$2,250,000 Per Win

To be fair, we're not paying him $9M for this year's results. We're paying him for the two 10-win seasons a few years ago (although I'd argue $900k/win is also too high) . Like a MLB team pays $40M for a guy who hit 48 HRs 3 years ago, but only 22 this year. You're always paying for past performance. Still a horrible contract by Mitch. Have to figure out a way to get out of it sooner than later. Next year looks to be more of the same, unfortunately.

2018 was a lifetime ago. 2021 got vacated.

Kentucky has got to stop awarding ridiculous contracts after a couple of good years. Stoops is in the top 10 highest paid coaches and the results are that he is way overpaid. Kentucky could pay less and have his results.
^100% correct. I've always thought coaches, with an extremely few exceptions, are way overpaid. Think LSU got a bargain with Kelly? Day at OSU - think they're fans feel like they got their money's worth? Lots of coaches making a ton of dough but the team's success is most likely not all due to their presence on the sidelines.

“The going rate for a victory is estimated at $2.25 mil, so we felt it prudent to reward Mark’s 6 win effort with a new $13.5 mil/year contract extension and will evaluate upping that going forward for any victory beyond that.”

-Mitch Barnhart announcement following an unexpected, monumental 6 win 2025 campaign, probably.

6 wins is probably double what it very realistically could be. But Mitch will still pay out the same.

With this roster any single person on this board could have suddenly been appointed head coach and won three of the four wins from this season. I see it more as Stoops got $9million for his win against Ole Miss. One win $9 million dollars.

I was a big Stoops supporter for a long time, and I think he has accomplished some great things here and I will always be thankful for it, but this is starting to feel like Coach Cal 2.0. Please just leave and preserve your legacy.

Completely agree. I would put money on 3-4 wins next season. That’s why I threw in the “monumental” in that hypothetical. 😬 This program is cooked next season unless we magically get a multiple million influx to NIL and buy our way to a few more wins.
