretty tough going for the rest of the conference. I almost included Maryland in that list. It's taking me a bit of getting used to them being in the Big 10. Just seems wrong.

LOL Maryland has no business above 5 or 6 and IU and Nova have no business in the top 10, like at all. UNCheat and UK are the only 2 choices for 1 really .

I think if UNC is going to get the benefit of the doubt for returning a lot of guys then I think you have to give Maryland similar treatment. (Plus the Terps are adding an elite recruit) Wisconsin only lost four games last year and one of those was to Maryland.

Maybe, but UNC is also coached by a guy with two national titles and Maryland is coached by a guy whose resume is average and who has never coached a team with such expectations.

I guess we should withdraw from competition as we stand no chance now. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Actually, I think its a good poll for a conversation starter. I was a bit surprised by the relative lack of respect for Duke. On a political note, since I no longer consider North Carolina a university, I don't think they should be eligible for consideration, so I guess that moves us up to 2. I also have NO idea how Indiana got into that discussion so, go figure.

I'm in the camp that I don't care where we start. But if those are the teams to beat I feel very confident the cats can hang #9 this year.

So the magazine is out?

IU at # 4 is laughable, and I too thought Duke would be a little higher.

If there is ANY justice in this world, UNCHEAT will not win the title.

Maryland is loaded I agree that Turgeon is the weak link but they have all the rest of the ingredients you need to win.
But IU at 4??? I didn't think they were even in the running for top 15. Heck, just play a zone against them, TC has no idea how to run an offense against a zone.

IU in the top 10 is laughable. Did they suddenly require a bunch of talent I'm not aware of? I can't believe they are that high to start out the year. I know the Thomas kid is supposed to be really talented, but in college basketball, I believe it will take more than just one talented frontcourt kid. With Crean as coach, I wouldn't even dare put them in the top 25, never mind top 5. What a joke. It ruins the entire ranking with IU in it.

I love all of these UNC and Maryland haters. Look at the rest of the field. Those two are ranked high for good reason this year. Totally based upon best returners and a down year for everyone else.

I think we pass them both, but it is not like the pollsters are screwing other teams over by ranking those 2 teams. IU on the other hand may not finish 4th in the B10.

Exactly. This Maryland and UNC team would probably not be top 10 last year but this coming year is a down year across the board. Somebody has to be in the top 10. If you're only looking at roster talent then Maryland and UNC are right up there. We lost too much to be preseason number one.

Maryland at #1 is horrible. Did they even make the sweet 16 last year? They add stone blah blah and?

Somebody has got to be #1 I know but not them. UNC I could take.

I can at least understand the UNC and Maryland hype. With those 2, at least it makes sense and you can make a strong case for it. I might not agree with it, but I can understand the logic behind it. UNC returns almost everyone and you have to think a few guys may have improved. Maryland has a nice team and are really talented. I don't care for their head coach, but with the big kid in the middle they landed, they should have a good frontcourt. Stone has a lot of potential and is considered a onendone. With IU, they bring in Thomas and return Crean as coach. Do the people doing these rankings not get how bad of a coach Crean is?haha

I think I'm starting to come around on thinking Maryland could be a final four team. With Trimble back leading the team, they have a shot at being really good. You have to assume be has improved his game. With Stone inside, they should have just as much talent as anyone in the top 10 not named Kentucky.

So if you took Indiana off that list, slid everybody else up - who would you put 10th?

Maybe, Oklahoma? LSU? Cal? Gonzaga?

If Cal was coaching LSU or Coach K then I'd include them in the top 10 but as the way they are now with Jones at the helm he's gonna steer that ship into the rocks.

There seems to be a theme amongst our fanbase that we don't want to be the favorite early, but looking at the competition, I think we have the best team by a decent margin. I see no weaknesses other than not having a true 3. This should be one of Cal's best three point shooting teams and it's also loaded with slashers and great athletes. In years past Cal has had to search for and nominate leaders but this year we have two ready made floor generals in Ulis and Briscoe. I think next year will be a bit of a down year with no elite teams outside of UK and maybe Maryland.

I'm surprised they don't have 5 or 6 Big 12 teams in the top 10... never too early to overhype that conference.

If you don't think Maryland is worthy of the preseason #1 ranking than you must be one of those fans that only pays attention to UK or SEC teams. Maryland is going to be great. They got blown out by West Virginia but I believe Tremble was injured in that game and they struggled against the pressure Wva was applying. Don't expect that to happen this year. That is why veteran teams win. Maryland is a final four team.
