2 weeks to prepare for UT

Which gave UK their best chance to win, thanks for making my point.
Also freakishly let them get loose for big big plays. Limit that and make them drive. TN might get to 30. We will run every second off the clock before they will let them blow us out. If we can move the ball which I think we can this should be a low possession game which I hate but can’t let TN have a 3 and out they score too fast have to sustain drives play field position and make them drive and not get behind the secondary. Has the makings of a 24-17 type game to me

Exactly. UK had the ball 1st and 10 at the TN 38 with about a minute left in the game in a 3 point game. The game came down to UK not converting a 1st down or getting another 5 yards for a decent attempt at a tying FG. This game could have gone either way. I like UK chances if the TOP is close to last year's TOP.

UT will have two weeks to prepare for us as well ..they play UT-Martin next so i doubt they’ll waste too much energy here…
Not wishing it on anyone…but it only takes one unfortunate play for a player to get hurt. So I think the bye week does more gor UK than UT playing a gimme.

UTs ground game looking improved unfortunately. I expect the keys to be something like getting everything you can out of the secondary and maybe not containing, but slowing down Hooker. It's sounds obvious, but is difficult to put in practice. We could easily achieve one or the other any given game, but putting it all together would make a rare achievement for the team against an opponent of this caliber. Last year's game, they decided to limit possessions; which they did, but it didn't have the outcome that was desired.

UT will be a solid favorite but there are some hot coals to work with to generate the upset.

1. CRod is fresh...not seven games used. He has his legs in prime shape for this game. When the DBs tackle him they get abused. Then they have to run with Robinson, Brown, Key and Crowdus. Don't think the UT safeties can meet the physical challenge over the course of the game.

2. UK knows the formula to win this game. Control the clock and limit possessions.

3. Brad White and the defense remember last year. Revenge is best served on a Saturday night in October in your opponent's stadium. I don't expect them to say much before the game. I expect they will say alot during the game.

4. With regard to 3 above, this is an elite defense coming in with a hard on for this game. There will be focus and want to in this game like no other so far this year.

5. UK is better at receiver than Alabama and they will get open. When the safeties come up to stop CRod, the TEs will run the seam.

One more thing.

6. UK hasn't come close to playing its best football this season. I think UT just peaked.

They hadn't beaten Bama in forever. They played their best game of the year. It could have been their max performance. Teams don't always get better.

2 weeks to prepare for any opponent has not always been a good thing for Stoops at UK. You would think it would mean UK would come out with fire and looked well prepped to play, but that has certainly not always been the case. Here’s hoping this time is different! Go Cats!!!

We could have 2 years and it wouldn't be enough.
Meh... they have it going on at the moment, but our squad isn't a joke. If we had a more reliable OL unit, I'd give UT the home edge and little else. As is, we are 10+ point dogs, who might pull it off if a few things fall in place. Sorry. I'm not drinking the Orange kool-aid.

Ball control, Hooker can't complete passes if he doesn't have the ball. UK frustrated Miss St's experienced QB, can do the same with TN's. My biggest concern is SEC stripes continuing to allow the cheap shots on Levis. That and the inevitable "Knoxville effect" on stripes...a 17 penalty repeat would seem likely.
Aka... the new (shoddy) bedroom set effect?

Make them snap the ball. Eliminate the big plays by playing zone. Safety eye discipline will be key because they killed bamas safeties catching them jumping the wrong routes. Bring pressure on occasion to mix it up but try to avoid man coverage because they feast on it.

On offense value and posses the football. Don't come up empty om scoring opportunities. Stay gap/inside zone like last game and let the big guys eat. Will need to continue to make anticipation throws and get rid of the ball. Huge improvement last week. Would be nice to get some big special teams plays but I'm not sure they will give brown an opportunity

Better do it with rushing 4. If we bring more than 4 consistently they will shred us. Go listen to Van Hiles on his breakdown. He says the exact same thing. But on here posters think the answer is to bring the house every play

Where is VH's breakdown? Thanks

Didn’t say to do it every play. Smart coordinators know when and where to blitz.

We didn’t blitz hardly at all against Miss St. unless you count sending a corner/ backer as blitzing. We didn’t bring more than 4 but maybe a couple of times. What White did was bring the 4th from different spots so he still had 7 in coverage. There’s other ways to get pressure other than sending 5-6 and hoping you get there. If not you’re screwed. Only have 5 to cover is what gives up explosive plays

I always love White's boundary corner blitz as you never know when it will happen and when it does, it is almost always effective.

You play Tennessee just like you played Mississippi. They do the same shit. Play a play every 10- 15 seconds.

playing Mississippi at Mississippi was a huge advantage for us cuz we know what's coming.

We'll be ready for them. Going to control the clock and we're going to run that ball down there throat.

And then they can go home listening to that Rocky top song that actual Kentucky man wrote lol. Play our song Tennessee🕺🪕

Just took a glance at his games after a bye week in his 6 year bowl run:

L @ Miss State
W vs Vandy
W vs Arkansas

L @ Miss State
W vs Miss State

4-0 at home, 0-2 on the road.
Two bye weeks in 2019. Lost to Tennessee coming off the second one.

I will watch and will be here after hoping I'm wrong. Tn and bama just look to be at a whole higher level than msu and uk.
Plus the fact that our team under Stoops usually plays like shit after a bye week. He just doesn’t seem to know how to prepare them. Baffling.

Watch ut/fla game.

We have a propensity of not playing well out of the bye so I dont know that it matters. I guess letting Levis heal up helps with him specifically but it’s not unusual for us to be lackluster out of bye week

My concern is stoops record off a bye week, don't have the stats but not sure it is the greatest. That being said, we owe these orange turds a spoiled season after 2018 and many other occasions, if karma is such a thing, time for it to come full circle

Amazing how people develop false biases in their heads, and facts don't cause them to correct themselves.

4-2 over last 5 yrs. So awful, he sure doesn't get them ready!!!

Not to mention our outstanding bowl record, Stoops knows in fact how to improve and get his team ready when given extra time. Fact. Truth.

No question but it has to be controlled pressure, because if you miss he kills you with his takeoffs as much as his arm. The recipe is have your front 3 just straight bull rush push to back up the pocket in his face then use a 4th or 5th to rush form elswhere. Plus you limit his escape lanes that way. He and every other QB are different players when their space in front of them is reduced, just makes them uncomfortable.

And I'd get all the speed I can in the back 7 or 8 to cover. Got to get Wallace in there in place of Jackson IMO.

So the UT OL dominated bamas 4-5 star ⭐️ DL but the 2-3 ⭐️ army of 3 are going to push the pocket in HH s face ? Seriously?

You are correct. The singers who made the song famous, the Osborne Brothers, were from Hyden, Kentucky. It's considered a bluegrass song. Where is the bluegrass?
Sure as fudge aint down there in orange country lol.

Anyway there's two places a true Kentuckian doesn't go.
Louisville, Kentucky and the state of Tennessee.
You just stay away. Far away.
Amen.

Live. True Kentuckians don’t live there.

Sadly business sometimes takes you to those places. I do enjoy parts of Nashville, but live there? No no.

Yes. Have to run the ball to keep their possessions number down.

I don't think it much matters where we give them the ball back, our 40 or their 30. Long pass completion, TD & otherwise, probability higher on the longer field. Net, 4 & 1 outside our 40, & 4 & 2 on their side of the 50, go for it.
